Over 10,000 to take SPM repeat exam
The Education Ministry said in a statement yesterday that the examination will cover three subjects – Bahasa Melayu, History and Mathematics.
The ministry reminded all candidates to refer to the examination timetable, which can be downloaded from the Malaysian Examination Syndicate's official portal for details such as the date, time, paper code and examination paper.
'Candidates are also reminded to bring their identification documents and Examination Registration Statement to the examination centre,' it said.
The examination registration statement can be downloaded from the Online Examination Management System at sppat.moe.gov.my.
'Candidates must comply with the standard operating procedure and regulations to ensure the smooth running of the examination,' it added.

PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry is taking serious and proactive steps to prevent fire incidents at school premises following a disturbing rise in fire-related cases over the past few years. According to the Fire and Rescue Department's annual report, the number of school structure fires increased from 71 cases in 2021 to 152 cases in 2023 – more than doubling in just two years. In response, the ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of students and school staff across the country. The ministry stated that it views the matter seriously and has long-standing procedures in place to curb such incidents. 'One of the main policies enforced is the Surat Pekeliling Ikhtisas No. 7 of 2009, which outlines fire prevention guidelines for schools. 'Under this directive, schools are reminded to take proactive measures, including conducting thorough inspections of electrical wiring in school buildings,' said its minister Fadhlina Sidek. Schools with outdated or unsafe wiring, particularly those exceeding the standards set by the Public Works Department (PWD), are required to submit immediate replacement requests to their respective state education departments. The ministry has also issued a reminder letter on building safety to all educational institutions under the ministry, dated June 12. These safety measures must be implemented to prevent fires that could result in property damage and loss of life. In terms of infrastructure upgrades, the ministry, in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Branch of PWD, has carried out rewiring works at 409 schools across Peninsular Malaysia that are over 50 years old. The matter was raised during the Dewan Rakyat sitting by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Dr Wan Ismail (PH-Bandar Tun Razak), who asked the education minister to state the actions and measures taken to prevent fire incidents at school premises, citing the significant increase in cases as reported by the Fire and Rescue Department. Anak Kita programme boosts academic success for at-risk students in Penang
NIBONG TEBAL: The Anak Kita Programme (PAK) has successfully uplifted the academic performance of at-risk students in Penang, with 460 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2024 candidates from 11 schools showing marked improvement. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek confirmed the programme's effectiveness, noting that 99% of participants sat for the exams, while 93% obtained their certificates, particularly excelling in Bahasa Melayu and History. PAK, a national intervention initiative, is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Finance (MOF), and strategic partners. Fadhlina highlighted its structured approach, combining online tuition and small-group learning to provide targeted academic support. As of mid-2025, PAK has benefited 1,280 students across 64 schools in Penang. Results indicate significant progress, with 71% improving in Bahasa Melayu and 44% in History. Even in challenging subjects like Mathematics, 13% saw grade enhancements. The programme adopts a holistic strategy, offering tailored interventions, personal coaching, and psycho-social support. 'We believe this approach will have a lasting impact and plan to expand it further,' Fadhlina said. Launched in September 2024, PAK focuses on three key areas: 3M (literacy and numeracy for primary students), SPM support for secondary students, and reintegration for at-risk students. Spearheaded by Yayasan Hasanah and Khazanah Nasional, it aims to reduce dropout rates and strengthen educational outcomes. She said that the intervention programme has proven effective, with 460 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2024 candidates from 11 schools in Penang showing excellent performance, following continuous support provided over the past year. She added that 99 per cent of the students sat for the SPM, and 93 per cent successfully obtained their certificates, particularly in core subjects such as Bahasa Melayu and History, in Penang. 'PAK is a national intervention programme, which is both comprehensive and targeted, involving collaboration between the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Finance (MOF), and various strategic partners,' she told reporters, after visiting Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Taman Widuri, here, today. She added that, as of mid-2025, the implementation of PAK in Penang, covering 1,280 students across 64 schools, has shown significant positive developments.
