took to social media yesterday to vent that she feels like she's "explaining gravity to a chicken," a quote from the 2012 sitcom, Veep. The country singer is tired of having to explain herself.
"I'm so sick of explaining myself to people who already made up their mind," Maren wrote over a video of herself rolling her eyes and looking fed up in an adorable white ensemble and TikTok-perfect makeup.
Her song "Lemonade" plays over the video.
"I'm so sick of lemonade/ All this squeeze ain't worth the juice/ Pour some sugar over me/ Still not sweet enough for you."
Fans took to the comments to support the "Background Music" singer.
"You owe no one anything," commented one TikTok user. "Shine on Queen!"
"Some people are committed to misunderstanding you," one fan agreed. "It's a waste of your breath. 🤍"One fan quoted another song of Maren's back to her, "The Tree": "screaming the truth to a liarrrrrrrr SPENT TEN THOUSAND HOURS trying to fight it with flowers"
And one fan appreciated the Veep quote: "The veep quote just made me spit out my drink 😆"
This isn't the first time the "My Church" singer has spoken out about being misunderstood. In a 2024 interview, she said: 'What I've learned is that it's not my job to inform everybody all the time about what I'm feeling. I want to talk and explain less and let the music speak for me, which was the whole point of getting into this in the first place.'
