"First and foremost, you have to think Daryl Morey is doing all he can to get a team baited into a trade to take Ace Bailey out of Rutgers at No. 3. Philadelphia is ready to win now with money locked up with Paul George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. That said, Edgecombe is a tough guard who averaged 15 PPG, six RPG and three APG in the Big 12 and was a capable defender. Yes, he's a bit undersized, but he plays the game the right way and would help Philadelphia now."

Nets' Egor Demin did what was asked during Las Vegas Summer League
Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin had plenty of people watching how he would handle his first taste of NBA action in the Las Vegas Summer League that happened last month. After being selected by Brooklyn with the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Demin showed in Las Vegas that he could have a future as an off-ball contributor, something that the coaching staff liked to see from him. "Yeah, his role here (Summer League) was WAY different than what we're going to ask him to do in the regular season," a Nets coach said of Demin's role in the summer league, according to Spotrac's Keith Smith. Demin, who came into the Draft as the best passer in the class, did not spend nearly as much time with the ball in his hands as he did during his one season at BYU, but that was by design. "But that's what this is for, right? We tasked him to shoot it from deep and to shoot it a lot. He did exactly as he was asked," the Nets coach continued. "We know about the playmaking. This was a chance to see if he could get his shot off against NBA-level defenders. He did and those shots went in a lot too. We couldn't be happier with his work here (Summer League). Demin, 19, finished the 2024-25 college basketball season with a 24.9% usage rate as he was clearly the point guard for the Cougars and was making all of the decisions for the team. After playing three games for the Nets in the summer league, Demin finished with a 19.4% usage rate as he had to share the ball-handling responsibilities with players like fellow rookies Nolan Traore and Ben Saraf, among others. As the Nets coach alluded to, Demin played more of an off-ball role than he has at any point over the past few seasons and the results were encouraging for what his future could be in the NBA. Demin not only shot 43.5% from three-point land, but he shot that well 7.7 three-point attempts per game, showing that the concern over his jumpshot may have been a bit overblown based on the early results.

Lakers are monitoring the situation with former All-Star center
It is presumed that the Los Angeles Lakers are done making roster moves this offseason. However, there is always the chance that they make a move or two once the season gets started. With the NBA's new ultra-restrictive salary cap now in full effect and teams across the league feeling its effects, there have been perfectly viable players getting their contracts bought out. The Lakers have capitalized on this trend by signing 26-year-old potential-laden center Deandre Ayton and 2022 Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart. Ideally, they would find a better backup behind Ayton than Jaxson Hayes. There is reportedly a chance that Nikola Vučević, a veteran center who has made the All-Star team twice, will get his contract bought out by the Chicago Bulls. According to Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, the Lakers are "closely monitoring that situation." "This does leave a few interesting free agents still, not even including eventual buyout candidates like Chicago's Nikola Vučević," Irwin wrote. "As they did with Smart, the Lakers are closely monitoring that situation." Vucevic will turn 35 years of age in late October and is noticeably unathletic, not to mention a weak defender. But he has shown some ability to hit the 3-point shot over the years, although his 3-point efficiency has fluctuated from year to year, and he's a capable rebounder. This past season, he averaged 18.5 points, 10.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks a game while shooting 53% from the field and 40.2% from 3-point range. The previous season, he made 29.4% of his 3-point attempts. As of now, the Lakers have just over $1 million of space under the first apron of the salary cap, which isn't enough to sign him to the veteran's minimum contract.

He averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds in 70 games played in the regular season last year. Seeing that LeBron James' legal team has been active recently, Teague may have anticipated some legal action against himself, too, for making such a statement about James without concrete proof. They never played on the same team, and Teague's podcast has recently gained a massive following, which could have prompted the Lakers' superstar to take legal action against him for slandering him in front of a massive audience. Therefore, it seems that Teague took the safe way out and claimed he was joking. Sources have previously also claimed that it is an unsaid and secret belief among players in the league that James uses PEDs. The lack of any concrete proof, instead of loads of circumstantial evidence like the time taken in his return from injury or performance at this age, is probably the reason why players have not made public statements to this effect. Now, Teague did that and immediately played it off as a joke.
