NDP 2025: 25 bus services to be diverted, skip some stops on Aug 2 due to preview show
The affected services will be diverted in phases to travel on alternative routes and skip some stops along Nicoll Highway, Marina Bay and the Civic District, said transport operator SBS Transit in a statement on July 31.
The list of affected bus routes are: 10, 14, 16/16M, 32, 51, 56, 57, 63, 70/70M, 80, 100, 107/107M, 111, 124, 130, 131, 133, 145, 166, 174, 195, 196, 197, 851 & 851e.
Affected bus stops include those at some exits of Bayfront, Downtown, Marina Bay, Nicoll Highway, City Hall, Promenade and Raffles Place MRT stations.
Stops at other prominent destinations, including Suntec Convention Centre, Capitol Building, The Esplanade, The Float @ Marina Bay, Fullerton Square and Shaw Towers, will also be affected.
Some bus stops will be skipped from 8am to 11.59pm, while others may be bypassed intermittently throughout the day or for its entirety.
Bus service 195 will skip the stop at Supreme Court from midnight Aug 2 to 7am on Aug 3.

Ga. State to demolish nearly 100-year-old building in MLK Historic District
More than two months after a tense public hearing on a proposal to demolish a nearly 100-year-old building for its campus expansion project, Georgia State University will move ahead with tearing down the building. Why it matters: The old substation at 148 Edgewood Ave. is within the local Martin Luther King Jr. Historic District, and preservationists say demolishing such structures will make it harder to tell Atlanta's history through those spaces. The latest: The university confirmed to Axios that "after careful evaluation and public input," it will tear down the "long-vacant" building to construct what it calls a Fraternity and Sorority Life Plaza. The plaza will serve as greenspace for students who reside in its Greek life housing development. A mural will also be installed to honor the history of the building and celebrate Greek groups on campus, GSU said. What they're saying: GSU added it will salvage the brickwork from 148 Edgewood and incorporate it into the new space "as a tribute to its legacy." It also said the $12 million estimate to renovate 148 Edgewood for reuse "outweighs its limited ability to benefit students and faculty." The other side: David Y. Mitchell, executive director of the Atlanta Preservation Center and an opponent of GSU's plan, said in a statement to Axios that his organization hoped GSU would have given the building "the respect it has both earned and been recognized with." "Destroying this building will remove yet one more of the structures that somehow survived and visually represents how we became Atlanta." Catch up quick: Residents and historic preservationists began raising concerns about GSU's plans last year and created a petition to raise awareness. A contentious public hearing and open house was held May 28 where GSU officials and Greek life students debated with residents and other stakeholders whether to reuse or demolish 148 Edgewood. Zoom out: Demolishing the old substation, as well as Sparks Hall at 33 Gilmer St., is part of GSU's larger, long-range plan to create a " true college town downtown." A Panther Quad, which will rise in place of Sparks Hall, will feature additional greenspace that will connect to the campus' existing greenway. Gilmer Street will be transformed into a car-free zone to improve connectivity with Hurt Park, GSU officials previously told Axios. Flashback: The 148 Edgewood building was constructed as a substation in 1926 by the company now known as Georgia Power to supply electricity to Downtown, Kyle Kessler, a resident who opposes the demolition, told Axios last year.

NTSB probes collision avoidance technology, safety systems in final day of midair collision investigative hearings
The National Transportation Safety Board questioned witnesses Friday on collision avoidance technology and organizational systems to manage risk. It is the third and final day of investigative hearings probing January's midair collision between a US Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines regional jet, operated by PSA airlines. It was the first major midair collision in the United States in decades, killing 67 people over the Potomac River, near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The first two days of testimony highlighted critical moments leading up to the collision as investigators probed witnesses about standard safety practices that should have occurred, altimeters that displayed incorrect altitude, and the helicopter route that came perilously close to the path planes use landing at the airport. There were over ten hours of testimony on each of the first two days of the hearing. Friday could go even longer to make sure everyone has an opportunity to ask questions, NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy said. The NTSB asks questions, but parties to the investigation including the Army, PSA Airlines, air traffic controller's union and Federal Aviation Administration can also examine witnesses. On Thursday, an FAA witness acknowledged the air traffic control tower failed to warn the pilots flying the American Airlines regional jet, operated by PSA Airlines. 'No safety alerts,' were given, Nick Fuller, the FAA's acting deputy chief operating officer of operations, testified. 'Should the local controller have let the PSA crew know that there was a helicopter there?' Homendy asked. 'Yes,' Fuller acknowledged. The tower did warn the pilots of the Black Hawk helicopter about the approaching regional jet and they said they would avoid it, transcripts of the cockpit voice recorders and air traffic control audio released revealed. Yet, moments later, the aircraft collided. Multiple air traffic controllers and pilots at Reagan National Airport told the NTSB they struggled with the constant stream of planes, leading to a 'make it work' attitude among them. 'This is 'we just make it work,' because we don't have another choice,' NTSB investigator Brian Soper said they told him in on-site interviews. 'There are airplanes coming in and everything was related to the capacity, the demand or the amount of traffic.' Another witness, Rich Dressler of Metro Aviation, which operates medical helicopters in Washington said the way the Army flies helicopters around the city makes him uneasy. 'Is there any unit that when you hear it makes you feel uncomfortable?' Soper asked. 'Sadly, yes,' Dressler responded. 'I don't like saying that 12th aviation battalion gives us all pause in the community. And I'm speaking from my group there; we are all very uncomfortable when those two units are operating.' An NTSB determination of the collision's probable cause is expected in January.
