Rap star Logic was determined to become a film direclt
The 35-year-old rapper - whose real name is Sir Robert Bryson Hall II - has been known for his contribution to the music industry but recently helmed the comedy-drama Paradise Records and claimed that "nothing will stop" him from exploring his new career.
He told Collider: "Nothing will stop me from making films. I'm going to make movies, and I'm going to do it my way. I will have full creative control and final cut, or you can eat my ass. This is my mentality because we, as creatives and artists, are told, 'No and no, and this is why, XYZ.' F*** that s***. Because if you don't want to give me the money, I'll just go do it myself and then I will sell it or make money from it. That's not arrogance. That's, 'F*** you for telling me no so long that I thought I couldn't do it,' and then woke up one day after Kevin Smith spit in my face and was like, 'Do this!'"
The Under Pressure hitmaker added that he has before "kind of lost" within himself in the last few years, and he was "terrified" to jump ship so he could be behind the camera.
He said: "For the last five years, or at least for three of those years, I was kind of lost, trying to figure out what I wanted to do. It always kept coming back to film, like, 'Make film, make film' because I was so terrified to do it. So being able to talk to you gives me this feeling that I had when I was younger — not like I'm trying to chase like a crack pipe or anything, but it's a fun feeling is what I'm saying."

Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage cast in The Adam Trials
Martin Freeman and Iain Armitage are to star in The Adam Trials. The duo have signed up to appear in the psychological thriller that contains a sci-fi twist from writer-director Ben Katai. The movie centres on the story of two parents who will do anything to save the life of their terminally ill son, including experimenting with nanotechnology that begins to show successful signs but at a dark cost. Compelling Pictures are producing the film whilst Freeman is on board as an executive producer with Noah Rosen, Dennis Casali, Matthew Gallagher and Steven Garcia. Casting for the female lead has started as the movie aims to shoot this year. Katai - who previously collaborated with Freeman on the crime drama series StartUp - said: "This movie has been a dream of mine for quite some time now, as has the opportunity to work with Martin again. "Now with Iain's talent in the mix, I am counting the seconds until we start rolling." Compelling Pictures boss Denis O'Sullivan said: "As lifelong fans of thought-provoking, grounded sci-fi, it's thrilling to be part of bringing this pressure-cooker of a movie to the screen with the enormously talented Ben Katai. "Audiences will be on the edge of their seats watching the cat-and-mouse game that unfolds between Martin and Iain as the story hurtles towards a stunning final twist." Martin's previous film credits include Love Actually and The Hobbit franchise and he revealed back in 2022 that he would "consider" directing a big screen flick. The 53-year-old actor told Collider: "It's something that I would consider. I do think about it. I change with it, really. Sometimes when I'm on set and I see what a director does, I look at it and go, 'Yeah, I could do that. I'd be right with this part of it.' However, the Black Panther star isn't sure if he has the "mental bandwidth" to deal with the "endless questions" that are asked of directors during the making of a movie. Martin said: "But then, there are other parts of directing that I'm still not sure I'd have the mental bandwidth for, just with the endless questions and how you have to be across everything. I know I would enjoy the bits where I'm rehearsing with actors. I don't know how good I'd be at the other stuff, or how much I'd enjoy that stuff. But never say never. If I get the confidence to think I could do it, then maybe so." The star plays CIA operative Everett K. Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but admits that there was a "gap" on set of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever without the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the title role in the original film before his death from cancer at the age of 43 in 2020. Freeman said: "It was strange, that side of it. On the one hand, you're making the film that you're there to make, and there are scores and scores of people on set, joined in this endeavor to make the film. But there's also no question that, at the heart of it, there's quite a gap now, and you felt it."

