Mahindra Logistics' Q1 loss widens to Rs 9.44 crore
However, the Mumbai-based company's revenue from operations rose to Rs 1,624.59 crore in Q1, up 3.54 per cent from Rs 1,569.51 crore in the previous quarter, according to its stock exchange filing.
Its total income also saw a growth of 3.69 per cent on quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis, reaching Rs 1,629.66 crore compared to Rs 1,571.68 crore in Q4 FY25.
However, total expenses during the quarter grew at a faster pace -- rising by 4.12 per cent to Rs 1,635.44 crore from Rs 1,570.75 crore in the previous quarter, the company stated in its regulatory filing.
The increase in expenses was mainly due to higher operating costs and employee benefits.
Operating expenses stood at Rs 1,407.4 crore, employee costs were Rs 104.48 crore, while finance cost and depreciation amounted to Rs 22.53 crore and Rs 64.57 crore respectively. Other expenses came in at Rs 36.46 crore.

‘DDA yet to deliver on promise': Signature View Apartments' residents face double whammy of paying EMI & rent
Shweta Verma, a homemaker, moved out of her flat in Signature View Apartments, a premium housing complex in Northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, with her family in April 2023. Amid safety concerns, the lift in her tower had stopped working. 'I was very scared… it was a matter of life and death,' she recalled. The family, like 134 others in the housing complex, relied on the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to rebuild the flats, and meanwhile, pay them the rent for an alternate accommodation. More than two years have passed. Of the 135 families that moved out, 55 submitted the necessary documents to receive the rent, according to the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) but all of them have been left in lurch. The Signature View Apartments was launched by the DDA in 2007 and handed over to residents in 2012. The 12 towers in the residential complex have a total of 336 HIG (high-income group) and MIG (middle-income group) flats. Soon after moving in, however, residents claimed that they started noticing the sub-standard construction. Since then, there have been multiple incidents of debris falling inside flats and outside on cars. Following a structural audit conducted by IIT Delhi, Signature View Apartments was declared unsafe for inhabitation in November 2022. The survey recommended the demolition of all 12 buildings. Later, the Lieutenant Governor ordered that all the flats had to be vacated. In 2023, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also issued demolition orders for the housing complex. In a key meeting on July 11, DDA approved a 'facilitation amount of Rs 50,000 per month for HIG flats and Rs 38,000 per month for MIG flats towards rent for residents of Signature View Apartments during the period of reconstruction'. 'The rent will be paid unit-wise to each allottee/owner as and when the flat is vacated,' an official had said. Last week, the development body – during a hearing on July 18 in the Delhi High Court – stated that 'those who have submitted their requisite papers and have been found eligible are being paid the rent'. A bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela asked DDA to file an affidavit, giving the details of the approval. Urging release of the rent amount without delay, RWA president Amarender Rakesh argued that timely payments could come as assurance as people try to tackle uncertainty. 'Once people see that DDA is actually paying rent, it will boost confidence and motivate more families to move out,' he said. It will take the remaining 201 families around 30-45 days to move out of the complex, as per the RWA, if they decide to shift and place confidence in the DDA. Manu Dhawan, an IT engineer and father of five, echoed skepticism prevailing among residents. 'They sent offer letters one-and-a-half years ago promising rent, but no one received anything. People are paying EMIs and rent. We spent so much money renovating our places when we shifted. We are bound to face losses. Now, we're being asked to leave without financial support for even relocation,' Dhawan (44) said.

Delhi HC grants pre-arrest bail to NewsClick chief
Prabir Purkayastha New Delhi: Delhi high court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to NewsClick founder and editor-in-chief Prabir Purkayastha, who was booked on charges of receiving money to peddle pro-China propaganda through his news portal. The HC relief for Purkayastha came in two separate investigations - one by Delhi Police's economic offences wing (EOW) into claims of unlawful foreign funding, and the other by ED in the alleged money laundering case. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna's order granting anticipatory bail came on a bunch of applications filed by Purkayastha. The court also granted relief to NewsClick director Pranjal Pandey in the foreign funding case filed by EOW. In 2021, the HC had first extended interim protection from arrest to Purkayastha and Pandey in the cases. According to the FIR registered by EOW, NewsClick received foreign direct investment to the tune of Rs 9.6 crore from Worldwide Media Holdings LLC USA during the financial year 2018-19 in violation of the relevant law. Police alleged large-scale violation of regulations by the portal by way of overvaluing of shares, diversion of funds and violation of FDI laws.

Over 90% of border habitations in NE get mobile network: Centre
1 2 Guwahati: Among the 5,200 villages and habitations situated in the northeastern border regions, 4,696 now have access to mobile network, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. This accounts for mobile connectivity achieved in over 90 per cent of the remote border villages and habitations of the northeast. Replying to a question by Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, Union minister of state for communications and rural development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar told the House that all 1,237 border villages and habitations in Assam have achieved complete mobile connectivity. In Sikkim, too, all 68 border villages and habitations have come under mobile network. However, Arunachal Pradesh, characterised by its challenging topography, continues to face connectivity issues, with 337 out of 1,502 border villages and habitations still without mobile coverage. The govt allocated Rs 1,775.53 crore through various Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) schemes between FY 2020-21 and FY 2024-25 to enhance mobile network infrastructure in the remote northeastern areas. While 365 of Mizoram's 378 border villages and habitations got mobile coverage, the minister said, adding 194 of Manipur's 263 border villages and habitations got mobile coverage so far. In Nagaland, 96 out of 135, in Sikkim, all 68, and in Tripura, 333 of the 345 border villages and habitations have mobile coverage.
