
GMRL moves to acquire plots in sectors 4, 9 for Metro line
GMRL officials said that the committee which was formed to acquire private land for the project has held multiple meetings with the property owners, and obtained their consent for acquisition of the three properties. The metro corporation has now sought details of the average sale price of similar properties to assess the compensation for these three.
One of the houses is located in Sector 9 while the two others are in Sector 4.
In the first house, the area impacted by alignment is 83 square metre (sqm) while the second house is affecting 91sqm and the third house is impacting 426sqm of the metro route, as per a communique sent by GMRL to Gurugram's land acquisition officer.
'This committee, under the chairmanship of SDM, held meetings with the affected parties and consent to give their land for the Metro Project from the owners of 3 affected houses has been obtained. The land acquisition will be done as per RFCTLARR Act 2013 and the compensation will also be finalised under the same act,' a letter issued by GMRL on July 24 mentioned.
To be sure, the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (RFCTLARR Act, 2013) is a law that regulates land acquisition and provides compensation, rehabilitation, and resettlement for those affected by land acquisition.
A senior GMRL official said, 'The metro corporation is fast tracking the acquisition of private land and strenuous efforts are being made in this regard. We are also working to ensure that the RRTS station at Cyber City, which will be constructed by NCRTC is finalised at the earliest and for that a high level committee has also been formed. We will also award the tender for civil construction soon,' the official said.

ED Issues Look Out Notice Against Anil Ambani: Report
A SEBI report allegedly found that R‑Infra, a Reliance Group company, had moved around Rs. 10,000 crore to other group companies through an undisclosed private entity without declaring it as a related party. New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a lookout circular against businessman Anil Ambani, managing director of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (ADA) Group, according to a report by Hindustan Times. The agency is investigating allegations of loan fraud worth thousands of crores by his companies, sources told HT on August 1. The issuance of a lookout circular, or LOC, means that Ambani can no longer leave India without the permission of courts. As per the HT report, Ambani has also been summoned for questioning under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on August 5. 'We have issued a LOC against Anil Ambani and issued summons to him on August 5 asking him to appear in Delhi for recording his statement under the PMLA in the loan fraud probe,' HT quoted an officer in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as saying. The unnamed source also said that Ambani would likely be asked about various loans based on findings by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), a statutory body under the government of India that regulates securities and the commodity market in the country. The HT report said that the ED searched the premises of 50 companies and 25 people, including senior executives, associated with the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group companies, last week. According to officials, the ED is looking into alleged financial irregularities and collective loan diversion amounting to more than Rs. 17,000 crore by multiple companies under the Group including Reliance Infrastructure (R Infra). According to The New Indian Express, a report by SEBI allegedly disclosed via ED sources accused R‑Infra of moving approximately Rs. 10,000 crore to group companies through an undisclosed private entity named CLE Pvt Ltd – without declaring it as a related party, possibly to avoid approvals from shareholders and audit panels – under the guise of inter‑corporate deposits, equity investments and corporate guarantees. According to the report, these transactions allegedly span across the financial years of 2013 to 2023, with total exposure to CLE reported at Rs. 8,302 crore by SEBI, and write‑offs reaching Rs 10,110 crore during the financial years (FY) 2017–21. Reliance ADA Group rejects allegations The Reliance ADA Group has, however, rejected these allegations, according to the TNIE report. A spokesperson of the Reliance Group said in a statement that the allegation regarding the diversion of ₹10,000 crore to an undisclosed party was a 10-year-old matter and that the company had stated in its financial statements that its exposure was only around Rs. 6,500 crore, the HT report said. As per the statement, R Infra had already publicly disclosed this matter on February 9 this year. 'Through mandatory mediation proceedings conducted by a retired Supreme Court judge and the mediation award filed before the Hon'ble Bombay High Court, Reliance Infrastructure arrived at a settlement to recover its 100 per cent exposure of ₹6,500 crore,' HT quoted the statement as saying. Per the report, the company also claimed that Anil Ambani had not been on the Board of Reliance Infrastructure for more than three years, since March 2022. The ED is also looking into allegations of illegal loan diversion of approximately Rs. 3,000 crore provided by Yes Bank to companies under the Reliance Group, Reliance Home Finance Limited and Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd, between 2017 and 2019. According to the HT report, ED officials had stated last week that Yes Bank promoters received money in their accounts just before the loan was granted to these companies. US tariff shock jolts Punjab exporters

'The tariffs announced by the US President are not just disappointing but very worrying,' said Amit Thapar of Ganga Acrowools Limited in Ludhiana, which exports yarn to the US. Thapar, who is also the chairman of CII's (Northern Region) export committee, said, 'Textile exports worth approximately $10.05 billion were made from India to the US last year and this year till May, the exports have already grown by 13 %.' Punjab contributes a significant 28% to India's total textile export of $36 billion. 'But the problem now facing the industry in the state is lower tariffs on competing countries like Turkey (15%), Vietnam (20%), Pakistan (19%), Bangladesh (20%) and Sri Lanka (20%), all lower than India. This puts Indian exporters at a huge disadvantage. Buyers have been calling us. We will start holding meetings to chart the future path amid uncertainty. I hope the situation improves,' he added. SC Ralhan, president, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), who is the managing director of Ludhiana-based Sri Tool industries, said the tariffs were a major setback for the hand tools industry in Punjab that annually exports machinery worth ₹3,000 crore to the US. 'Our government is negotiating with exporters on this front. They are likely to compensate us, but if the tariff is implemented, it will be a huge setback. Countries like Vietnam and Turkey are set to benefit straight away,' he said. Upkar Singh Ahuja, president, Chamber of Commercial and Industrial Undertakings (CICU), said the industry in Punjab will be adversely hit, as besides textiles, hand tools machinery and auto parts were exported in huge quantities to the US. 'We are hopeful that the Indian government will provide a respite soon,' he said.

Punjab's GST collection in July logs 32% jump
Finance, planning, excise and taxation minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday claimed that the state had once again broken records in tax revenue growth, with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection registering a net growth of 32.08% in July 2025 compared to the same period last year. Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh (HT) He said for the last three years, the state had been setting record-breaking growth in tax revenue year-on-year and month-on-month. In a press statement, the finance minister highlighted that the net GST revenue collected in July 2025 was ₹2,357.78 crore, a substantial increase of ₹572.71 crore compared to the ₹1,785.07 crore collected in July 2024. He further shared that up to July of the current financial year, net GST revenue had reached ₹9,188.18 crore, marking an increase of ₹2,025.36 crore over the ₹7,162.82 crore collected during the same period in the 2024-25 fiscal year. Cheema attributed this growth to the policies implemented by the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government, which he claimed had fostered a conducive business environment and encouraged tax compliance. He said the department's enforcement actions had also curbed tax evasion, with a focus on providing assistance to honest taxpayers. Cheema revealed that the State Investigation and Preventive Unit (SIPU) recovered ₹156.40 crore in penalties during the first quarter of FY 2025-26. This includes ₹57.43 crore from road checks and ₹98.97 crore from inspections and verifications. Further, SIPU uncovered two significant GST fraud cases, involving ₹2,620.80 crore in fake transactions and estimated tax evasion of ₹296.32 crore, leading to two FIRs in June 2025. The finance minister said the Punjab government's proactive measures had positioned the state among the top performers in tax mobilisation, despite many challenges. He said the state's GST collection growth rate had consistently surpassed the national average, reflecting the effectiveness of the government's policies and initiatives.
