And it's not just the race days they're tuning in for – 71 per cent say the high performance and precision of the sport are key reasons they consider themselves fans.

Irish singer invited to meet Palestinian Ambassador after he penned song for Gaza
Paddy Sherlock wrote 'We All Let It Happen Again And Again' in reference to a lack of concrete policies to stop the catastrophic levels of bloodshed in Gaza. Today the songwriter, who's released the track on YouTube, will meet with Palestinian ambassador Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid at her Dublin residence, where she's due to thank him for the song. Mr Sherlock, a Dubliner, has lived and performed in Paris for decades and hopes the song will 'become like a candle in the darkness for Palestinians.' Tens of thousands of lives have been lost in Gaza since 2023. And although Mr Sherlock feels the Irish Government has acted honourably in speaking against the Israeli actions in Gaza, he said there's still so much more to do. 'I was amazed to get the email from the Palestinian embassy,' Mr Sherlock said. 'The ambassador wants to thank me personally for the song. It means such a lot to me.' Mr Sherlock sang Dirty Old Town at the funeral of murdered Charlie Hebdo editor Stéphane Charbonnier in 2015. The editor was killed along with 11 others at the satirical magazine in Paris in an Islamic extremist terror attack. The singer utilised his voice during a traumatic time for Paris and he's again doing the same for Gaza. 'Watching what was happening in Gaza from the very beginning, I can't remember anything this devastating in my lifetime,' Mr Sherlock said. 'As a songwriter this is the best I can do - to write a song - to hope it goes viral and impacts enough people to make them sit up and do what they can to help make a change. 'If we all did something to help, if we all pressured our governments, emailed them, protested on the streets, took action, I believe we could make this stop.'
