A Kuala Lumpur police anti-vice team arrested a married couple at a Shah Alam hotel for allegedly running a prostitution ring and selling pornographic videos online, earning up to RM6,400 a week. — Reuters file pic Kuala Lumpur: A married couple was arrested at a hotel in Shah Alam on Tuesday for alleged involvement in prostitution and the distribution of pornographic videos via social media. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the couple, aged 34, was detained at 8 pm by a team from the D7 (Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies) division of the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters. Preliminary investigations revealed that the husband acted as the content creator, promoting and selling pornographic videos featuring his wife and their clients, while also managing a prostitution ring to generate income. 'His wife acted as the prostitute, playing the lead role in the videos. They earned up to RM6,400 a week,' he said. 'They targeted clients via the X platform to sell their pornographic videos, while prostitution activities were coordinated through Telegram,' he said in a statement yesterday. Rusdi added that their fees ranged from RM450 to RM800 at a four-star hotel, while pornographic videos were priced at RM50 and RM150. 'The couple has been remanded for three days until July 4. MPAJ to hold disciplinary committee meeting over bribery case involving department head
PETALING JAYA: Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) will initiate a Disciplinary Committee Meeting following the case of a department head charged with accepting RM30,000 in bribes. MPAJ deputy president Hasrolnizam Shaari said it would first need to obtain the official report from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Judge Meor Sulaiman allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM10,000 with one surety and imposed a condition for the accused to report to the Selangor MACC office on the first Saturday of every month. He also ordered the accused to immediately surrender his international passport to the court for safekeeping until the case is concluded. The court set Aug 19 for case mention and document submission.

Federal court grants RM50k bail to businessmen in organised crime case
PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court has approved bail of RM50,000 each for two businessmen facing charges of involvement in an organised crime group, pending their trial. A three-member panel, led by Federal Court judge Tan Sri Nallini Pathmanathan, delivered the decision in a 2-1 majority ruling. The court imposed strict conditions, requiring the accused to wear electronic monitoring devices and remain within their home compounds. They must also seek police permission before leaving their residences and report to the nearest police station biweekly. Exceptions were made for hospital visits related to their medical conditions. Justice Nallini noted that the bail approval was primarily due to the defendants' health issues and the prison system's inability to provide adequate medical care. S. Hemanathan, 31, uses a wheelchair and suffers from diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol, while N. Nithiyan, 39, has ischemic heart disease and other cardiovascular risks. Defence counsel Datuk Rajpal Singh argued that inconsistent prison treatment could worsen their conditions, potentially leading to life-threatening complications. Deputy head of Russian Navy killed by Ukraine in Kursk, official says
MOSCOW (Reuters) -Major General Mikhail Gudkov, the deputy head of the Russian Navy who also led a brigade fighting against Ukraine, has been killed in Russia's Kursk region, Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of a far eastern Russian region, said on Thursday.
