With his gaunt features and quiet authority, Colley stood out in a galaxy packed with larger-than-life characters—earning a rare return for a second film as Darth Vader's highest-ranking officer. His agent, Julian Owen, confirmed that Colley died on June 30 at a hospital in Ashford, England, from complications of pneumonia after contracting COVID-19. He had injured his arm in a fall and became ill while hospitalized, an all-too-familiar trajectory during the pandemic years, when hospital-acquired infections sharply increased pneumonia risk, particularly among the elderly. In some cases, the symptoms can spread into the lungs and trigger pneumonia across both. COVID-related pneumonia has proven to be especially aggressive and, at times, fatal. In severe cases, these sacs flood with fluid or pus, cutting off oxygen and making every breath feel like a struggle. People often report exhaustion, chest discomfort, fever, and a cough that doesn't let up. Treatments range from over-the-counter fever reducers to hospital care with oxygen or, in the worst scenarios, ventilators. Though pneumonia can follow colds or flu, it's not limited to viruses. Bacteria, fungi, or any other invading organism can be behind it. But what sets COVID-19 pneumonia apart is how quickly it can escalate. Preliminary signs of COVID-19 include: fever, a dry cough, shortness of breath, Fatigue, chills, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, belly pain, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, runny nose, pinkeye, and skin rashes. If your COVID-19 infection begins to develop into pneumonia, the symptoms can also include rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, dizziness, and heavy sweating. People who are most at risk are older people, above the age of 65 in general, and even more so if past 85. Further, people who are already dealing with chronic diseases like asthma, heart disease, and liver disease are also at risk due to weak metabolism and immunity.

Raghav Chadha Says Annual Health Checkups A "Luxury", Should Be For All
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Monday demanded that every citizen be granted a legal right to Annual Health Checkups, highlighting that the early diagnosis of diseases could save countless lives and ease the burden on India's healthcare system. During a Special Mention in the Upper House, Mr Chadha said, "Annual health checkups have become a luxury in our country - something only the affluent can afford. A mother who never knew she had cancer, a son who discovered his blood pressure only after a stroke, a sister whose vision loss revealed diabetes - these stories are far too common." Referring to the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and several viral videos of young people suffering cardiac arrests on a daily basis, Mr Chadha said the time has come for structured, state-sponsored preventive healthcare becoming central to India's public health policy. Mr Chadha said that only 2 per cent of Indian women have undergone cancer screening, citing data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), terming it "deeply alarming." He urged the government to make affordable, accessible and routine health screenings a legal right for every citizen, with systems in place across urban and rural India. "In several countries, governments proactively conduct health checkups. They invite citizens to participate and ensure that illnesses are caught early," Mr Chadha said in Parliament. Speaking to NDTV after raising the issue in Parliament, Mr Chadha said, "This is standard practice in most developed countries, but sadly not in India. If the government allows this, I don't think it will be a huge financial burden." He added, "In fact, it will actually bring healthcare expenditure down in the long run. When illnesses are detected early, we avoid the need for prolonged and costly treatments in government hospitals." A study published in the Lancet journal found that around 55 per cent of heart attack deaths in India occur due to delays in seeking timely diagnosis. Mr Chadha concluded by saying, "Jaan hai, toh janch hai. But janch hogi, tabhi toh jaan bachegi (If there is life, then there is a diagnosis. But lives can only be saved if there is a diagnosis)."

Imran Khans party wins 6 seats from KPK in senate elections: Unofficial results
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Peshawar, Jul 21 (PTI) Former premier Imran Khan's party on Monday secured six of the 11 Senate seats up for grabs from Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, according to unofficial results. The opposition bagged five seats in the elections held for the Upper House of the Parliament, the returning officer told journalists after the polling. The voting took place for 11 Senate seats with all 145 members of the provincial assembly casting their votes, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The official results would be declared by the ECP through a notification in a few days. Out of the seven general seats, Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged victorious on four. Party candidates Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Afridi, and Noorul Haq Qadri won general seats, according to the provincial election commission spokesman. On the opposition side, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's Niaz Ahmad, Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Talha Mahmood, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam's Atta-ul-Haq secured the remaining three general seats.
