Holland Langhorn-Padilla, 32, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Centennial, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office announced Friday. He was taken into custody on several charges, including:
Sexual Exploitation of a Child
Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child
Internet Luring of a Child
Possession of Sexually Exploitative Material
Habitual Sex Offender Against Children
He also allegedly resisted and assaulted an investigator trying to arrest him.
The charges stem from a six-month-long investigation involving the Crimes Against Children Unit, which found that Langhorn-Padilla 'was sexually exploiting children and in possession of materials containing child sexual abuse,' the sheriff's office said in a press release.
Investigators said that Langhorn-Padilla, a convicted sex offender, tried to sexually exploit and lure a 12-year-old girl by harassing her via texts.
The girl got his number from two of her friends, who Langhorn-Padilla was contacting through the app Snapchat. He allegedly urged the girl to meet with him to exchange sexual favors for vape devices and alcohol.
The sheriff's office said investigators have reason to believe that there are more victims out there, and they are asking the public for help in trying to find them.
Langhorn-Padilla is described as:
5 feet 9 inches
250 lbs
Brown hair
Brown eyes
Stretched/gauged ears
Distinct tattoos
Additional booking photos show large tattoos of skulls on his right arm sleeve, a ram with an upside-down cross on the left fore-arm, and '666' vertically tattooed near his right ear.
The sheriff's office said he was driving a 2020 black Chevy Impala with license plate EEJO88 when he tried to meet with the victim, but he is also known to drive a 2014 gray Hyundai Sonata with a temporary registration plate number 7360443.
Langhorn-Padilla used the Snapchat usernames of 'noise666' and n666iser' and the phone number 720-666-1646.
The sheriff's office asks anyone with information on the case or who knows someone who may have communicated with, was extorted by, or exploited by Langhorn-Padilla to contact the tip line at 720-874-8477.
Langhorn-Padilla was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility, and he is being held on a $150,000 bond.

City commissioner in Florida asked 12-year-old Illinois girl for nudes, cops say

An elected official in Florida is facing two dozen felony charges after a mom in Illinois reported he had been sexting her 12-year-old daughter over Snapchat, authorities said. St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro Jr. announced July 24 that law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on Fort Pierce City Commissioner James Taylor, 38, and took him into custody. His arrest marks the culmination of a nearly yearlong investigation that began in August 2024 when the victim's mom filed a report with the Evanston Police Department, the sheriff said in a news conference. The mom of the now-13-year-old girl said a man had been inappropriately contacting her daughter over Snapchat beginning when she was 12, according to investigators. He sent her nude images of himself and asked her to do the same, Del Toro said. This went on for a couple months, investigators said. Detectives in Illinois traced the messages to a person in St. Lucie County and contacted the sheriff's office, which confirmed the suspect's IP address belonged to Taylor, the sheriff said. Investigators don't believe Taylor and the girl ever met in person. Taylor was pulled over during a traffic stop involving a 'ruse,' and was cooperating with detectives, according to the sheriff. 'I would say that he admitted his role in these and was very remorseful, obviously, I think mainly because he was caught,' Del Toro said. Taylor was elected Fort Pierce's District 2 commissioner in 2024 after serving on the county's planning and zoning commission for nearly a decade, according to his commissioner biography. He's involved in several local organizations, including the county's education board and theater advisory board. 'The City of Fort Pierce is aware of the recent arrest of Commissioner James Taylor,' a spokesperson for the city told McClatchy News in an email. 'We understand that this development may raise concerns within our community, and we want to reassure our residents that we remain committed to serving the public with integrity, transparency and accountability.' The 24 charges against Taylor include: transmission of materials harmful to minors by electronic equipmenttransfer or display of obscenity to a minorharmful communication to a minorlewd computer solicitationlewd computer solicitation of a child solicitation of transmission of child pornography by electronic device or equipment. Law enforcement officers are investigating whether there could be additional victims and ask anyone with information to come forward. Fort Pierce is about a 65-mile drive north from West Palm Beach.

All the key Jay Slater evidence from final inquest session as coroner's investigation comes to a close

The inquest into Jay Slater's disappearance was resumed today after being on hold for two months - but two key witnesses still failed to show on the final day of the investigation. When the inquest started on May 21, 2025 it was dramatically halted after Jay's mum Debbie asked for extra attempts to be made to locate witnesses who had failed to respond to a request to give evidence. After just over 12 months, Jay Slater's family now have answers about how the 19-year-old died and the circumstances leading up to his disappearance, Lancs Live reports. Sign up to the MEN Court newsletter here The inquest resumed today with evidence being heard from Brad Geoghegan and Lucy Law - the two friends who were with Jay in Tenerife when he disappeared. A third friend Brandon Hodgson did not make contact with the coroner's service, and Steven 'Rocky' Roccas - one of the two men who rented the Airbnb where Jay was last seen - could also not be found. The entirety of the evidence has now been heard with the coroner, Dr James Adeley, due to give his summing-up and conclusion on Friday morning. During proceedings the court heard from Brad Geoghegan, who described how he and Jay "might have took it a bit too far" with the drink and drugs as their trip to Tenerife last summer was their 'first boys' holiday". Although Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, had been drunk, on the night of Sunday, June 16 - the last night of the NRG music festival - he was still coherent and not "in a state", Brad said. This was corroborated by Ayub Qassim, the other man who had rented the Airbnb where Jay was last seen. Ayub, who gave his evidence via video link from a foreign country, said that Jay was "on a buzz" but could still stand up and talk. Jay had asked Ayub and Rocky if he could go back to their Airbnb, the inquest heard. Ayub warned Jay it was "far away" but promised to drop him back off in town the following morning. A picture of Jay, taken by Ayub after they parked up at the Airbnb in Masca, showed him smiling. Ayub left Jay with a blanket, a towel and a "deck of fags" and then went upstairs to bed. Join our Court and Crime WhatsApp group HERE He was later woken by a neighbour ringing the doorbell to get Ayub to move his car which had blocked in their van. Jay then told Ayub he was going to catch a bus back to town. Ayub told Jay "it's not the kind of place where there's a bus every 10 minutes" but Jay insisted on setting off. Ayub repeatedly insisted that Jay "didn't steal no watch", referencing a Snapchat message Jay had sent to a friends in which he claimed to have stolen a Rolex or an Audemars Piguet watch. Ayub suggested this could have been a case of Jay exaggerating or trying to show off to his mates. Jay's other childhood friend, Lucy Law who he had met at secondary school, was seen as the "sensible" member of the group. When Jay called her on the morning of Monday June 17, and said he was walking home but needed a drink, she urged him to "go back" to the Airbnb "before it gets boiling". Jay's mobile phone battery then died, at around 8.43am, and he was reported missing shortly afterwards at 9am. His body was found in a ravine, on July 15, by a mountain rescue team who said Jay's bag had been found around 20 metres higher up - suggesting that was where he fell from. The inquest will continue from 10am on Friday, July 25 when the coroner will sum up the case and then deliver his conclusion.

