Owned by Chinese EV giant BYD, this new brand is set to launch in the UK this year.
Denza has been around since 2010 - but now stands almost shoulder to shoulder with BYD as its premium sibling brand.
Originally a joint venture with Mercedes Benz's parents company - the firm is now owned in full by BYD.
The first of its cars headed for Europe is the Z9GT.

This shooting brake comes either as a 925bhp EV or an 858bhp PHEV version.
Shortly after, a seven-seat MPV called the D9 will also release in the UK.
Although an official timeline hasn't been set, Denza will likely join the UK market by the end of this year.

French brand Mobilize are looking to enter the "sub-A-segment" to challenge the likes of the Citroën Ami and Micro Microlino electric quadricycles.
Owned by Renault, the Mobilize Duo has been dubbed the French car giant's spiritual successor.
The big battery version can reportedly travel up to a whopping 100 miles.
And a van version of the car called the Bento gets rid of the single rear seat in exchange for more boot space.

The Onvo L60 SUV

Also parented by Nio, this Chinese brand was founded in 2024 but is already being compared to the likes of Tesla and Polestar.
The car is gearing up to land in the UK due to our lack of import tariffs on Chinese EVs.
The L60 will be the first car to arrive in the UK.

Onvo called it the most aerodynamically efficient SUV on the entire market.
It will likely come with three BYD-supplied battery packs - the largest of which will offer a 620-mile range.

The prestigious Yangwang, also owned by BYD, will also be coming to the UK.

Its biggest car - the mammoth Yangwang U8 SUV - should be on its way later this year.
This off-roader can turn on a sixpence thanks to its quad motors, makes 1180bhp and has a kerb weight of nearly 3,500kg.
It can also even float in water for up to half an hour.
The incredible design is a range-extender with four motors, a 49kWh battery and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine working as a generator.

Lepas
And finally this Chinese brand which owns Jaecoo and Omoda is also getting ready to launch its third brand, Lepas, into the UK.
Owned by Chery, the Tiggo 4 Pro from Lepas will rival the Dacia Duster when it comes to the UK this year.
It is already sold in right-hand drive markets like South Africa and Australia - with it costing about £13,000 down under.
But its low price may not remain that way once it is sold here.

Jaecoo and Omoda's focus is large, semi-premium SUVs - while Lepas will be positioned more towards the higher value end of the market.

John Whelan: Trade war leaves Ireland's booming aviation sector vulnerable
US president Donald Trump's threat of a 30% tariff on EU goods from August 1 puts Ireland's continued growth narrative at risk. Exporters of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food and drink, and aviation services consider a 30% tariffs on their sales to the US would be very damaging and, in many instances, make supplying their customers across the Atlantic unsustainable. However, having been caught off guard by a letter threatening the 30% duty on EU goods the weekend before last, the European Commission last week quickly tabled a plan to put counter tariffs worth €72bn on imports of US goods. Inevitably, this will hit the European Union's own economy, with Ireland potentially being one of the most impacted. The proposed EU retaliatory tariffs target imports of industrial goods from the US, including aircraft and aircraft parts, machinery, automotives, chemicals and plastics, and medical devices and equipment. Potential EU countermeasures on aircraft imports, coupled with retaliation from the US administration, could risk Ireland's position as a world-leading hub in aviation. Aviation is a highly important part of the Irish trading base, covering aircraf and parts and set to be heavily impacted by EU countermeasures. Potential EU import restrictions on these goods, worth nearly €14bn, according to a document from the Central Statistics Office, would be very damaging to many companies in the sector, including the lucrative aircraft leasing sector. A recent report by aviation investment group Irelandia said the industry in Ireland accounts for 37% of the global commercial fleet, making Ireland a central player in the world's air transport infrastructure. Within the EU member states, the country with the biggest US aircraft imports in 2024 was Ireland, followed by France, the Netherlands, and Germany. Ryanair, Europe's largest airline, imports new aircraft on a regular basis. A 30% import duty would significantly increase the cost of acquiring these new planes. Increased import costs would also likely lead to higher operating expenses for Ryanair. This could affect their ability to maintain their low-cost model and potentially lead to fare increases or reduced profitability. If the cost of new aircraft becomes prohibitive, it could also delay Ryanair's expansion plans, potentially affecting the addition of new routes and increased flights on existing routes. Furthermore, increased costs might lead to a reduction in the number of aircraft available for service, potentially impacting their operational efficiency. Ryanair has already threatened to cancel orders for hundreds of Boeing aircraft if a US tariff war leads to materially higher prices, and said it could look at alternative suppliers, including Chinese plane maker COMAC. However, this will still leave Ryanair exposed to higher costs on Boeing-related maintenance, repair, and overhaul, all increasingly critical with the growth of their fleet. A new import tariff would add to these challenges, potentially exacerbating existing operational difficulties. Aviation between the US and EU is a highly interconnected sector. French multinational aerospace and defence company Thales with a manufacturing base in Northern Ireland, and supplies US-based Boeing and European competitor Airbus with flight management systems and cockpit displays. In exchange, US aerospace giant Honeywell provides flight management systems for Airbus. Hence, the EU's potential retaliatory tariffs on US-made aircraft could escalate the trade war to impact a wider range of aviation products exported to the US. Eurostat figures show Boeing earned €7.5bn of its revenues from Europe in 2024. Airbus had sales of €16bn to the US last year. Future sales would likely be caught in the crossfire. Ireland is already facing a serious hit to its economy due to potentially high tariffs on exports to the US after the August 1 deadline. After Germany, Ireland could be the most affected economies in the EU. Retaliatory actions by the EU could then be more damaging than increased US tariffs on exports. Brussels says it is still seeking a deal to avoid a tit-for-tat escalation in the trade war but is poised to retaliate if needed. Preparations for retaliation are underway. Some commentators believe it is time for the EU to put its guns on the table in the tariff spat and show strength and determination. But there may be extensive consequences. Brussels-based think tank Bruegel has estimated that Ireland's cumulative real GDP loss, due to the total impact of US tariffs, could be 3% by 2028.

