Keenum joined the Texans in 2023, where he served as another coach for then-rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who won Offensive Rookie of the Year, and was Houston's backup quarterback. Unfortunately, he never got an opportunity to see the field in 2024. Keenum suffered a season-ending foot injury during a preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. While Keenum missed the entire 2024 season, he remained part of the quarterback room and served as a sounding board for Stroud. Keenum hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2023, when he made two starts in place of Stroud. In the last five years, Keenum has appeared in 13 games, including four starts. The hope is Keenum won't see the field for Chicago in 2025 -- unless it's replacing Caleb Williams because the Bears are blowing out a team.

2025 outlook
The Bears signed Keenum this offseason to serve as another voice inside the quarterback room for second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. Keenum played a key role during Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud's rookie season, when he was dubbed Offensive Rookie of the Year. Now, alongside new head coach Ben Johnson, offensive coordinator Declan Doyle and quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett, Keenum will serve as a sounding board for Williams and help him maximize his potential. But outside of that, Keenum will also be competing for the backup quarterback job with Tyson Bagent, who's been QB2 for the past two seasons. For what it's worth, Keenum has been taking reps with the second-team offense throughout the offseason program, according to the media in attendance, so it certainly feels like it's his job to lose at this point. But it's also something to monitor heading into training camp.
Big Question: How much will Keenum help Williams develop in Year 2?
While Keenum is contending for the backup job with Bagent, there's little doubt about the reason he's in Chicago in the first place -- serving as another mentor for Williams, who's entering a pivotal second season. Keenum boasts a wealth of experience, which includes four years of starting experience and two playoff games (including one win), and he'll be a valuable sounding board for the Bears' young star. Keenum was considering retirement before a 15-minute meeting with Ben Johnson, where Keenum came away impressed with Williams and eager to help the young quarterback flourish. While Keenum is competing for the backup job, he understands his main role is to help Williams develop. Williams is learning his second offense in as many seasons, and Keenum will be key to helping Williams master this Ben Johnson offense and ask questions when needed. While coaches were limited with how much they can work with players each day during the offseason program, there's no such limit with players, and Williams and Keenum have been taking advantage of that.

After the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, Bulls general manager Marc Eversely confirmed Buzelis would play in Vegas, but he wasn't sure how long he'd play. It's fair to expect Buzelis to play for a game or two, but after that the Bulls shouldn't risk injury to one of the players the team has been very open about being a key part of their future. Advertisement Still, it will be fun to see where Buzelis is now compared to who he was when he first suited up in the Summer League. Noa Essengue The No. 12 overall pick should have his chances to show off in Vegas. The athletic, 6-foot-10 wing the Bulls see as a developmental piece for their future will probably be given the keys to playmake as much as possible in the same vein Buzelis was allowed to do last Summer League. It's the 18-year-old's chance to make a first basketball impression with the Bulls and Donovan, who will most likely get to work with Essengue with the Windy City Bulls at some point next season. Advertisement Emanuel Miller Miller is a player who stands to gain the most with the Bulls' staff. He played in six games for Chicago, totaling 10 points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes of game time. A consistent performance by Miller at Summer League should help bump those NBA minutes, especially early on if the Bulls mirror their developmental process they had with Buzelis for Essengue, which included sending Buzelis to the G-League at certain points to help get his confidence up. Miller could put himself in position to use that to his advantage. Yuki Kawamura Kawamura fits the Bulls' run-and-gun system, and a solid Summer League could help his cause if the Bulls continue to make offseason moves. Advertisement Spending last season with the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G-League, Kawamura shot 41% on 3-point shots and had eight games of four or more made 3-pointers during his rookie season. He was a fan favorite in Memphis, and has a massive following in Japan. Caleb Grill The rookie out of Missouri was a run-and-gun player under head coach Dennis Gates. He went nuclear in the month of February last year, helping Missouri earn wins over top-five-ranked teams Alabama, Florida and Kansas. Grill played at Iowa State and UNLV before transferring to Mizzou. He played nine games in the 2023-2024 season before bouncing back this past season where he averaged 13.7 points per game, shot .396 percent on 3-point shots and won the SEC's Sixth Man of the Year award. He had eight games of 20 points or more. Missouri went 7-1 in games where Grill scored 20 points or more.

"Every dollar came in at the exact time, to cover the next expense, as they came along." Braman started his career with the Texans after going undrafted in 2011. He spent three seasons there before joining the Eagles for another three in 2014. After his first stint in Philadelphia, Braman joined the New Orleans Saints before being placed on injured reserve, getting released one week later.
