Kranthi Bathini, director-equity strategy at WealthMills Securities, pointed out that while the company's Q1 results might have painted a subdued picture, the overall sectoral outlook remains positive. He has maintained a 'Hold' rating on the stock.
"The company's quarterly results were below expectations, leading to selling pressure from investors. However, it is advisable to monitor the stock closely in the coming quarters, as the growth prospects for the overall insurance sector, especially health insurance, remain strong. Niva Bupa, in particular, stands out for its robust digital reach, which could support increased market share over time. Given these long-term fundamentals, existing investors can hold their positions. For new investors, adopting a 'buy on dips' strategy appears to be a prudent approach," he said.
Ravi Singh, SVP-retail research, Religare Broking, also took a similar stance and issued a 'Hold' rating on the stock. "Existing long investors can average the position at current prices if it holds the ₹82-₹83 mark and exit if the daily closing falls below ₹82. For fresh buying, a decisive close above ₹85 levels is necessary. Stock is also facing resistance from 21– day EMA over which it has recently traded but fails to sustain," he said.

NotebookLM might be Google's coolest AI tool yet: Here are 7 features you'll actually want to use

Google has been aggressive with its AI launches this year and has kept OpenAI and others in the AI field on their toes with the latest Gemini model announcements. However, Google's AI strategy is not just about bringing newer and newer features to Gemini. There are other AI-powered products the tech giant is working on quietly in the background. One Google AI tool that almost always slips under the radar is NotebookLM, the company's research and note-taking tool, which continues to earn praise on social media. NotebookLM first started under the codename 'Project Tailwind' inside Google before the company unveiled it at the I/O 2023 conference. While the AI tool received great reviews from users, Google's focus on Gemini meant that NotebookLM didn't always have the company's full attention. This year, however, things have changed for good. Google has not only announced an Android and iOS app for NotebookLM in May but has also introduced more novel features like video overviews. Project Tailwind In case you don't know about NotebookLM, here's a look at its top features. Unlike a traditional chatbot like Gemini or ChatGPT, users have the ability to upload various types of sources in their 'Notebook' in the app. These sources can include PDFs, Google Docs, Slides, website links, YouTube videos, audio files, and markdown files. The uploaded content then acts as the knowledge base for NotebookLM, which the AI analyzes to answer user queries in natural language. Since NotebookLM does not rely on generic or external information like other AI chatbots, it stays grounded in context and reduces the chances of hallucinations or factual errors. Users are not limited to a single source in NotebookLM. They can upload multiple file formats together, allowing the AI to pull information across different types of content and provide more informed summaries and responses. NotebookLM goes beyond basic summarisation. It can generate insights, identify trends, and suggest new ideas by drawing connections across the documents uploaded by the user. NotebookLM is an excellent study companion. It can summarise lengthy PDFs or slides and generate FAQs, quizzes, key terms, and more from the material. Users can also create and organise manual notes within the notebook. This helps students revisit topics by reviewing both AI-generated and personal notes while using the in-built study tools for better understanding. Perhaps the standout feature of NotebookLM is its ability to turn dry or complex topics—like a product guide or a policy document—into audio overviews. These are styled like a two-person podcast, making the content more engaging. Imagine uploading Plato's Republic or Bertrand Russell's History of Western Philosophy and listening to it as a podcast-style dialogue. Audio overviews in NotebookLM Much like the audio overviews, Google recently rolled out video overviews for NotebookLM. This feature converts source material into AI-narrated slideshows or explainer videos. The AI pulls in images, diagrams, quotes, and figures from the original content. Users can also add custom visuals to highlight key points more effectively. NotebookLM currently supports over 80 languages, including several Indian ones such as Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Maithili, Oriya, Punjabi, and Tamil. Users can interact with the assistant in these languages, upload content written in them, and even generate audio overviews natively.

PNB Housing Finance stock plummets 18% on MD & CEO Girish Kousgi exit

Shares of PNB Housing Finance plummeted approximately 18 per cent on Friday, closing at Rs 808.05 on the BSE, after the mortgage lender announced that its MD & CEO, Girish Kousgi, had resigned to pursue opportunities outside the company. His resignation will take effect on October 28, 2025, a year before his term was due to end. "The sharp drop in shares of PNB Housing Finance was a result of an overreaction by the market to the MD & CEO's resignation, along with broader uncertainty and weakness in the market. Additionally, the housing finance sector has been broadly muted due to lower interest rates coupled with uncertainty in the IT sector, which is affecting overall demand for real estate and housing finance," said Kranthi Bathini, equity strategist at Wealthmills Securities. To calm investor sentiment, the company issued a statement on Friday, assuring that its team will continue to work towards achieving the company's goals of robust growth, asset quality, and margins. The company's board will immediately begin searching for a seasoned professional with proven expertise and industry experience to fill the leadership role. Additionally, Kousgi will work closely with the board and senior management to ensure a smooth transition during this period. The company also emphasized that its strategic priorities, business focus, and growth trajectory remain intact, based on the strong foundation that Kousgi helped build. R Chandrasekaran, Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee at PNB Housing Finance, said, 'The Board will initiate a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based selection process to appoint a new leader who will further enhance the legacy of PNB Housing Finance. We are confident of identifying a suitable professional soon, who will further accelerate our strategic direction and long-term value creation.' Kousgi was appointed MD & CEO of the company on October 21, 2022. His appointment was approved by shareholders through a postal ballot on December 22, 2022, for a term of 4 years, following the early exit of Hardayal Prasad, who resigned on October 20, 2022, for personal reasons. 'There seems to be a perception that the company has faced challenges in recent times. In 2019, the promoter, Punjab National Bank (PNB), decided to divest its stake in the company. PNB entered into share purchase agreements (SPA) with Varde Partners and General Atlantic Group, but the deal was later terminated in May 2019, with PNB continuing as the sole promoter,' said an industry expert. 'Later in 2022, the company saw an early exit from the then MD & CEO, Hardayal Prasad, who left a year before the end of his tenure. This year also saw multiple senior management exits, culminating in the resignation of the MD & CEO. Additionally, guidance from the board has been quite limited,' he added. The company also saw multiple exits in the quarter, including Dilip Vaitheeswaran, Chief Sales Officer (Function Head), and Anujai Saxena, Business Head (Affordable Business), apart from the resignation of Kousgi. In Q1 FY26, the retail loan assets of the company increased 18 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 76,923 crore, with a 143 per cent YoY increase in the affordable housing segment to Rs 5,744 crore and a 20 per cent growth YoY in emerging market segments to Rs 22,701 crore. The retail loan assets of the company stood at Rs 53,123 crore in the October-December quarter of FY23 (Q3 FY23).

The US Department of State announced sweeping changes to its visa interview waiver policy last month. Effective September 2, 2025, applicants for US non-immigrant visas, including those applying for H-1B visas and those under the age of 14 and over 79, will have to appear for in-person interviews with a consular officer. In July, the US announced major changes to its visa interview waiver policy. Announced on July 25, the latest decision reverses the February 18, 2025 policy.
