Iran Willing to Resume Nuclear Talks with US under Guarantees of No Attacks

On June 13, Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Iran under the name of Operation Rising Lion. The military campaign targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and killed top military commanders and nuclear scientists.
The US became directly involved in the conflict between Israel and Iran on June 22 after launching airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.
Araqchi said that if the US and others wish to resume nuclear talks with Iran, 'first of all, there should be a firm guarantee that such actions will not be repeated.'
In this context, he clarified that attacking Iran's nuclear facilities has made it more difficult and complicated to achieve a diplomatic solution based on negotiations. Deteriorated Relations between Tehran and IAEA
Iranian relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have deteriorated since the United States and Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in June in order to eliminate Iran's nuclear program.
Moreover, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has signed a law suspending cooperation with UN nuclear watchdog, amid growing tensions.
Then, Araqchi stated that Tehran intends to collaborate with the UN nuclear watchdog, but this cooperation would take on new form and would be guided and managed through the Supreme National Security Council, according to Reuters.
He also noted that that access to Iranian Nuclear sites bombed by Israel and the US posed security and safety issues.
According to the new law, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should have approval by the Supreme National Security Council for any future inspection of Iran's nuclear sites.
In a speech to Tehran-based foreign diplomats, Araqchi emphasized Iran's need to resume uranium enrichment on its soil.

Iran says ‘no specific date' for US nuclear talks
TEHRAN: Iran said Monday it had 'no specific date' for a meeting with the United States on Tehran's nuclear program, following a war with Israel that had derailed negotiations. 'For now, no specific date, time or location has been determined regarding this matter,' said foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei of plans for a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff. Iran had been negotiating with the United States before Israel began strikes on its nuclear facilities last month, which Washington later joined. Araghchi and Witkoff met five times, starting in April, without concluding a deal, before Israel launched surprise strikes on June 13, starting a 12-day war. The extent of the damage from the strikes remains unknown. With its own strikes, numbering in the hundreds, Israel killed nuclear scientists and top-ranking military officers as well as hitting military, nuclear and other sites. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israel, while it attacked a US base in Qatar in retaliation for Washington's strikes. Israel and Western nations accuse Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran has consistently denied. While it is the only non-nuclear power to enrich uranium to 60-percent purity, close to the level needed for a warhead, the UN's atomic energy watchdog has said it had no indication that Iran was working to weaponize its stockpiles.

Rescued crew of Greek ship hit by Houthis arrive in Saudi Arabia
Ten mariners rescued after the Houthi militia sank a Greek ship last week have arrived in Saudi Arabia, maritime security sources said on Monday, after rescuers ended their search for the remaining crew. The rescue mission began on Wednesday when the Iran-aligned group sank the Liberia-flagged Eternity C cargo ship, with 22 crew and three armed guards on board, after attacking the vessel with sea drones and rocket-propelled grenades over two consecutive days. Eight crew members and two security guards were rescued. All the crew were Filipino, except for one Russian. On Sunday, maritime risk management firm Diaplous and British security firm Ambrey said in a joint statement that the vessel's owner had decided to end the privately-run search for the remaining crew. 'The decision to end the search has been taken by the vessel's owner reluctantly, but it believes that, in all the circumstances, the priority must now be to get the 10 souls safely recovered alive ashore,' they said. The ship carrying the rescued crew has arrived in Jizan, a Diaplous official said. The remaining 15 people who were on board are considered missing, according to the vessel's Greece-based manager, Cosmoship. Five of them are believed to have died before the vessel sank, according to maritime security sources. The Houthis said last week that they picked up some of the crew after the vessel went down. Cosmoship said that it was trying to verify the claim. Before attacking Eternity C the Houthis had sunk another Greek ship, the Magic Seas. Its crew were rescued by a passing ship. The EU's naval mission Aspides, which protects shipping in the Red Sea, has said that it had no naval assets in the area at the time of the attacks. No international naval force was present, according to maritime security sources. The Houthis have attacked more than 100 ships since November 2023 in what they say is an act of solidarity with the Palestinians over the Gaza war.

Blast in residential block blast near Iran's Qom, source says not Israeli attack
DUBAI: An explosion at a residential building injured seven people in the Pardisan neighborhood of Qom city, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported, going on to quote an unnamed source saying it was not the result of any Israeli attack. 'Four residential units were damaged in the blast. Initial assessments show that the cause of the incident was a gas leak, and follow-ups are continuing in this regard,' the director of Qom's fire department told Fars. The agency said the residents of the building were ordinary citizens. Iran's regional arch-rival Israel has a record of assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists, whom it considers part of a program that directly threatens Israel. Tehran maintains its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes. Since the end of a 12-day air war last month between Iran and Israel, in which Israel and the United States attacked Iran's nuclear facilities, several explosions have occurred in Iran, but authorities have not blamed Israel. 'People should not worry about rumors (of Israeli attacks). If a hostile action occurs in the country, the news will immediately reach the people and alarm bells will simultaneously be activated in the Occupied Territories,' Fars quoted an unnamed Iranian source as saying following the blast in Qom.