Zoe Saldana ate green apples to prepare for Elio voice role
Zoe Saldana ate lots of green apples before lending her voice to Elio. The 47-year-old actress voices the character of Olga Solis in the new Disney Pixar animated film and explained that she snacked on fruit to soften her voice before she worked on the project. Speaking to Collider, Zoe said: "This is definitely not the first animation that I've voiced, and I feel that I've gotten better at understanding what my voice needs, which is rest the day before and a lot of green apples the day of, because there's something about what green apples do to your palate. "It kind of softens your taste buds, that way you don't get a pasty sort of sound that, if you're in a booth, can be really loud." The Oscar-winning star also revealed that she requested to shoot the shouting scenes last so her voice was well-equipped for the emotional scenes. Saldana said: "Always ask to have all the screaming scenes or lines to be last, that way you get through all the dialogue, all the emotional scenes, and then you get to the ones where you're making a lot of noise." The Emilia Perez actress revealed that she "incorporated" a lot of her own qualities into Olga and explained that she loves the "natural passion" that goes into making animated movies because it's such a long process to get them to the big screen. She explained: "For this one, I jumped on board after so many of the components were already there, but we still had enough space for nuances and to improvise some things, so I was able to incorporate so much of who I am into Olga to make her feel authentically me, and I love that. "It hasn't happened in a long time. But usually I do like the process of it because it gives me the ability to get to know the animator more, to get to know the filmmaker more." The Avatar star continued: "This is a world where everybody who joins animation is because they have an innate desire, a natural passion to do it, because it is a time-consuming way of telling stories. "You write something 15 years before, and then you're finally getting to do it, and it takes you five years. And as time goes by, we're able to reduce that time to maybe two years or three years, but it's still a group of people that are coming together to put something together, and I really admire that whole process because it takes dedication, but it takes love." Zoe revealed that she "collapsed" shortly after winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress earlier this year for her portrayal of Rita Mora Castro in Emilia Perez. She said: "I collapsed right after. I lost my voice within an hour after I won the award. "I couldn't stand on those heels that I had. All I wanted to do was crawl in bed and maybe cry. I don't know why, I needed to cry. "Your body is running on pure adrenaline, so you know that your immune system is in optimal condition, but once you know you tell your body that it's over, then everything sort of collapses."

Aaron Taylor-Johnson hails director Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later approach
Aaron Taylor-Johnson says the 28 Years Later cast were given "freedom of space to make mistakes" by director Danny Boyle. The 35-year-old actor plays Jamie in the new post-apocalyptic horror movie and praised the experimental approach that the acclaimed filmmaker took to the project. Aaron told Collider: "I think most days were definitely a new experience for me, and for us. Very creative. He was experimenting with these different cameras and different rigs and stuff, and not always with a sense of, like, 'This is how it's going to work.' "Some things he'd be like, 'Look, I don't know', and that was quite refreshing because it meant that there was this freedom of space to make mistakes, but be creative and find something new. "He's exceptional. When you're in the hands of Danny, he's got such an enthusiasm and this great energy, he really makes you feel in the safest of hands." Aaron features alongside Jodie Comer in the film with the pair as married couple Jamie and Isla – with Alfie Williams portraying their 12-year-old son Spike – and revealed that he and the Killing Eve actress spoke at length about the background to their characters in the flick that marks the latest installment of the 28 Days Later franchise. The Kraven the Hunter star said: "I feel like there was definitely a lot of love there in their relationship, but we had this two-week period before in the rehearsal period to really kind of dive into how they may have found each other, their relationship to the community, the island. "The one thing that they both can agree on is that they adore their son, and they've raised their son in this community." Taylor-Johnson added: "So, it's fractured, and it's complex, and I like that humanity, that sort of human, flawed aspect of it. Yeah, we talked a lot about the backstory to feel like it was grounded in something." Jodie felt that it was important for the duo to "understand" the background to their alter egos, even though it was often forgotten about when the pair were acting together on set. The 32-year-old star said: "It was like you say, it was important for us to understand that, and honestly, you then have to kind of forget it when you get on the set because you're faced with the material in front of you and where they are at this present moment. "But yeah, it was always important for us to feel that we knew the history before they got to this point." Meanwhile, Aaron revealed that he was "hugely impressed" with the attitude of his young co-star Williams – who is just 14 years of age. He said: "I was hugely impressed with Alfie's focus and his energy every single day. He was so switched on and gave it his all, and terrific to work with. "To have collaborative conversations with Danny and come up with great thoughts and opinions on his character in the scenes, he truly came to work prepared every day. So, it was very impressive, emotionally."
