Bhubaneswar: For three hours on a Sunday morning, the stretch from City Women's College to Jagamara Road in the capital city turned into a lively arena of fun, fitness and community spirit, offering a refreshing break to residents from the daily hustle and bustle.
'Happy Streets', organised by TOI, started with a musical note as beautiful notes attracted many morning walkers and residents of nearby localities.
The singers performed a wide range of songs from Bollywood to folk and fusion. The usually busy thoroughfare was transformed into a vehicle-free zone, allowing participants to engage in various activities without the interference of traffic.
Residents expressed their appreciation for the initiative.
"It's refreshing to see our street coming alive with such positive energy. Events like this help in bringing the community together and promote a healthier lifestyle," said Sarat Sahu, a retired banker and resident of Soubhagya Nagar.
The event was powered by SoA University and co-powered by SAI International School and SAI International Residential School. Sarthak Films was the radio partner.
Locals also got a chance to get a free health check-up during the event at a makeshift kiosk put up by SUM Ultimate Hospital.
"It is a great initiative where so many activities are being organised in one place. I avoided routine health check-ups for some reason or another. Thanks to Happy Streets, I could get my vitals checked for free," said Manoranjan Das, a senior citizen.
Sports enthusiasts had their moment too, with street cricket, basketball and archery platforms provided by Decathlon, the sports partner of the event. The title sponsor was the Odia language, literature and culture department. Participants won attractive prizes and gift vouchers by taking part in the activities.

Metro In Dino Box Office Collection Day 3: Anurag Basu movie earnings soar 18%, inches closer to ₹20 crore mark
Metro In Dino Box Office Collection Day 3: Anurag Basu's romantic drama found it difficult to cross ₹ 10 crore mark at the domestic box office despite registering an 18 percent uptick in collection on Sunday, July 6. The filmmaker, who marked his return to the film industry after a hiatus of eight years, is finding it hard to impress the audience with the heartfelt narrative of four couples in a contemporary setting. Notably, this relationship drama has crossed the entire lifetime earnings of its prequel — 'Life In A Metro,' which collected ₹ 15.63 crore at the box office, Koimoi reported. Released on May 11, 2007, it missed the hit mark by a very small margin but proved to be a successful film. According to film industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie did a business of ₹ 7.08 crore net in India on its first Sunday, July 10. Wrapping up the weekend with a total collection of ₹ 16.58 crore net, the Bollywood movie witnessed 39.75 percent Hindi occupancy on Sunday. On Saturday, the film saw 71.43 percent increase in earnings and raked in ₹ 6 crore net. On its opening day, July 4, the movie collected ₹ 3.5 crore net. Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel in a post on X stated, '#MetroInDino continues its struggle on Day 2 - adding just ₹ 2.30 Cr over a dismal Friday ( ₹ 3.20 Cr nett) to collect a flat ₹ 5.50 Cr. A ₹ 10 Cr Saturday was the bare minimum for a respectable weekend total, but the film falls way short yet again.' At the worldwide box office, the Sara Ali Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer collected ₹ 12.40 crore gross in 2 days, Sacnilk reported. A total of ₹ 1 crore gross came from overseas earnings. Produced by T-Series and Anurag Kashyap Films, the movie features an ensemble cast. Besides Sara Ali Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma, it features Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Saswata Chatterjee in key roles.

On the compassions with Katrina Kaif 'Life after Veer was very bad for me, I got a lot of criticism. The film was a life-changing moment for me. About 'Sitaare Zameen Par' 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is yet another masterpiece given by Mr. Perfectionist. The story sees a brash basketball coach who faces suspension for hiting the head coach. Not just this, he has other legal woes as well, and as an alternative to jail time, he is asked to serve community service. This service entailed the task of coaching a team of neurodivergent athletes, and from there, the real magic began. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film sees Genelia D'Souza alongside Aamir Khan. Further, there are 10 new faces that made their debut in the movie: Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Samvit Desai, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. 'Sitaare Zameen Par' review With a rating of 3 stars, an excerpt from the TOI review reads - 'Despite a sensitive and layered subject, R S Prasanna's directorial venture, written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, remains a wholesome, feel-good watch. It strikes a commendable balance between delivering a message and educating viewers about ID, all with a lighthearted touch. At its core is a message of inclusivity—conveying that people with ID are employable, independent, full of life, and deeply empathetic. The film sensitively portrays the characteristic traits of the players' conditions without reducing them to labels—Bantu's (Vedant Sharma) stimming through ear-scratching, Guddu's (GopiKrishnan K Verma) aquaphobia, Sharmaji's (Rishi Shahani) speech impairment, and the less-recognised invisible autism in high-functioning Hargovind (Naman Misra). These are presented as facets of their personalities, not just symptoms.'
