New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone completely lost his cool with a podcast host in a heated moment after their defeat against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. Following his team's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays, Boone made an appearance on Jomboy's 'Talkin' Yanks' podcast Tuesday to discuss the current issues surrounding his team. And the 52-year-old wasn't best pleased with some of the questions he had to face. He initially went on a rant about the way his team are treated by both the media and Yankees fans, insisting his priority is for them to resist 'flying off the handle' and becoming emotional. 'Understand the pestering, bantering, leading questions that are being asked of our guys,' said Boone. 'And I don't want them to just fly off the handle and be emotional. 'We've been pretty good over the years of compartmentalizing and dealing with the everyday grind of the regular season and playing in New York, and you start getting emotional and going down that road, it's a bad trait.' 'Okay! Everyone's different, stop with the reaction of how a guy answers a frickin' question. Seriously,' he fumed. A few moments later, Boone then took issue with Jomboy for suggesting that the messaging from the Yankees was business as usual despite their run of four defeats in six games at the time. After accusing him of 'cherry-picking' the answers he gives in the press, the Yankees boss also said: 'Sorry, we're not, they're not robots.' And when Jomboy replied that he wants players not to be robotic, Boone flipped out on him once again while moving closer to the camera. 'I don't care what you want' he yelled. 'These are answers of pestering, everyday questions. I want our guys in a good like, boom. We are locked in, when it's s***ty and when it's really good, and all in between. I want us locked. I want us showing up every day ready to prepare and ready to go. Period. It's a hard game.' Fortunately for Boone and the Yankees, they responded with a 5-4 victory over American League East rivals the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

Brewers swat 17 hits to sink Mariners, start new streak
July 23 - Quinn Priester pitched seven solid innings and the Milwaukee Brewers amassed 17 hits to defeat the host Seattle Mariners 10-2 Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series. Leadoff hitter Brice Turang went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for the Brewers, who bounced back after managing just two hits in a 1-0 loss Tuesday that snapped their 11-game winning streak. Priester (9-2) allowed two runs on six hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out six. The Brewers broke a 2-2 tie with three unearned runs in the fourth. Isaac Collins reached on a fielding error by Seattle shortstop J.P. Crawford and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Anthony Seigler was hit by a pitch and Joey Ortiz grounded a run-scoring single to right, with runners ending up at second and third on the throw home that was just tardy. Seigler scored on Turang's infield single and William Contreras grounded a single off a diving Crawford's glove to make it 5-2. Milwaukee added another run in the fifth as Jackson Chourio, Collins and Tyler Black led off with consecutive singles. Mariners starter Luis Castillo (7-6) went five innings and allowed six runs (three earned) on 10 hits. The right-hander, who had won his previous three starts, didn't walk a batter and fanned seven. The Brewers added a run in the sixth off reliever Trent Thornton on one-out singles by Turang and Contreras and a two-out hit by Chourio. In the seventh, Milwaukee scored three more runs with a two-out rally. Seigler and Ortiz singled before Turang hit a two-run double to right. Contreras grounded another single off Crawford's glove to extend the lead to 10-2. The Brewers took a 2-0 edge when they opened the second with three hits. Collins grounded a single to center, Black doubled to right and Blake Perkins drove in both with a double into the left-center gap. The Mariners tied it in the bottom of the inning. Jorge Polanco led off with a double to right and, two outs later, Dominic Canzone did the same to cut the deficit in half. Cardinals rookie DE Walter Nolen III (calf) to miss start of camp
July 23 - Arizona Cardinals first-round pick Walter Nolen III is sidelined with a calf injury and there is no timeline for his return. The 21-year-old defensive lineman, selected 16th overall in the 2025 draft, was injured in offseason workouts, coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Wednesday. Gannon didn't rule out that the injury could stretch into the regular season. "I don't know that," Gannon told reporters. "I really don't. We'll see how it goes. Each one's a little bit different. Each injury's a little bit different. Each guy's a little bit different." Defensive tackle Bilal Nichols (neck) and outside linebacker BJ Ojulari (knee) will also be sidelined when Arizona opens training camp on Thursday. Nichols was limited to six games (five starts) due to stinger issues last season. Ojulari missed the entire season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during 2024 training camp. "They want to be out there with their teammates and practice," Gannon said. "We need all three. But when they're healthy, they'll play." Nolen was a consensus All-American last season while racking up 14 tackles for loss (including 6.5 sacks) for Ole Miss. He spent his previous two college seasons at Texas A&M. Nichols, 28, has 248 tackles and 14 sacks in 100 games (88 starts) over eight seasons with the Chicago Bears (2018-21), Las Vegas Raiders (2022-23) and Cardinals.
