Turkey earthquake: Moment 5.8-magnitude quake rocks popular Rhodes hotel
Footage shows the quake shaking CCTV cameras at the five-star Rodos Palladium hotel on Rhodes Island, in the early hours of 3 June.
The quake struck about 29km north of Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands near the Turkey border, at around 2.17am (local time) on Tuesday at a depth of 68km, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre
At least one person has died in Turkey, while dozens of people sustained injuries as panicked locals tried to jump off their buildings, according to local reports.

When asked if she'd ever consider going under the knife again (Charlotte has had breast and nose surgery before) for a mummy makeover, she recoils in horror. 'I would never, ever go to Turkey for any form of surgery,' she says, defiantly. 'I'm not against surgery at all, if you want to change something about yourself, go for it. But please, don't go to Turkey to do it. "I can understand why people want to jump ship because it is so expensive in England but don't opt for a cheaper price, not when it comes to your body. "Pay more. Get the better service. Do your research and stay in England. It'll cost more but you'll be happier with the results.' When it comes to setting an example for her daughters, who she shares with fiance Jake Ankers, Charlotte's not necessarily concerned about them being influenced into getting surgery. 'I'm not worried Alba is going to see someone getting a boob job, and think, I want a boob job when she's ten,' she says, but she is concerned about the amount of screentime they have. It's why she's championing the kids Summer Reading Challenge, an incentive to get more children reading books over the summer holidays. 'Reading with Alba is so magical,' Charlotte, who has just written her first fiction novel, gushes. 'I want her exposed to as many books as possible. There's too much emphasis on screen these days. "You know one teacher told me how some children when they start school get given a book and they immediately try to swipe the cover. "They don't even know how to turn pages, all they know is how to use an ipad. It's really quite scary.' Aussie punk rocker almost goes BLIND after contracting meningitis on the first day of his holiday in Greece
A veteran punk rocker almost went blind after he was struck down with a life-threatening illness on the first day of a long-awaited holiday in Greece. Sydney guitarist and singer Dan Batchelor narrowly escaped going blind after he became 'extremely unwell' after contracting meningitis. Meningitis inflames the protective membranes of the brain and spinal cord and can be caused by a viral, bacterial, fungal, or parasitic infection. Mr Batchelor, who co-founded punk band the Dunhill Blues, contracted the infection just months after he beat cancer and a related auto-immune disease. After making a full recovery, the muso returned to work and started saving up for a trip to Greece to celebrate his wife's birthday in June. But just hours after arriving, Mr Batchelor came down with a severe case of meningitis and had to be rushed to an emergency department in Athens. He flew home to Australia, where he received treatment and returned to work. But weeks later, his vision began to blur and he was rushed to hospital again. Doctors later told Mr Batchelor's wife, Vesna Sulic, that he would have lost his sight completely if they arrived just hours later than they did. One of his eyes suffered permanent damage, as doctors work to prevent total vision impairment as a result of the rare meningitis complication. Ms Sulic said it was 'freaky as hell' watching her husband's eyeballs be injected. 'He is still getting injections every second day,' she wrote on a GoFundMe. 'He is very brave and still has his sense of humour throughout the procedure. 'He is hopeful they can stop the spread of the infection. He is very thankful for all your love and support.' Friends and family have called on the rock and roll community for help. They said Mr Batchelor has exhausted his leave at work and has burnt through his savings paying for medical bills, rent, and other living expenses. 'While this gives Dan time to work on his new blues guitarist name, and rest and recover, of course, the reality is this the latest medical episode has emptied Dan and Ves's emergency fund,' friends wrote on the fundraiser. 'If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting Dan and Ves, or seeing Dan play, or listening to his music: dig deep. 'If "deep" means $5 of your hard-earned coin, we would honestly be so grateful.' Their fundraising efforts have raised $7,556 at the time of writing. The Dunhill Blues have been affectionately described as a 'B-grade garage-punk band'. They have released multiple albums since their debut in the early 2000s.

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the country's far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday (July 30), causing flooding in the coastal town of Severo-Kurilsk. The powerful tremors also raised tsunami alarms in regions such as New Zealand, Chile, Japan, Hawaii, and the US west coast, prompting evacuation orders for millions of people. A video released by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Research on Thursday captures tsunami waves surging through the Pacific Ocean as a result of the seismic activity. Several people were injured in the earthquake. However, no major damage was reported.
