Cyriel Dessers names dream transfer destinations after Rangers as he stresses his commitment to the Ibrox cause
Well-travelled Cyriel Dessers has revealed he wants to tick off some far-flung destinations on his football bucket list but remains dedicated to Rangers.
The 30-year-old has been eyed by Greek heavyweights Olympiacos and AEK Athens this summer with the latter warned off due to the Ibrox side's £5m asking price.
Dessers remains an integral part of Russell Martin's squad and won't depart this summer unless the figure they want is met for a player who has scored 51 goals over the past seasons.
And the Nigeria international has further adventures on his mind before he calls time on his career.
Speaking to Sportsboom, Dessers said: "It's a hard choice, let me say something more exotic.'
"But let me say a place like Japan, United States (MLS), South Africa or Nigeria. It would be nice to play there."
"I still have two years left on my contract with Rangers. It's a fantastic club, and I'm happy there.'
"When you score that number of goals, it's normal for other teams to show interest. I've seen the links with Olympiacos, but I don't know anything specific about that. These kinds of rumours are normal.'

Sunday's briefing: Eddie Howe frustrated by Isak saga as Wilson joins Hammers
In Scotland, the William Hill Premiership is under way. Howe frustrated by Isak saga Howe has described the affair as 'complex' (Adam Davy/PA) Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has admitted the situation surrounding unsettled striker Alexander Isak is 'far from ideal'. The Magpies rejected a £110million bid for the Sweden international on Friday from Liverpool, who recently beat them to the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt frontman Hugo Ekitike. The 25-year-old did not travel to Asia for Newcastle's pre-season tour due to what the club called a 'minor thigh injury', only for talk of his unhappiness to emerge. Howe said: 'I don't really know what is going to happen next. The situation is far from ideal and it is quite complex.' Newcastle, meanwhile, have signed Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a season-long loan with an option to buy and reportedly made a £65.4m bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. Wilson joins Hammers Wilson's career will continue in London (Bradley Collyer/PA) West Ham have signed Callum Wilson on a one-year contract following his release by Newcastle. The 33-year-old former Bournemouth striker scored 49 goals in 130 appearances in five years for the Magpies. Wilson said: 'I'm excited to be joining a massive football club like West Ham.' Holloway angered by fan behaviour Ian Holloway was appalled by the behaviour of a Swindon supporter (Nigel French/PA) Swindon boss Ian Holloway said he was 'absolutely disgusted' after a fan allegedly threw part of a seat at rival goalkeeper Myles Roberts in a tense 2-1 defeat at 10-man Walsall. The flashpoint occurred in stoppage time, shortly after Connor Barrett scored what proved the winner for the 10-man Saddlers in the Sky Bet League Two opener. Holloway added: 'Whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself. I am going to hunt you down and find you.' Opening day frustration for Rangers Rangers were pegged back by Motherwell (Andrew Milligan/PA) Rangers slipped at the starting line of their William Hill Premiership campaign as Motherwell hit back for a 1-1 draw at Fir Park. Gers skipper James Tavernier headed in from a corner in the 14th minute but Russell Martin's side never found any rhythm and Emmanuel Longelo drove in an equaliser three minutes from time. Newly-promoted Livingston came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Kilmarnock, who paid a heavy price for the sending-off of George Stanger. What's on today? Scottish champions Celtic begin their bid for a 14th title in 15 seasons as they host St Mirren. There are two other games in the SPL with promoted Falkirk taking on Dundee United and Dundee facing Hibernian.

Motherwell hit man admits Rangers frustration, but says goals will come
Apostolos Stamatelopoulos reckons he's getting closer to full sharpness Apostolos Stamatelopoulos was frustrated not to score against Rangers on Saturday, but reckons he's getting closer and closer to top form. The Australian striker got off the mark in the 3-0 win over Morton in Motherwell's Premier Sports Cup group stages finale, and bagged a late equaliser in the friendly against Hertha Berlin on July 25. That type of finish, nipping between defenders to sneak the ball in, is what Stamatelopoulos lives for, and he reckons they will come – even if he did everything except score against the Ibrox giants. He said: 'I definitely should have scored at least one of those chances, but I'm confident that it will come and I can start to put the ball in the back of the net. 'It's just one of those days, really, where it wasn't going for me, but I'm confident that as the season goes on, I'll definitely start hitting the back of the net. 'If I keep banging on the door it will open. I've scored two in the last two, and one of those was a friendly, but I was high on confidence going into this game. 'I think I was just lacking a little bit of sharpness. The header was close, I feel I got up well, I just needed to direct it a bit more, and it's those final little touches. 'But I can definitely see goals coming in the next couple of games.' Having come through a series of injuries last season, Stamatelopoulos is eager to get back to full fitness and wants more goals like the one against Hertha, where he latched onto a Callum Slattery cross from the right to steer the ball in at the near post. He said: 'It's what I live for in the box, those little ratty goals, getting in between defenders and finding space, and I felt I was doing that well, it's just the sharpness in finishing it off. 'I definitely think we could have walked away with three points [against Rangers], but we're happy with the point.' Motherwell head to Paisley on Saturday to take on St Mirren, and Stamatelopoulos said: 'It's a very important game, and hopefully we're going into it, wanting three points, to build on this performance. 'We're happy.'

