Memories of my magical mix tape summer
He made me laugh so much and I was definitely in love with him, but I think neither of us knew quite how to act on our feelings. The line 'To you I guess I'm just a clown who picks you up each time you're down' struck me at the time as being a reference to how much he made me laugh, but now I realise that it was probably a plea to take him seriously.
I've just turned 60 and heard the song played recently. It stopped me in my tracks, transporting me right back to that gorgeous, magical summer of laughter and flirting that somehow never became anything more. And all the more magical for that I guess.Name and address supplied
To make a mix tape was an art form. There were only between 30 and 45 minutes each side, which required a good knowledge of the tracks to be put on to each one. Following that, how do you get the attention of the audience? Starting with a banger and trying to hold that for a couple more songs before easing off a bit.
Towards the end of each side it was vital not to cut off any song but, if possible, to fade out. Even better if the tracks were finished just at the right moment before the tape ran out. A mix tape was a work of art, a work of love. You had to know your audience, your music and had to time it perfectly. I'm an avid lover of this lost art form.Christoph WagnerBoulogne-Billancourt, France

Love Island fans slam Blu for recoupling speech as he blasts co-star Harry's behaviour
LOVE Island's comeback boy Blu Chegini has been roasted for his dig at Harry Cooksley during the recent dramatic recoupling. Blu made a speech during the recoupling ceremony where he chose to couple up with Harry's ex, Helena, but took multiple digs at the footballer as he announced his decision. 4 4 4 Bombshell Blu was brought back into the long running ITV2 dating show for a second chance at finding love and as he opted to get close to Helena, he was one of many people to call Harry out for his behaviour towards her. Despite becoming exclusive, Harry then revealed he still had feelings for Shakira, prompting a devastated Helena to end their relationship, Everyone from Love Island fans to domestic violence charity, Women's Aid, have slammed Harry's behaviour in the villa. But on Sunday night, it was Blu's turn to have a dig at Harry during his recoupling speech. "I think she's stunning, she's got a great personality, and she can laugh at pretty much anything," Blu began while describing Helena. "She's had a very hard time in here and I don't think anyone's emotion should be played with, I don't think any girl's feelings should be played with." Blu continued: "And I want her to know that not all men are the same, and even if it's by making her smile and laugh, then I'm all for it." The speech was a winner in the villa and he ended up with Helena, but Love Island viewers had a cynical take on Blu's words, accusing him of manufacturing the speech in order to get attention. "Please can you get rid of irrelevant Blu from the villa. he's so desperate for screen time," wrote one person on the Love Island Instagram page. "Why is Blu so opinionated? He lived in the villa for about 5 minutes? think he's realised hes gotta go back to his 9-5 outside the villa, so he's trying to get some screen time HELLLLP," wrote another person on X, formerly Twitter. "Blu might be the most cringy person i've ever seen on Love Island and that's saying a lot," added another. Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon shares look inside Jack P Shepherd's stunning wedding celebrations
CORONATION Street beauty Lucy Fallon gave fans a front-row seat to Jack P Shepherd's wedding bash. Jack and wife Hanni Treweek said I do in their stunning wedding ceremony on Saturday at Manchester Cathedral. 8 8 Lucy Fallon, who plays Jack's on-screen niece Bethany Platt, attended the wedding in a summery yellow floor-grazing frock. She took to Instagram to share snaps of the special day, writing the caption: "a gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous day celebrating Hanni & Jack." Her followers got a glimpse of the stunning table and ceremony setup and decor inside the grand gothic cathedral, along with the bus that guests travelled on. Despite a cloudy day, the pair pulled out all the stops. A total of 150 white padded seats were laid out on the flagstones while staff worked hard to instal a detailed floral altar. After their nuptials at the cathedral, they headed the short distance to The Lowry hotel in Salford for the wedding breakfast and reception. Lucy also posed for a photo with her on-screen mum, Tina O'Brien, who looked stunning in a plunging blue floral dress. Tina put on a loved-up display with her new man as she left the wedding. She brought her new boyfriend, interior designer Adam Fadlé, to the star-studded bash and the pair couldn't keep their hands off each other. The couple embraced and kissed before the actress looked up lovingly at her boyfriend while holding his arm. Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien finds love again months after marriage ends - & new man has striking similarity to her ex Tina found love again just four months after the end of her marriage to personal trainer Adam Crofts. The pair were understood to have met through friends in Cheshire where they both live. Tina, 41, who has played Sarah Platt on the ITV soap in two stints over 26 years, split with 40-year-old Adam No1 in March. The pair, who were married for six years, share son Beau together. Real-life soap couples Soaps are renowned for their sweet and scandalous romances – but it's not just in scripted storylines where love is blossoming. A number of our favourite small-screen actors have fallen for co-stars and soapland rivals when the cameras have stopped rolling. Max Parker and Kris Mochrie Despite playing brothers Luke and Lee Posner on Emmerdale, the pair never actually shared any scenes together. But the pair still fell in love after meeting on set. Max and Kris got together in 2020, moving in together later than same year and got engaged in 2022. In a sweet Instagram post, the couple confirmed they're planning a 2025 wedding. Beth Cordingly and Ian Kelsey Beth, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan, announced her love for her co-star Ian Kelsey, who played Dean Glover, shortly after she joined Emmerdale at the beginning of 2024. 'I am very in love with Ian and very happy. I think it really does work him being an actor too. He has been so fantastic," she gushed. Laura Norton and Mark Jordan Kerry Wyatt and Daz Eden actors Laura and Mark met on the set of Emmerdale in 2014. The couple, who got engaged in 2018, told Loose Women they spent a long time deciding whether they should "just stay as friends." Although it seems they were meant to be and the pair now share two children together. Zoe Henry and Jeff Hordley Emmerdale favourites Zoe and Jeff, who play Rhonda Goskirk and Cain Dingle met at drama college in 1994 and have been together ever since. While working together might be too much for some couples, that's definitely not the case for Zoe and Jeff. Zoe previously told The Sun: "Working on the same show as Jeff also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand." Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell Lesley and Chris are another Dales romantic success story. Unlike some of the other soap stars, the pair who play Brenda Walker and Eric Pollard, are together on and off screen, officially tying the knot in 2016. They also adore working together, but have clear home-work boundaries. "We make a point of not talking about Emmerdale when we're at home, though – that would be just too sad, wouldn't it?" Chris revealed. Sally Carman and Joe Duttine Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe actors Sally and Joe got together after meeting on the set of Coronation Street in 2017 and they tied the knot in July 2022. But unlike some of the Emmerdale stars, Sally and Joe prefer that their characters don't interact much. Sally previously admitted it "would be horrendous" to work on a storyline with Joe because "he's too funny." Anthony Cotton and Peter Eccleston Sean Tully may have been unlucky in love on the cobbles, but in real life Antony's met his Prince Charming. The soap star started dating long-term partner Peter in 2005, after they met when he was working as an assistant props buyer on Corrie. Jane Danson and Robert Beck Corrie favourite Jane Danson tied the knot with soap star Robert Beck in 2005. The actress, who plays Leanne Battersby, shares two children, Harry and Sam, with the former Brookside star. During their marriage, Robert has also done a stint in Weatherfield playing criminal Jimmy Dockerson. Caroline Harding and Chris Gascoyne Chris, who played pub landlord Peter Barlow, married soap star Caroline in 2002. Although she is best known as an Emmerdale star, Caroline did visit her husband at work when she did a two-episode stint as doctor on the Manchester soap in 2020. The couple share a daughter called Belle, plus two children, Pip and Freddie from Caroline's previous marriage. Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas Speed Nadine Mulkerrin, and Rory Doulas Speed are known for their Hollyoaks alter egos Cleo McQueen and Joel Dexter. The loved-up pair got engaged on a December 2018 trip to Amsterdam - just over a year after they announced they were dating. They now share two kids, Reggie and Dougie. Sophie Austin and Shayne Ward Former Hollyoaks star Sophie, whose best known for playing villain Lindsay Butterfield, was introduced to singer and ex-Corrie star Shayne through mutual friends. She gave birth to their daughter Willow in December 2016 and they welcomed a son in 2022. Tina also has a 16-year-old daughter from her relationship with her former Corrie co-star Ryan Thomas. Adam No2, aged 38, studied architecture before opening his interior design business in 2010 and is a millionaire design guru loved by footballers like Paul Pogba. He overhauled the former Manchester United star's lavish Cheshire pad after he signed for the club. Jack's wedding festivities carried on late into the night as he and his Corrie costars celebrated his long-awaited nuptials. Some of the other Coronation Street stars spotted at the big do, included soap legend Helen Worth who played his on-screen mum, Gail Platt, Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), Ben Price (Nick Tilsley), Colson Smith (Craig Tinker) and Julia Goulding (Shona Platt). Also in attendance were Jack's former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Chris Hughes and his co-star Alan Halsall, who was joined by new girlfriend Ellie Dolan. 8 8 8 8 8
