During a Washington press conference on Wednesday, Jaishankar emphasised, "What is important for us in the Quad statement, as also the statement that the Security Council had issued on April 25, is that the perpetrators of terrorism must be held accountable. They must be brought to justice."
He further stated, "And that's important because we then have to communicate to the world what we did. On May 7, the objective of Operation Sindoor is that if there are terrorist attacks, we will act against the perpetrators, the supporters, the financiers, and the enablers.
So that message, I think, was conveyed with great clarity."
The Quad Foreign Ministers - Jaishankar, US secretary of state Marco Rubio, Australian foreign minister Penny Wong, and Japanese foreign minister Takeshi Iwaya - issued a joint statement denouncing terrorism and extremism, including cross-border activities.
They strongly condemned the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 casualties.
The joint statement urged swift justice for those responsible: "We call for the perpetrators, organisers, and financiers of this reprehensible act to be brought to justice without any delay and urge all UN member states, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant UNSCRs, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard."
The UN Security Council's press statement condemned the Pahalgam attack, emphasising accountability for the perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors.

The Security Council members insisted on holding those responsible for the killings accountable.
Operation Sindoor was India's response targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Jaishankar discussed India's decades-long terrorism challenges with Quad counterparts and global partners, affirming India's firm response and right to self-defence.
Beyond Quad discussions, Jaishankar held productive bilateral meetings with Rubio, reviewing recent developments and future plans, covering trade, technology, defence, security, energy and mobility. He also met separately with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

India launches anti-dumping probe into paperboard imports from Indonesia
The commerce ministry's arm DGTR has initiated an anti-dumping probe into the import of multi-layer paperboard from Indonesia following a complaint by domestic players. The Indian Paper Manufacturer Association has filed the application on behalf of the domestic industry before the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) for the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of "Virgin Multi-layer Paperboard" originating in or exported from Indonesia. The applicant has alleged that the industry is impacted due to the dumped imports. The product is used in the packaging of pharmaceuticals, FMCG products, food and beverages, electronics, high-end cosmetics, liquor, book covers, and publishing. According to the DGTR's notification, the applicant has provided prima facie evidence with respect to the injury suffered by the domestic industry due to the dumped imports. "The authority hereby initiates an anti-dumping investigation to determine the existence, degree and effect of the dumping," it said. If it is established that the dumping has caused material injury to domestic players, the DGTR would recommend the imposition of the levy on imports. The finance ministry takes the final decision to impose duties. Anti-dumping probes are conducted by countries to determine whether domestic industries have been hurt because of a surge in cheap imports. As a countermeasure, they impose these duties under the multilateral regime of the Geneva-based World Trade Organization (WTO). The duty is aimed at ensuring fair trading practices and creating a level playing field for domestic producers vis--vis foreign producers and exporters. India and Indonesia are members of the WTO, which is a 166-member multilateral trade body. India has already imposed anti-dumping duties on several products to tackle cheap imports from various countries, including China.