Viktoria Plzen lowdown ahead of Rangers Champions League showdown as insider lifts lid on 'stubborn old fox'
Former Hearts assistant Frankir McAvoy dug out his notebook from last August to go through Plzen's dangermen. The wily old fox of Plzen has already fought off one young cub on Scottish soil. Viktoria boss Miroslav Koubek and his side were too cunning for Hearts and Steven Naismith over two Europa League qualifying legs last season. Now the 73-year-old is preparing for another battle with a manager almost half his age in this week's Champions League qualifying clash against Rangers. And former Jambos assistant Frankie McAvoy is confident this time Russell Martin and Rangers can leave the veteran Czech and his players feeding off Euro scraps. McAvoy knows Hearts missed an opportunity 12 months ago when they lost 1-0 to a 96th minute Daniel Oyegoke own goal in Pilsen before failing to perform as they went down 1-0 in the second leg at Tynecastle. The main players from that Viktoria side again came to the fore as they fought back from two goals behind to dump Servette on Wednesday night and set up the two-leg showdown with Rangers. Ahead of Tuesday's clash at Ibrox, McAvoy dug out his notebook from last August to give MailSport an insight into the men who made the Czechs tick including midfielder Pavel Sulc who could yet seal a €10m move to Lyon before facing Gers. But according to the former Preston North End boss, the man in the dug out was as important as any of his stars on the park. Koubek was a powerful force and tried to get in the Jambos' heads after accusing them of time wasting tactics in the first leg, something Naismith vehemently denied. He appeared ready to go to war with his own association on Thursday before his side's league fixture with Mlada Boleslav - scheduled for Saturday - was postponed to allow them to prepare for Ibrox. McAvoy told Record Sport: 'Their manager is a wily, old, experienced guy. He's been there a few years now. 'He was a nice enough guy but I'll tell you… he was desperate for them to do well, put it that way. 'A stubborn old fox is how I would describe him. 'The little interactions we had with him you could tell his players and staff knew exactly what he was expecting of them. And to be fair he's done really well. 'Plzen are a dangerous side. They always create chances. They were extremely organised against us. 'Great record at home. It's only 12,000 capacity but a great wee arena. Their fans get right behind their team as well. 'To be fair, we nearly got a draw over there. We played a 3-5-2 that became a back five when needed and at times a 5-4-1. 'We made it tough for them and had a few snips ourselves. 'They scored in the 96th minute. The ball got crossed from the right wing to the back post area and big Daniel couldn't get his feet sorted and toe poked it beyond Craig Gordon. 'It was a killer for us. We thought we did well over the piece. 'But we probably didn't do enough in the return leg at Tynecastle. We didn't perform as well as we'd hoped. 'That's where they really impressed me. They were good away from home, really well organised, and it looks like they have done the same against Servette the other night. 'They did well in the Europa League last year. They got to the last 16 and beat Real Sociedad, Anderlecht and Dynamo Kiev on the way. 'Their number 31, Sulc, He's a good player. Skilful, direct, found good areas. He was probably their most dangerous player ( 'They played a 3-4-3 or a 3-4-1-2. They've got a kid at the back, Sampson Dweh, number 40, he could play either centre or right side, powerful, strong. 'And the boy in the centre of the park, number six, Lukas Cerv, another good player, Czech international. 'They had a massive striker, Daniel Vasulin, Number 51, who was a real handful 'Then there's Matej Vydra who I noticed scored against Servette. He had a good time in English football. 'He didn't start against us. But he's technically very good. Runs in behind, gets opportunities and chances, and he's got a goal in him. 'I thought they were a decent outfit. 'But nothing for Rangers to fear. Rangers have got a good opportunity to get through. 'The first leg being at Ibrox might help. You saw how they dealt with Panathinaikos after getting a positive result in Glasgow. 'Ibrox, with 50,000 fans in there, they need to make it as raucous as they can. Plzen did well to perform at an electric Tynecastle but Ibrox full is a different kettle of fish.' McAvoy - now number two to Mark Hughes at Carlisle United - has taken a keen interest in Martin's start to life at Ibrox. He was Alex Neil's assistant at Norwich when Martin was club captain at Carrow Road. And he could tell then that the former Scotland defender had the leadership qualities to be a success in the dug out. McAvoy said: 'I watched the game the other night against Panathinaikos. They played well. I thought they kept the ball well, they looked comfortable. 'I was impressed. I've said before that I'm confident Russell will do a good job for Rangers. 'He has a good squad and it's building all the time. 'Joe Rothwell is an excellent signing. He keeps the ball well and has good leadership qualities. 'I know young Max Aarons as well. A great boy. He's started at left back but moved to the right by the end of the game the other night. 'He had a tough two games against their wide player, Pellistri. But he's a very good player Max and I'm sure Rangers will see that over the course of the season. 'Russ will be looking at areas they can improve on. But they have got to take great confidence into the Plzen tie because Panathinaikos is as tough as they could have got at that stage. 'I was really impressed with them the other night. When you go away from home you've got to dig in and see out tough periods of the game. Sometimes you need a little luck. 'They scored at a magnificent time and after that I thought they were comfortable. 'Don't forget, Panathinaikos are a top team and there's not many people gave Rangers a chance because they're a new team with a new manager. 'Credit to Russ and his team. I really hope they can do the same against Plzen and I fancy them to get a good result.'
