According to CBS Miami, Tanasia Grayer planned to board a Chicago-bound flight from Miami International Airport on Wednesday, July 16. When she arrived at the gate, she claims Spirit personnel told her she wasn't allowed to board because of her outfit.
'We were getting ready to board the plane, and the lady at the front desk, she stopped me and said, 'You're not getting on a plane like that,'' Grayer told the outlet. 'So I looked at her and I said 'Like what?' She said, 'With those shorts.''
Grayer alleges she walked through the airport without anyone telling her to change. Wearing a pink robe overtop, she says her clothes were not revealing at all.
'They said that you can't have the bottom or your butt out,' she said. 'That's why this robe is on so that I'm not too revealing.'
She added: 'I was in the airport for 40 minutes, y'all should've told me. That way I could've went and changed my clothes to put anything else on.'
In a clip of the confrontation with airport authorities shared with CBS Miami, a woman in the background can be heard shouting 'I'm confused, this is crazy, this is insane.' Grayer said that was her sister, Jessica Kordelewski, who was arrested and accused of disorderly conduct and trespassing after a warning.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, a spokesperson for Spirit said their records show 'a guest was not in compliance with our Contract of Carriage and refused to comply when provided an opportunity to do so.' The statement says their Contact of Carriage contains certain clothing standards for all passengers.
'The guest and their travel companion were eventually denied boarding after displaying disruptive behavior," the statement read.
'I'm going home,' Kordelewski told CBS Miami after she was released from jail.'We are done with Miami, we ain't never coming here again,' Grayer added.
According to the outlet, the sisters booked another flight with a different airline to get home. She explained she wouldn't wear the same outfit to avoid any troubles.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Listed examples include see-through clothing exposing breasts, buttocks or other private parts.
According to USA Today, the airline recently updated this policy in January 2025. Before, the contract did not specify clothing examples nor body art.

Authorities identify Ohio man who died in shooting after he wounded 3 police officers
LORAIN, Ohio (AP) — The shooter of three Ohio police officers in an ambush attack was identified Thursday by the Lorain County Coroner's Office as 28-year-old Michael Parker. The coroner's office said an autopsy is planned for Parker, who died as a result of the shooting in Lorain on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities say they believe Parker acted alone when he used a high-powered rifle to shoot and wound three city officers — Phillip Wagner, 35; Peter Gale, 51; and Brent Payne, 47. Parker's home was searched for more than five hours Wednesday night. A neighbor said officers broke an upstairs window and flew in a drone during the search. Neighbors said Thursday they often saw him walking the family dog to the nearby beach, but he rarely engaged in conversation, and never saw him with friends. 'He was just an odd character,' said Jody Burnsworth, who has lived next door to the family since 2012. 'He wasn't rude. He was just always quiet. When he walked he looked like he was always ultra-focused on something.' She said she always had an uneasy feeling about him, never opening her bedroom drapes on the side of the house that faced his home. 'I hate that I thought that,' she said. 'He kind of gave me the creeps. Sometimes he would just look at you in an odd way.' Burnsworth said that during the past year he was hired at the post office but soon quit because the work was too difficult. Bodies of 3 men recovered from Mississippi River after swimming, fishing on sandbar
The bodies of three men were recovered from the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee, on Wednesday after they went missing while fishing and swimming on a sandbar. The victims, who ranged in age from their 20s to their 50s, were reported missing Tuesday evening near a boat ramp at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, about 13 miles north of Memphis, authorities said. Hulk Hogan, icon in professional wrestling, dies at age 71
CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — Hulk Hogan, the mustachioed, headscarf-wearing icon in the world of professional wrestling, has died at the age of 71, Florida police and WWE said Thursday. In Clearwater, Florida, authorities responded to a call Thursday morning about a cardiac arrest. Hogan was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said in a statement on Facebook. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was perhaps the biggest star in WWE's long history. He was the main draw for the first WrestleMania in 1985 and was a fixture for years, facing everyone from Andre The Giant and Randy Savage to The Rock and even company chairman Vince McMahon. He won at least six WWE championships and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. Hogan was also a celebrity outside the wrestling world, appearing in numerous movies and television shows, including a reality show about his life on VH1, 'Hogan Knows Best.' In 2016, a Florida jury awarded Hogan $115 million in his sex tape lawsuit against Gawker Media. Hogan sued after Gawker in 2012 posted a video of him having sex with his former best friend's wife.
