Falkirk come from behind twice to get the point against Dundee United
Dylan Tait levelled in the 50th minute with a fine finish but Ivan Dolcek restored the Tannadice side's lead in the 71st minute, with his first counter for United – only for home defender Ethan Ross to level with a deflected strike two minutes later. A share of the spoils was probably the correct outcome.
Falkirk, unchanged, began the game unbeaten in their four Premier Sports Cup games this season.
Jim Goodwin's side had won through to the Conference League third qualifiers with a 2-0 aggregate win over Luxembourg side UNA Strassen on Thursday night.
Kristijan Trapanovski and Will Ferry missed out through injury, with Watters and Isaac Pappoe, the midfielder on loan from Ferencvaros, taking over.
Falkirk, so comfortable on their artificial surface, immediately had United on the back foot, albeit failing to really test visiting goalkeeper Yevhen Kucherenko.
The free-flowing Bairns kept pushing forward and in the 20th minute left-back Leon McCann's whipped in cross from the left arrived at Calvin Miller at the back post via a Brian Graham flick but he could not redirect his header towards goal.
Kucherenko caused another scare when he was closed down by Ross as he aimed to clear but the ball bounced wide.
United had a terrific chance to score on the break in the 26th minute but unmarked Watters' header from a Panutche Camara cross was too tame to unduly bother former Celtic keeper Scott Bain.
However, the Taysiders forged ahead following a driving run into the left channel by former Falkirk midfielder Craig Sibbald, whose cross was repelled by Bairns defender Liam Henderson but only to on-loan Barnsley forward Watters, who thrashed the ball behind the helpless Bain.
The second half continued in an open fashion and, after United striker Zac Sapsford was booked for diving in the Falkirk box, the home side levelled.
Right-back Keelan Adams forced his way to the byline and cut the ball back for skipper Brad Spencer to lay it off to midfielder Tait, who hammered the ball high into the net from 12 yards.
The home side had the ascendancy again but United stormed back into the lead after Camara drove forward and set up Dolcek, who beat Bain after his first effort had been blocked.
Falkirk returned fire moments later when Ross' deflected shot from 14 yards after taking an Adams cross, wrong-footed Kucherenko.
There were further opportunities at both ends in an exciting finale but the two sides sides had to settle for a point apiece.

Manchester United have been told by Bruno Fernandes to complete more transfer business this summer after signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for Ruben Amorim's frontline Bruno Fernandes has called on Manchester United to make more new signings following the final match of their United States tour. The Red Devils captain called out his side's performance as 'lazy' before making a plea for more new additions. Benjamin Sesko The RB Leipzig striker is the focus of attention from Manchester United and Newcastle and will likely cost in excess of £70million. The forward, who scored 13 goals last season, has not indicated his preference though United are said to have the advantage as they first talk to the player before making a bid to the Bundesliga side. Sesko has long been linked to United and and a new striker remains on the agenda with United willing to let Rasmus Hojlund go for £30m. Ollie Watkins Aston Villa's asking price may have put United off making a move for Ollie Watkins for the moment, but the forward has proved of interest. The Midlands club want £60m for the 29-year-old and are reluctant to sell Watkins would be in keeping with United's transfer tactics this summer: of relying on players who have been successful in Premier League already. It may require United to become more desperate to part ways with a fee that Villa deem acceptable however. Gianluigi Donnarumma There has been talk of a new goalkeeper on Manchester United's agenda this summer and few additions could be as significant as Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Paris Saint-Germain star's contract is set to expire next year with little sign of an extension. Reports have indicated the former AC Milan shotstopper would be interested in making the move, but the MEN report there is not a set budget for a new first choice currently. The Italy international could be available for free in less than 12 months. A more affordable option could be Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor. Last month, it was reported the Red Devils were ready to trigger his release clause. United have already been linked to a whole host of goalkeepers including Aston Villa 's Emi Martinez, Porto ace Diogo Costa and Cruz Azul number one Kevin Mier. Reports in Brazil claimed United were now ready to move for Victor and told the South American side they were willing to trigger the player's R$44.5 million (£6m) release clause. A move has yet to be forthcoming however. Christopher Nkunku Earlier this summer it was reported Christopher Nkunku would be available for £35m if United wanted to make a move. The Frenchman has failed to shine at Chelsea after seeing his time at the club disrupted by injury. With United looking to sell Alejandro Garnacho, and Chelsea a prime candidate for his signature, there remains the chance Nkunku could be utilised in a makeweight for any deal. The Red Devils will likely prefer a full transfer fee to boost their standing in profit and sustainability rules.
