Information dept funds being misused to spread rumours on Apna Dal(S): Ashish Patel
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Ashish Patel wrote, 'What is the pressure of the Information Department's Rs 1700-crore budget and what all one has to write and do under this pressure? One should ask a section of the media.'
He added, 'Under the pressure of this budget, Apna Dal-S is broken every day. Sometimes they have to run the news of nine MLAs fleeing and sometimes they have to spread the news of 12 MLAs switching sides. My wise and unsolicited advice to this section of the media is that do not keep up the daily hassles. In a single day, in fact today itself, divide Apna Dal (S) into as many parts as you want. As per your wish, get as many MLAs nine, ten or twelve included in whichever parties you want, get them done today itself.'
Targeting the media and alleging that it was writing under pressure from the information department, Ashish said that this way 'people pressuring you will also be happy and the Information Department's budget of Rs 1700 crore will also be utilized properly.'
Patel, who had in the past also alleged 'conspiracy at work' claimed that Apna Dal is built by deprived and exploited sections of the society.
He said that the party is used to such conspiracies since its inception and that workers would not be misled by it.
When contacted Ashish Patel said that the reason for this post was that perception was being created on the basis of statements of those, who were expelled by the party a few years ago.
'Statements of those who were expelled from the party years back are being taken into consideration to project a 'split' in the party. What else can we say, except that we would. Ot be demoralized by these conspiracies and rumours. As for the rest, I have said in my post,' Ashish told The Indian Express.

ATS expands probe into Chhangur Baba's syndicate, teams sent to Maha, Nepal border
Lucknow: In the ongoing investigation into the alleged religious conversion syndicate run by Jamaluddin, also known as Chhangur Baba, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has dispatched multiple teams to and districts bordering Nepal to unravel the network's financial and logistical links. These properties, including high-value real estate in Pune, are suspected to have been purchased or encroached upon through benami transactions. A contentious land deal allegedly linked to the Chhangur Baba's network also implicates Sangita Devi, wife of a Balrampur court clerk, as a beneficiary in a profit-sharing agreement. ATS officials said they are working in coordination with the Maharashtra Police to verify property documents and question individuals associated with Chhangur Baba's operations in Nagpur, including his key aide, Idul Islam. Described as Baba's right-hand man in Maharashtra, Islam wields considerable political influence and allegedly runs an NGO through which illegal religious conversions were conducted. He is among the accused named in the FIR registered in Lucknow. Another accused Ramzan from Gonda is also under the scanner. Known as a middleman, Ramzan reportedly sourced vulnerable individuals for conversion and is suspected to have strong ties with operatives in districts along the Nepal border. Following the demolition of Chhangur Baba's palatial property in Utraula, Balrampur, valued at over Rs 3 crore, authorities are now searching for other properties that may have been acquired through illicit means. ATS arrested Chhangur Baba and Nasreen from Balrampur on July 5. A cash reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for information leading to Chhangur Baba's arrest.

Lucknow: Body of man who fell into open drain during rain found; CM orders action
The body of a 32-year-old painter, who allegedly fell into an open drain in Lucknow's Thakurganj area on Saturday during heavy rainfall, was recovered on Sunday following an extensive search. His body was recovered from the drain, a short distance from the spot where he had allegedly fallen. 'The body is being sent for postmortem. No case has been registered so far,' said Assistant Superintendent of Police, Lucknow, Raj Kumar Singh. According to police, Suresh was on his way to work when he allegedly slipped into an open drain after stepping on a broken slab. 'It is suspected that due to heavy rainfall and water overflowing on the road, he could not see the open drain,' a police officer said. Upon receiving information, teams from multiple agencies – police, Nagar Nigam, and the State Disaster Response Force — reached the spot and launched a search operation. 'When Suresh could not be located initially, it was feared he had been swept away. Residents protested, accusing the Nagar Nigam of gross negligence. They claimed that repeated complaints about the broken slab had been ignored,' an official said. Protesters also blocked the road, and the matter was resolved after officials assured them that swift action against those responsible. Lodhi is survived by his wife and three minor children. Maintaining that a thorough probe will be conducted into the role of the officials and agencies concerned, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered suspension of a junior engineer, notice to assistant engineer, and Rs 9 lakh (Rs 5 lakh from CM Relief Fund and Rs 4 lakh from Disaster Relief Fund) as aid to the victim's family. He said that no negligence towards public safety will be tolerated and directed the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department to ensure full accountability in the incident. He also ordered an FIR against the construction agency so that those guilty of negligence are punished. It is not just an accident, but a serious administrative failure, the CM added.

'Not Intimated Earlier': Siddaramaiah Wants Bridge Inauguration Postponed
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday urged Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari to postpone the inauguration of Sigandur bridge and the foundation stone laying ceremony of infrastructure projects at Sagara taluk in Shivamogga on July 14, stating that he was not "intimated" in advance. Citing his scheduled visit to Indi taluk in Vijayapura district, the Chief Minister in a letter to Mr Gadkari said, it would have been more appropriate for MoRTH to have consulted with the state government before scheduling such a programme, and requested him to instruct the officials in this regard. "It has come to my notice that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways along with National Highway Authority of India is organising "Dedication to Nation and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony" Programme on 14th of July, 2025 in Nehru Field, Sagara Taluk, Shivamogga District, and my name has also been printed in the draft invitation card. However, I have not been intimated about this programme in advance," Siddaramaiah said in his letter. Noting that an inauguration programme of various developmental schemes is already scheduled under his Chairmanship in Indi taluka of Vijayapura district on the same day, he said it would have been more appropriate for MoRTH to have consulted with the state government before scheduling the state-level programmes. "Therefore, I request you to instruct the department to coordinate with the state government while organising such programmes. Also, I request you to postpone this programme and provide me with a couple of dates convenient to you, so that I would be able to join you in this significant state-level programme," he added. Mr Gadkari is scheduled to inaugurate "Sigandur Bridge", which is said to be India's second-longest cable-stayed bridge between Ambaragodlu-Kalasavalli in Sagara taluk on Monday. The bridge has been built at a cost of Rs 473 crore and is 2.44 km long, official sources said. Earlier in the day, Shivamogga district in-charge Minister Madhu Bangarappa told reporters, "I have not got an invitation officially, there is some confusion. I feel that the Chief Minister has been disrespected by the central government...." Sagara Congress MLA Belur Gopalakrishna said he too has not got any invitation and has no information. He also hit out at Shivamogga BJP MP BY Raghavendra for making it a party event.