Crown says Hamilton cop charged with sexual assault ‘vigorously pursued' relationship with colleague

A Crown attorney has asked a judge to find a Hamilton police officer guilty of sexually assaulting his younger colleague more than three years ago. Crown attorney Jason Nicol spent a handful of hours presenting his final submissions to the Burlington courtroom on Tuesday as the months-long trial for Const. Jeffrey Turnbull came to a close. Turnbull is accused of sexually assaulting a colleague in the basement of his Ancaster home in March 2022. The sexual assault charge was announced in June 2023 following a probe by the Special Investigations Unit. Turnbull has pleaded not guilty and remains suspended with pay. His trial began in early January and has sat sporadically ever since. Nicol noted that while Turnbull has been charged with just one count of sexual assault, the complainant alleged multiple incidents of inappropriate touching at the hands of her more senior colleague. Nicol went on to suggest that Justice Jennifer Campitelli could take 'multiple routes' to find Turnbull guilty in the case. Earlier this year, the complainant — whose identity is protected by a publication ban — testified that she and Turnbull met on the job in late 2021, months after she was sworn into the service and still in her probationary period. Turnbull had been with the Hamilton Police Service for more than a decade at the time. The complainant said the two first spoke when she was sitting alone in the lunchroom. Turnbull said he couldn't find her on social media. He told her about his family and asked if she was in a relationship. She said he also talked about her being a female officer, and how there 'would be rumours' about her 'sleeping with other police officers' — conversations that left her feeling 'super uncomfortable.' The complainant said she gave Turnbull her Snapchat information and cellphone number. The complainant said Turnbull would discuss his mental health and marriage, compliment her and make suggestive comments. She also said he sent her photos of his genitalia. An on-the-job spinal injury in January 2022 led the complainant to be put on alternative duties in a separate office. That's where she alleges several incidents involving Turnbull took place in February and March 2022, including partially unzipping her work pants, grabbing her buttocks and trying to kiss her. She said the situation escalated on March 26, 2022. She testified that Turnbull had asked her to come over, but she declined. Later that evening, the complainant said she started getting more messages from Turnbull, including ones about 'killing himself,' so she drove to his house in Ancaster. When the complainant got there, she said, she met his children. And later on, she alleged that Turnbull sexually assaulted her on a couch in the basement of his home — while his children were upstairs and his wife was away. Turnbull previously testified that he and the complainant had engaged in a months-long affair that began with texts and Snapchats about things like food, music and workouts, and later progressed to sexting and the exchange of nude photos. Turnbull later told the court that the affair came to an end in early April 2022, just days after they had consensual sex at his house while his wife was at a yoga retreat. But Nicol painted a much different picture in the courtroom on Tuesday, suggesting that Turnbull 'vigorously pursued' a relationship with the complainant, despite her trying to set boundaries and ask for space. Nicol also once again suggested that Turnbull was 'psychologically manipulative' when it came to his mental health, often using it to coerce the complainant . 'This case is about a more experienced and senior police officer who would not take no for an answer from a younger, very inexperienced female colleague despite her attempts to mollify him and repel his advances,' said Nicol. 'This was not a mutually agreeable relationship.' Nicol also spent parts of his closing submissions responding to those made by defence lawyer Joanne Mulcahy earlier in the trial. Mulcahy had previously suggested to the court that there were 'significant concerns' about the reliability of the complainant, pointing to inconsistencies and evasiveness in her testimony. Mulcahy noted that the complainant's testimony didn't match police records , she had issues remembering dates and that she had asked to see her previous statements and testimony while being questioned on the stand. Nicol argued that it was 'unfair and unrealistic' to think the complainant had memorized her prior statements and testimony, as well as conversations with Turnbull, which were also raised by Mulcahy throughout the trial. Nicol said that while the complainant 'did not have perfect recall and her evidence was not without flaws,' she had been 'consistent and clear' throughout the trial when it came to the allegations against Turnbull . 'It has always been clear that she never consented,' said Nicol. '(Turnbull) should be convicted as charged.' Mulcahy replied to those submissions, ending with a suggestion to the judge that it would 'not be safe to convict' her client based on the evidence. A verdict in the case is expected in early October. Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request. There was a problem with the recaptcha. Please try again.
