Moment dancing fan, 97, steals show at Bongo's Bingo in Liverpool
Mrs Gandy said: "I've always loved to have a boogie from going to dance halls when I was younger to being the first and last off the dance floor at parties."It always has a lovely atmosphere. I do usually get up and have a boogie with the lads."I even got on stage with Boyzlife when they performed at Bongo's."The great-grandmother said she felt "a bit like a celebrity" after people recognised her from previous shows."I had a few people come up to me on Saturday saying they were at the show I went to for my 90th birthday," she said.
Mrs Gandy, who only retired from her job at a nursery last year was awarded an MBE in 2007 for her work in the community."Some mums from the playschool I used to run also came and had a dance with me at the show," she said.Mrs Gandy attended on Saturday with four generations of her family, including her 20-year-old great-grandson.She was first introduced to the not-so-quiet bingo hall by her granddaughter Sarah."Everyone I tell thinks she's a legend," Sarah said."It was a really good night, loved seeing the Cheeky Girls, N-trance and Blue - but gutted we didn't win anything."
She said her grandmother "always loved bingo and getting up and having a dance so there was no surprise that she loved an event that combined the both".Mrs Gandy's daughter Donna said she was still "getting out and having fun at 97"."It was fab as usual, makes me forget I'm getting old," she said.Bongo's Bingo describes itself as an "immersive, inclusive and incredible" place where "everyone parties together" with "no barriers and no limits".The clubnight was started by Jonny Lacey and Joshua Burke in Liverpool in 2015 and has since held events across the world including in France, Holland, Ibiza, Dubai and Australia.Mr Lacey said seeing Mrs Gandy "always brings a smile" to his face. "What an inspiration at 97 years young. She always gives it her all in the rave round too and puts some of the younger players to shame," he said."I'd love to see more players like Anne joining us in the future."

The BBC has confirmed they have "no plans to work with him in the future." In a new interview, the former greengrocer is now facing further turmoil as he fears there could be another level of humiliation if his MBE is taken away from him. Speaking to The Sun, he questioned his legacy. He said: "What will my legacy be now? I don't want it to be telly, I want nothing to do with it all. I have worried about losing my MBE but there's not a lot I can do about it." He added: "But I haven't done anything illegal and hopefully now more and more people will realise that I haven't been exposing myself, and I haven't been groping people either." He continued: "So now I want to start campaigning — raising more awareness of neurodiversity in the workplace." " I think perceptions may slowly change and all I want is people to ask questions of people whose behaviour they find odd — even people that might look like a football hooligan to you.," he said. "You can't decide which groups of people or which disabilities you will support or won't support in the workplace. You either embrace it all or you don't," he added. Gregg has now claimed that the BBC should have spotted his autism and advised him to go to Occupational Health rather than "letting all these complaints build up against me." This is something the former presenter said he feels "very angry about that." Gregg was diagnosed with autism in January. The BBC has confirmed that they will air the final season of MasterChef that was recorded with Gregg and his co-host John Torode, before their sacking. John had been axed from the show after an investigation confirmed that he had used racist language before.

Ray had become the voice of the Rugby League, eventually earning him an MBE in 2011. He had succeeded broadcasting icon Edding Waring in the role, when he took on the job in 1981 - remaining on the air for almost 40 years. In recent years, the star had sadly been battling with dementia before he passed away at the age of 85. The BBC will be airing a re-run of a 2016 episode of Rugby League Heroes which features Ray. The special show will be broadcast on Radio Humberside and BBC Sounds in tribute to the star. James Whale shares he 'probably won't be here next week' as he enters hospice
James Whale has said that he has entered hospice care, as he recorded what he said would be his final podcast with his wife. The radio and TV host, 74, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, revealing in 2020 that his kidney cancer had returned and spread to his brain, spine and lungs. Whale is best known for hosting The James Whale Radio Show, as well as for his work for talkSPORT and talkRADIO over the years. The Celebrity Big Brother star has been hosting the podcast Tales Of The Whales with his wife Nadine and has now said Friday's (July 25) episode would be his last, with his voice was barely a whisper during the recording. He said: 'I'm in a hospice. I probably won't be here next week. I'm fine. I've got so many drugs in me, I can't feel a thing.' He then went on to say: 'A lot of people get really upset when someone is going to die. I'm the person who's going to die and I'm quite relaxed about it.' His wife Nadine also said that he had 'perked up' since arriving at the hospice and had changed his medications so he was 'more lucid'. She admitted she has been finding it harder to come to terms with his diagnosis, but praised how 'brilliantly' he has been coping with it. The couple said they had been crying a lot, reading messages and voice notes from listeners who praised Whale's contribution to their lives. When it came time to say goodbye to their listenership for the last time, he said to his wife: 'We've had the best time together haven't we. I love you.' More Trending He added: 'Thank you for being a listener. I hope it helps in some way. Who knows what is next so I can only say au revoir.' Earlier this year, Whale announced he had stopped receiving treatment and recently marked what he called his 'last birthday', surrounded by close friends and family. He has been a fixture of British broadcasting for over 50 years, receiving an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honours for services to broadcasting and charity.
