Turning Closed Doors into New Opportunities with the Association of Related Churches
Mark Francey, co-founder of Oceans Church in Orange County, California, knows that the path to starting something new can be uncertain. Before planting Oceans Church, Mark and Rachelle built their lives in Idaho for nearly two decades, initially hesitant to leave the familiarity of their established community.
Their eventual move was not immediate or simple. Instead, they opted for a patient approach, influenced by mentors, including those from the Association of Related Churches, who encouraged them to wait for clarity rather than rush into decisions. This patience ultimately allowed them to seize the right opportunities at the right time. Building Momentum through Patience and Positive Relationships
Mark emphasizes the importance of transitioning gracefully from one phase to the next. Leaving Idaho with positive relationships intact allowed Mark and Rachelle to start fresh in California. This smooth transition helped set the tone for their new venture.
But even with careful planning, challenges inevitably arose. Early logistical problems, like losing access to their meeting location, could have halted their progress. Instead, they chose to see these setbacks as opportunities to innovate and adapt, fostering creativity and resilience in their team. Transforming Obstacles into Innovative Solutions
This approach aligns closely with principles taught by the Association of Related Churches, which emphasize adaptability and resilience as key attributes for anyone starting new ventures. Rather than viewing obstacles as purely negative, the Franceys recognized these moments as opportunities to grow stronger and more resourceful. Creating Community Impact with Initiatives like Baptize America
Mark and his team also initiated a community-driven event called Baptize America, first piloted in Southern California. What started as a regional gathering quickly gained attention, spreading across various states. The initiative effectively created a sense of unity and shared purpose, highlighting how powerful a community-oriented project can become when it genuinely resonates with people. Discovering Your Unique Path to Leadership and Success
For those considering launching their own projects, Mark encourages authenticity and self-awareness. Rather than copying someone else's blueprint, Mark recommends embracing the unique skills and experiences each person naturally possesses. "Success comes from authentically leaning into your personal strengths," he says. The Association of Related Churches: Equipping Leaders for Lasting Influence
Mark's experiences illustrate a universal truth about leadership and growth: Facing setbacks with patience, humility, and adaptability can open doors to new opportunities. Organizations like the Association of Related Churches support leaders as they navigate these transitions, emphasizing the value of viewing closed doors not as failures, but as opportunities to discover better paths forward. About the Association of Related Churches (ARC):

56-year-old Dustin Rhodes wins AEW gold in his home state
The crowd in Globe Life Field, and the AEW announcers and wrestlers on our screen, were still processing Adam Cole's possible retirement announcement from moments before. But the show must go on, and a new TNT champion needed to be crowned after Cole vacated. Cole's originally scheduled opponent Kyle Fletcher was a part of the 4-way for the vacant belt, as was previous champ Daniel Garcia. Both Garcia and his mentor Matt 'Daddy Magic' Menard shared a moment with Cole during their entrance. Three-time TNT titleholder Sammy Guevara was also in the match, along with the man he holds the ROH Tag titles with, Dustin Rhodes. That duo was in their second match of the night, after winning an 8-man on the pre-show. Rhodes and Guevara, together known as Sons of Texas, worked together on occasion, and didn't work against each other, including during a bit of fun where all three babyfaces hit Dustin's Unnatural Kick/Shattered Dreams on the favorite Fletcher. But their alliance broke down after Sammy inadvertently hit a corner drop kick on his partner. Garcia tried to take advantage of that, setting off a sequence that would end when Guevara took out Fletcher with a cutter as Garcia locked his partner in a Dragontamer. But Dustin was able to reverse the hold and roll the younger man up for a win, taking his first AEW gold in his home state at 56-years-old. The Texans in attendance loved it, as did the ones who came into celebrate with Rhodes, his nephews Wayne & Wyatt Rhodes and his trios partners Ross & Marshall Von Erich. A call that will be debated online, but felt right given what it followed. Fletcher will be champ soon, but All In Texas was Dustin Rhodes time. Proud of the boys – George Ford hails England's attitude
Replacement scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet went over in the final minute with the score locked at 17-17 following Guy Pepper's brilliant blind-side break as England followed up last week's 35-12 win in La Plata in style. Ford, who made his 101st Test appearance for England, said: 'We found a way in the end. We had a lot of opportunities in the 22, but couldn't get over the line. What a series 🙌#ARGvENG — England Rugby (@EnglandRugby) July 12, 2025 'I'm proud of the boys. I like our fight, our togetherness, showing how much we care. 'There was some great stuff, we should have scored more tries but the attitude of the group is great.' Both sides scored two tries in the first half, with Argentina twice hitting back through centre Lucio Cinti and wing Ignacio Mendy after touchdowns from England pair Seb Atkinson and Freddie Steward. In a fast and furious encounter at the Bicentenary Stadium, Santiago Carreras' first-half penalty had edged Argentina into a 17-14 interval lead, with George Ford's penalty in the second period hauling England level before Van Poortvliet's thrilling late effort. Argentina captain Julian Montoya said his side paid the price for their ill-discipline. He said: 'We were not good enough, we have to be honest with ourselves. I am sorry we couldn't get the win, we gave away too many penalties.' England forward Ben Curry was sent to the sin-bin for his high tackle on Pablo Matera in the 20th minute and Argentina made their advantage count as Cinti went over for their opening try. Argentina were reduced to 14 men in the second half when number eight Matera received a yellow card just before the hour for killing the ball at a maul just yards from his try line. Two tiring teams maintained their ferocious battle – almost entirely in Argentina's half – as the game headed into the final 10 minutes. But with the clock ticking down, replacement flanker Pepper stole clear from a maul and after charging down the blind side he turned inside to send the supporting Van Poortvliet over for the decisive score.
