Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart launched: Key features and updates explained
Hyundai Exter, the smallest SUV from the stables of Hyundai Motor India was recently updated. While the new update did not bring in any mechanical or design changes, it added two new variants in the Exter lineup. Interestingly, this was the third time in 2025 when the Hyundai Exter lineup was updated. Here's what the latest update to the Exter lineup brings to the table.
1 Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart: Price
The price of the petrol MT and AMT variants of S Smart are pegged at ₹ 7,68,490 and ₹ 8,39,090 respectively while the CNG option is priced at ₹ 8,62,890. The price of SX Smart in the petrol manual version is ₹ 8,16,290 while the AMT variant is priced at ₹ 8,83,290. The price of the SX Smart Hy-CNG Duo is ₹ 9,18,490. All prices are ex-showroom.
3 Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart: Features
The Exter S Smart features a smart electric sunroof, LED taillamps, highline tyre pressure monitoring system, R15 (380.2 mm) styled steel wheels, rear AC vents, and LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), which is a strong value proposition in its class.
Building on this, the Exter SX Smart adds even more convenience with a smart key featuring push button start, sharkfin antenna, and projector headlamps, in addition to all the features offered in the S Smart variant. These updates not only improve the overall driving experience but also bring a touch of sophistication to Hyundai's compact SUV offering.

Hyundai Ioniq 2 spotted testing: Is this India's next compact EV?
The Hyundai Ioniq 2 has recently been spotted in its early test phase under heavy camouflage, and the upcoming compact EV appears to be ready for production, with several design elements already visible to the naked eye. With this, the South Korean carmaker joins the competition to make an affordable electric vehicle for the mass market. The Ioniq 2 is expected to debut in September 2025 at the Munich auto show, with a global launch to take place next year. Ioniq cars have generally embraced the crossover design, but the upcoming Ioniq 2 will feature a hatchback body. To be slotted between the Inster and the Kona Electric, it will be positioned as the most compact electric car in Hyundai's portfolio. Its UI is similar to that of the typical smartphone, and the end-to-end platform integrates the vehicle operating system and the infotainment with high-performance chips and cloud infrastructure. Hyundai Ioniq 2: Expected battery and range Hyundai developed the Ioniq 2 alongside the Kia EV2, with the two sharing several features and parts. Both are underpinned by a low-cost, front-wheel drive version of the EV-only E-GMP platform, similar to the 400V architecture that underpins the larger EV3. While Kia sells its crossover with 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh options, the Ioniq 2 is not expected to go as far. Sticking to the popular FWD drivetrain with a smaller battery will allow Hyundai to optimise costs. To paint a clearer picture, the EV3 currently offers a single-charge driving of up to 605 km with its biggest battery pack, while putting out 201 bhp and 283 Nm of torque. The Ioniq 2 is expected to fall slightly short of that, while still bringing decent figures for urban commutes. At present, there is no official confirmation from Hyundai about launching the Ioniq 2 in the Indian market, but the compact EV could be well suited for our shores. The company is dedicated to expanding its EV lineup on our shores, having recently launched the Ioniq 5 and Creta Electric. Hyundai India shrugs off rare earth magnet crisis, export grows despite domestic market challenge
Hyundai India seems to be unfazed y the rare eareth magnet crisis that started with Chinese government imposing a ban on export of the critical materials earlier this year. The South Korean auto giant's India wing downplayed concerns over China's rare-earth magnet export ban and claimed that its current stockpile of rare earth magnet is sufficient to handle any near term disruptions. This comes on the back of the concerns that the Chinese government's export ban on rare earth magnets, which are critical for the auto industry, may create a massive disruptions in the sector. Reuters has quoted Hyundai's manufacturing head Gopalakrishnan C S saying that the company remains unaffected by the ban for now, with adequate inventory. "With rare earth as such, we are not facing any issue. We have adequate inventory for the near term already," he said. Also Read : Upcoming cars in India Meanwhile, the OEM recorded a 13 per cent year-on-year rise in exports that helped it cushion a six per cent drop in quarterly sales, and the automaker expects overseas shipments to grow by up to eight per cent this fiscal year. Hyundai India's Managing Director Unsoo Kim said that he expects the momentum to continue, with exports making up 27 per cent of first-quarter sales and a 30 per cent share targeted for the full year. However, in the last quarter, domestic sales of Hyundai dropped by 12 per cent. For revival of the domestic demand, Hyundai, like several of its peers, is banking on the upcoming festive season and easing interest rates. While Hyundai Creta remained the segment leader, propelling the brand's domestic sales in India, in the CNG segment, the automaker has witnessed good growth. In an official statement, Hyundai said that it recorded enhanced CNG contribution of 15.6 per cent in its total sales, propelled by the introduction of dual-cylinder technology and new variants.
