Scindia urges speedy execution of DoNER projects in Manipur during high-level review
Speaking during a high-level review meeting co-chaired virtually with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, the Minister, who attended the meeting virtually, emphasized the need for targeted action to overcome persistent bottlenecks and deliver tangible results.
The meeting reviewed the status of ongoing DoNER and North Eastern Council (NEC) projects across the state. Manipur Chief Secretary P.K. Singh presented a detailed update, highlighting progress and challenges in several priority areas. These included development of handloom and handicrafts, promotion of Polo, enhancement of tourism infrastructure, strengthening transport and connectivity, implementation of palm oil cultivation under the NMEO-OP, logistics improvements, and investment promotion in Manipur.
Revisiting discussions from the previous review held on April 17, 2025, the session also focused on the advancement of vibrant village initiatives, monitoring of PMO-priority projects, and resolution of distressed or delayed projects under central schemes.
Offering point-wise feedback, Minister Scindia urged departments to adhere to timelines and maintain momentum. Governor Bhalla reinforced the call for timely execution, directing officials to intensify ground-level implementation and prioritize outcome-driven governance.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Governor, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), senior administrative secretaries, and officials from the North Eastern Council who participated via video conference.

In addition, they have also targeted army positions and weapons depot. 'Syria is making serious mistakes. The legitimacy their regime recently received may be distorting their sense of reality….they would do well to wake up. This country has been torn apart from within for years, with external help, through endless war and bloodshed. What's happening now is not helping them get to a better place,' the official said. The official added that Damascus's posture toward European and other foreign actors doesn't reflect the ground reality in Syria. 'When this regime first came to power, they spoke nicely — people said 'look, they're talking'….They know exactly what the Europeans want to hear, and they deliver. But there's a huge gap between their rhetoric abroad and their actions at home. 'In the end, we deliver messages that reflect these truths. Of course, we would prefer these events hadn't happened, but we can't ignore them. As neighbours, we cannot ignore them. That's it.' The Syrian Druze also have pledged to continue fighting against the government, with a senior Druze leader stating there can be no agreement with 'these terrorist gangs that call themselves a government', adding that they will continue fighting 'the terrorist gangs until our land is liberated from them.' Raju Shetty vows to fight against Shaktipeeth highway
Kolhapur / Sindhudurg, Jul 16 (UNI) MP and president of Anti-Shaktipeeth Highway Action Committee, Raju Shetty, today termed the proposed Shaktipeeth Highway being built by the Maharashtra government as a "Swarthpeeth" (selfish pursuit), which will plunge the state into a debt trap, and vowed to continue his fight till this highway is cancelled. Talking to reporters at Sawantwadi in Sindhudurg district after visiting Sri Patradevi Goa area, he said, "Proposed Shaktipeeth Highway being built by the Maharashtra goverment, is a 'Swarthpeeth' (selfish pursuit), which will plunge the state into a debt trap, and I will fight till the last drop of my blood to get this highway cancelled." Shetty emphasised that his agitation for cancellation of proposed Shaktipeeth was not political but was for protecting the rights of the people of the land and to save the fragile environment. He said that the estimated expenditure of this proposed Shaktipeeth highway is Rs 86,000 crore but considering working style of the state government, the proposed expenditure will raise up to Rs 1.50 lakh crore, which will not be affordable for the government but mount the burden of loan on the state, he reasoned. He made an emotional appeal to the people of Sindhudurg district to extend support for cancellation of the proposed Shaktipeeth highway. Asked about statement of Konkan MLA Deepak Kesarkar who had said that the proposed Shaktipeeth highway will not pass through the Sindhudurg district, Shetty replied that the government has not changed its plan.
