Who Will Play Denis Villeneuve's James Bond? Here Are The Top Choices
It was announced on Wednesday that directing legend Denis Villeneuve would be the first James Bond director under the new Amazon reign, diving into the lore of the legendary secret agent some time after his next Dune movie. Or his third Dune movie? Or one of the other projects he's supposedly working on? The timeline is a bit unclear here.
Villeneuve is a surprising choice for the spot, albeit he has effectively never made a bad film, and any franchise would be lucky to have him. It is somewhat notable that fellow directing icon Christopher Nolan has repeatedly talked about doing a Bond movie, but it's now gone to Villeneuve here (not that Nolan isn't insanely busy).
The reveal of Villeneuve as director did not come with an announcement about who would be cast as James Bond, post-Daniel Craig, with not even a sense of if he's doing a younger or older Bond. But we have had a decade of rumors about who would be taking up the role, and I thought I'd go through the choices that came up most often. I do not believe they'll be doing the once-pitched concept of a woman James Bond, so I'm not listing potential actresses for that idea here. Rather, the guys are:
Idris Elba - It feels like the suave, storied actor has been the top theoretical choice since I was in high school, though even he says the moment may have passed, as the actor is 52 now and this would just be the beginning of his Bond career. But I'm not sure I buy that, as Daniel Craig is now 57 and no one was complaining about that.

Henry Cavill - You are not going to find anyone else on this list that looks more like the quintessential Bond, interesting because Cavill also looked like the quintessential Superman. Cavill is wrapped up in some big projects however, like a giant Warhammer concept with Amazon he's passionate about. But he's expressed interest in the role.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson - He's had back-to-back hits in the form of Nosferatu and now 28 Years Later (we'll ignore Kraven for the moment). He's recently been brought up as a possible choice for the part. I could see it.

Theo James - Honestly, this is my pick. The Gentleman and White Lotus actor is young and a rising star and I absolutely think he's got the right kind of look and charisma to reinvent the role yet again.

Taron Egerton - He's been rumored for Wolverine and now rumored for James Bond after his breakout role in The Kingsman, but more recently starring in one of the most popular Netflix movies in history, Carry-On. Maybe him?

Richard Madden - The ex-Game of Thrones star is another younger choice who looks the part, but his last turn in a big spy role in Amazon's Citadel did not go great. I don't think he's the one.

Robert Pattinson - He's rumored for a role in a Villeneuve Dune role, but some are wondering if the actor who notoriously chooses widely diverse roles might be a good choice here. But I'm not even sure he'd want it?

Aaron Pierre - He's easily the most recent, prominent rumor about who's being considered for Bond. You just have to watch Rebel Ridge on Netflix to know he's got the charisma (and he is actualy English). He's currently the DCU's Green Lantern as well, landing that part a month after Rebel Ridge. This would be the ultimate rising star moment for him.

Are there more? Sure, but these are the biggest names that have been considered over the years. Will Villeneuve go for any of them, or surprise us with an outside-the-box pick?

Sculpture inspired by Jane Goodall Barbie doll to be unveiled to public
A sculpture inspired by Mattel's Barbie doll of Dame Jane Goodall and made entirely from recycled ocean plastic will be unveiled to the public in central London. The work by Slovakian-Bulgarian artist Daniela Raytchev called All Of Me will be displayed on board the tall ship Oosterschelde moored at Tower Bridge Quay on Monday. The event is part of a series of celebrations marking the return to the UK of the Darwin200 Global Voyage – a two-year international conservation expedition inspired by Charles Darwin's journey aboard HMS Beagle in the 1830s. The sculpture, made entirely from recycled ocean plastic collected by the expedition along the coastlines of Brazil and Uruguay, is based on Mattel's Barbie doll of Dame Jane, released in 2022 as part of its Inspiring Women Doll collection. Dame Jane is a renowned primatologist and widely considered the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees. She said: 'Daniela's sculpture puts the spotlight on the plastic crisis and highlights the importance of working together towards a better future for all.' Ms Raytchev said: 'I created this piece to show how working in harmony with nature can turn waste into a message of hope.' The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Dutch three-masted schooner on Friday – a day after its return to London – to recognise Darwin200's role in promoting environmental conservation around the world, and viewed the sculpture. Proceeds from the sale of the artwork will raise money for Darwin200 and Dame Jane's Roots & Shoots UK project, an environmental and humanitarian education programme for young people. Every year, more than 11 million tonnes of plastic enter the world's oceans – equivalent to one rubbish truck every minute, a spokesperson for the Darwin200 project said. The toy industry is 90% plastic-based and uses approximately 40 tonnes of plastic for every one million US dollars (£745,000) of revenue. In 2023, the global toy market reached 108.7 billion US dollars (£81 billion) in sales. According to the United Nations, if current trends continue there could be more plastic than fish by weight in the ocean by 2050. Members of the public will be invited aboard the historic tall ship between 10am and 1pm and between 2pm and 5.30pm on Monday. A panel discussing topics of creativity, scientific innovation, and environmental action will also take place at 3pm, with panellists including geologist and founder of Darwin200 Stewart McPherson, American actress and activist Rose McGowan, and Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia.

Matthew Lawrence Proposed Using AI To Bring Back Robin Williams
AI is used for lots of purposes these days — and if he could, Matthew Lawrence would "love" to use it to resurrect his Mrs. Doubtfire co-star Robin Williams. Related: Matthew made the revelation in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said he thinks Robin's "voice is just so iconic" and that using AI could provide a way to "do something really special" with it. He said, "I would love — now, obviously, with the respect and with the okay from his family — but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic." He insisted he's not the only one who thinks so, either. "It's in everybody's head," he shared. "And it would be so cool." Related: Apparently, Matthew got the idea from one of Robin's old commercials before the actor's 2014 death, which saw him speaking in a "computerized voiceover." "And it always stuck with me," Matthew shared. "And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I'm like, 'Man, he's gotta be the voice of A.I. He's gotta be the voice in something.' So yeah, I would love to do that." Related: "Fuck no," one reader tweeted in response. "This feels incredibly disrespectful." "I doubt his family wants that," another said. "And no AI can replicate Robin Williams." "Absolutely not," someone else agreed. Related: Other people pointed out that it couldn't happen anyway — at least not for a while, as Robin reportedly has a trust that strictly prohibits using his voice or likeness for 25 years. "That doesn't honor him," a fourth person wrote. "that disrespects him and his memory especially when he was against that." Another person took a difference stance, saying that they would be "okay with this if Robin's family is." I love Robin Williams, too, but I personally think we should leave people alone, especially if that's what they wanted! Tell me what you think in the comments.
