Nectar Triantis triggers Sunderland wage rise as hopes over Hibs return fade amid big time transfer options
Triantis also has a number of big options in the English Championship and in Major League Soccer It is looking increasingly unlikely that Nectarios Triantis will be returning to Hibs. The Easter Road side has held talks with Sunderland over a permanent club record deal. The midfielder was a standout on loan at Easter Road last season. David Gray and his board have pushed the boat out to try and land the 22-year-old on a permanent basis. They have been forced to wait as Triantis has gone back into the Sunderland fold for their pre-season trip. The Australian has also triggered a significant wage increase as a result of the Black Cats promotion back to the Premiership. Hibs would struggle to get near those wages. Triantis also has a number of big options in the English Championship and in Major League Soccer that Hibs wouldn't be able to compete with financially. The player also has to make a decision over his international future with Australia and Greece both options. That will be a big factor in his decision as he will want to go and play at the highest club level to enhance his international ambitions. Hibs best chance would be to get Triantis back on loan, but that would only potentially happen at the end of the window and would be a long shot if his other options weren't to materialise. Gray said before their draw in Midtjylland that he hadn't given up on getting Triantis back. The Hibs head coach, speaking to the BBC, said: "He was brilliant to work with. 'He's earned the right to go back to his parent club for pre-season there. They're on a different schedule from us, as they started later, so there's always going to be time within these situations to see exactly what the lie of the land is." Tour de France 2025: stage 20 from Nantua to Pontarlier
Update: Date: 2025-07-26T09:30:48.000Z Title: Here's the offical map of today's lumpy, bumpy stage. Content: Update: Date: 2025-07-26T09:30:48.000Z Title: Friday saw the last of the mountains, and a second win for Ineos's Arensman. Content: Bad news for this year's plucky Brit. it was a disappointing stage for Scotland's Oscar Onley, who after surviving almost everything that the Tour could throw at him, fell away from the podium positions in the closing moments, after third-placed Florian Lipowitz attacked to move clear with Pogacar and second-placed Vingegaard. Onley has given so much, ridden so well but he looked done in after Thursday's stage; his post-ride interview was not much fun to watch. Full credit for him hanging on so long in the high mountains. So much more to come from him. The difficulty of staying with Pogacar and Arensman is shown by the state of Arensman when he crossed the line on Friday. Update: Date: 2025-07-26T09:30:48.000Z Title: William Fotheringham previewed this stage thus: Content: The puncheurs and breakaway specialists will have been waiting for five days with this one on their minds. The battle for the early break will be intense and the fight for the stage could be epic. As well as our old friends Cort and Healy, this will appeal to about half the peloton, wily one-day specialists such as the Dane Mattias Skjelmose. NB: Mattias Skjelmose abandoned after a crash last weekend. Ben Healy, over to you? Update: Date: 2025-07-26T09:30:48.000Z Title: Preamble Content: After the mountains, a stage of Classic length and dimensions. It's been a true test, this year, thin gruel for sprinters and this looks a day for the puncheurs. Who's the best of them? With Van der Poel gone, Evenepoel gone, there's perhaps a day for an old dog like Julian Alaphilippe, should he keep his radio. Or, perhaps the best of all, as he is at everything bar the sprinting – and a dig in Paris on Sunday can't be ruled out – is Tadej Pogacar, all but assured of his fourth maillot jaune to keep. We're already talking about the Vuelta, in truth and a fifth tour. The neutralised start is 11.05 UK time. One last dig before Paris.

Scottie Scheffler breaks silence on Open ‘fart-gate' & reveals who was responsible for leaving commentators in stitches
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER has broken his silence on 'fart-gate' that left the Open commentators in stitches. The American golfer was taking a shot at the green on the 17th hole when a fart noise was heard over the broadcast. 2 2 The noise caught the attention of Andrew Cotter on the broadcast microphone. He and his co-commentator burst into a fit of laughter as the moment also went viral on social media. Scheffler, 29, has now revealed who was responsible for the comedic flatulence. It was none other than... HIMSELF. The world no.1 made the shocking revelation while making an appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast. He was asked by host Eric "PFT Commenter" Sollenberger if it was he who indeed farted. Scheffler said: "Yeah that was me. "You are out there for six hours, eating some different food over there, some stuff is going to happen. "You never know where the boom mic is and what it is going to pick up. "I'm actually surprised it has not happened more in the past. "I did not think anything about it and afterwards I was shown the video I could see me standing on the 17th and I was like 'I know what this is'. "It was good, had a good sound to it, we were outside, perfect." Scheffler followed up the first-tainted shot by rolling in the putt for birdie. He finished his day one round three under before going on to win the whole tournament. His closest challenger was Harris English, who shot 66 to finish on -13.
