SHAH ALAM – Badminton star Lee Zii Jia has left fans worried and emotional after posting a series of disturbing illustrations on Instagram, without a single word of explanation.
The 27-year-old, usually known for his fiery presence on the court, uploaded a set of dark and eerie images.
These included haunting illustrations of a burning face, a face pierced with needles and a lifeless body lying on a sofa with blood flowing from it.
Other images showed shadowy figures, an empty void and scenes conveying an intense sense of isolation.
Adding to the concern, Lee also changed his Instagram profile picture to a completely black image, a move many interpreted as a silent cry for help.
Fans quickly flooded the comment section, offering love, strength and hope to the Kedah-born athlete.
Many wondered if he's battling depression or going through a tough mental patch.
One fan, Khai Yuen Chao, reminded him that it is fine to struggle and that healing is a process.
"I know it's hard right now, but I believe in you. One step at a time, you will rise again," he posted. Among the dark and eerie images uploaded on his instagram.
Another Instagram user, @itsmeaqeela, reassured Lee that he wasn't alone in whatever he might be going through.
"You have us, Lee, we will always wait for you. Believe me, time will heal everything," she said.
Meanwhile, user @izazinazirah left an encouraging message, urging him not to let negative thoughts overwhelm him.
"Don't think negatively, Jia. You have so many fans and supporters out there. Everything will be alright. Take care, Jia," she commented.
Despite the speculation, there has been no official statement from Lee or his management regarding the post.
Lee, from Kedah, has faced intense public scrutiny over the years following his exit from the national badminton team and his subsequent performance fluctuations on the international stage.
While his career has seen impressive highs, including winning the 2021 All England Open, he has also faced criticism and pressure during his professional journey.
This incident has once again brought to light the importance of mental health awareness, especially among public figures and athletes who are often under immense pressure to perform.
Fans continue to rally behind the Malaysian badminton star, hoping he is receiving the support he needs, both professionally and personally.

Ruben Neves serves as pallbearer at Diogo Jota's funeral after emotional match
AL-HILAL'S Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo flew to Portugal for the funeral for their former teammate Diogo Jota after an emotional Club World Cup quarter-final against Fluminense on Friday that saw them break down in tears during the minute's silence. Neves, one of Jota's closest friends, served as a pallbearer for the Liverpool forward who died alongside his younger brother Andre Silva following a car accident in northwestern Spain on Thursday morning when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. Tributes have continued to pour in for the brothers with footballing greats including Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard, joining the Prime Ministers of Portugal and Britain in mourning the loss. Friday's match between Al-Hilal and Fluminense in Orlando began with players and fans observing a minute's silence in memory of the two brothers. Neves, who played with the 28-year-old Jota during their days at Wolverhampton Wanderers, issued a touching tribute on Instagram about an hour before kick-off. 'Wherever you are, I know you're going to read this, we've never been one for this sort of thing and maybe now I'll regret it a little, but you know what you mean to me just as much as I know what I am to you,' Neves said. 'More than a friendship, we're family, and we're not going to stop being family just because you've decided to sign a contract a little further away from us! 'When I go to the national team, you'll still be by my side at the dinner table, on the bus, on the plane... you'll always be there with me, as usual. We'll keep laughing, making plans, sharing our lives with each other. 'I'll make sure you're always there and I'll make sure your family never lacks anything while you're there, far away but thinking of us, waiting for us ... 'As of today, you'll be on the pitch with me, and we'll follow our path together, on the stage where we met.' Chelsea's Portuguese forward Pedro Neto also paid a heartfelt tribute to his friends when he walked out on the field with a shirt bearing their names before their quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadelphia. 'We spoke with Pedro yesterday and this morning and this afternoon and it was completely Pedro's decision to play or not to play,' Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said after his team's 2-1 win. 'He did, he made a fantastic effort to play this game, to play with his teammates, and we really appreciate what he has done. 'I just said to the players that this win is especially for him because we know how close he was, and the effort that he has made. So no doubt that we really appreciate what he decided in the end.'

Luqman Hakim aims to shine with NSFC after European football stint
AFTER spending five years playing with Belgian club KV Kortrijk, young striker Luqman Hakim Shamsuddin is ready to make his mark with Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) in the upcoming season of the Malaysia League. He said that playing abroad since 2020 has taught him plenty about discipline, mental toughness and the high intensity of the game that he intends to put to good use this season. 'I believe that Negeri Sembilan is the team for me to play for in Malaysia. I'm attracted to the team because I'm confident in the management's plans, and I'm ready to play thanks to the guidance of head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil. 'My target is to help restore NSFC's glory days. I hope Negri supporters can be patient and continue to support this team, as most of the players are new, so we need some time to play as a team,' he said after the opening of the Warrix Concept Store by Tunku Besar Tampin, Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al-Qadri, who is Negeri Sembilan Football Association (PBNS) president, here today. The 23-year-old said team understanding was crucial to ensure that the team achieves its goal of performing well, and said it was vital to translate the intensity of a game into consistent play on the field. 'The difference in playing abroad is the intensity of the matches, I realise the situation is different here and don't expect that it's the same as Belgium, but it will serve me well in helping the team create something positive this season,' he said. Luqman Hakim was the first Malaysian player to sign a contract with a major European club for five seasons in 2020 before he even turned 18 and spent the period playing for the main squad and the development team before being loaned to foreign clubs such as the Icelandic League's main team Njarovik FC and Japanese club YSCC Yokohama. At today's launch, Tunku Syed Razman said the Warrix Concept Store and the NSFC 'Hobin' membership card were important in strengthening the professional football ecosystem in the state. The Warrix Concept Store is a centre for obtaining official jerseys and sports equipment, while the membership card provides benefits such as exclusive discounts at selected stores, pre-sale tickets and activities with NSFC players. - Bernama