But questions hang over whether Leapmotor — and other Chinese EV makers — will qualify at all. To get the full Government grant, manufacturers must meet green targets under the Science-Based Targets initiative, a framework that rates the environmental impact of vehicle production, including energy use at factories. Transport Minister Lilian Greenwood has warned that vehicles made in China may not be eligible. Speaking on the BBC's Today programme, she said factories powered by coal are unlikely to meet the Government's strict criteria. She added that only brands reaching minimum environmental standards will be approved for taxpayer support. This has sparked tension with the Chinese government. A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in London said the UK must follow World Trade Organisation rules and avoid discriminatory policies. They warned they are monitoring the situation closely and would defend the rights of Chinese companies. The T03 is being offered on a four-year personal contract purchase plan at just £169 per month with a £169 deposit. EU commissioner shocked Michael McGrath by dangers of some goods sold by Shein and Temu
EU justice Michael McGrath commissioner has expressed shock at the toxicity and dangers of some goods being sold by Shein and Temu, amid a crackdown on the popular Chinese retail platforms. With 12m low-value parcels each day coming into the EU from online retailers outside the bloc, Michael McGrath has vowed to crack down on the sale of goods that blatantly break the law. He is waiting for the imminent results of an EU-wide secret shopper operation to further test evidence already gathered that Chinese retailers are bypassing EU laws. Among the worst examples Mr McGrath came across were baby soothers with beads that fall off easily, which pose a choking hazard because they did not have the regulation size hole to enable a baby who did swallow one accidentally to continue to get air. Among other goods cited by MEPs in a report released this month include children's raincoats with toxic chemicals, sunglasses with no UV filter and kids shorts with draw strings longer than regulation length that cause a trip hazard. They also found cosmetics containing butylphenyl methylpropional, also known as Lillal, which is listed as a chemical of 'very high concern' by the EU and has been banned since 2022 over concerns that it affects fertility and fetal development. National consumer protection authorities send out rapid alerts across the EU warning of unsafe non-food products as part of a service, Safety Gate, which is also open to consumer complaints. Last year, Safety Gate received a record high of 4,137 alerts with more than a third relating to cosmetics, ahead of toys, electrical appliances, auto and chemical products. While consumer groups are concerned about safety, Mr McGrath is also worried that the platforms which have exploded in popularity in the last two years are damaging local businesses through unfair competition. The growth is extraordinary, and it has placed enormous pressure on the systems at member state level. 'I am determined that we step up our enforcement of our product safety laws and our consumer protection rules," he said. "It's not only about protecting consumers, but there is a very serious level playing field issue here for European businesses, because they are expected to compete with sellers who are not complying with our rules." 'They are incurring significant costs in Europe to comply with our requirements, and they should not be expected to compete with those who are not doing the same.' EU figures show 12m low-value items coming into the bloc a day, amounting to 4.6bn consignments under €150 for 2024 – double that of 2023 and three times as many as 2022. Among the moves the EU is considering is an abolition of the €150 duty-free threshold and the introduction of a handling fee for each package which may deter low-value purchases and help pay the cost of extra customs investigations. The move would echo the situation in the US, where Donald Trump signed an executive order to end the $800 duty-free threshold in an assault on the Chinese sellers. American buyers have had to pay an additional 30% tax or a minimum of $50 an item after 1 June this year. Also possible is the creation of a EU-wide customs authority to cope with the systemic issues. Mr McGrath said it 'remains to be seen' if the subject will be raised at an EU-China summit in Beijing on 25 July but he plans to address it directly himself. 'It will certainly be engaging directly with Chinese authorities and we will visiting later on this year,' he said. Shein said it was investing $15m this year in compliance and safety initiatives including 2.5m product and safety quality tests and has partnerships with 15 testing centres. It said it had removed 500 vendors since the launch of its marketplace. A spokesperson said: 'Earning and maintaining the trust of our consumers is paramount, and we are fully committed to ensuring the products we offer are safe and compliant." 'All of our vendors are required to comply with Shein's code of conduct and stringent safety standards, and must also abide by the relevant laws and regulations of the markets where we operate.'
