Miami LB Adarius Hayes injured in fatal car crash
Sophomore Miami linebacker Adarius Hayes was injured in a two-car crash that left two children dead and several others in the hospital.
Police in Largo, Fla., the hometown of Hayes, said the crash occurred at 1:45 p.m. Saturday as a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul that was making a left turn at an intersection.
Killed were 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria, according to police.
It was unclear Sunday whether Hayes was a driver or a passenger and which car he was traveling in.
University officials have not commented on the crash or the extent of Hayes' injuries.
Hayes played in 12 games as a freshman in the 2024 season, primarily on special teams. He had four tackles and one interception.
Coming out of Largo High School, Hayes was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2024.

Anthony Thomas Reyes, 22, was busted just after midnight earlier in June. It was the second time that he had been caught trying to climb over the walls. It's unclear if Kai Trump was inside of the walls at the time of the incident, but it's still a terribly frightening situation. Kai Trump, only 18, has become a very public figure. She has blown up on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, with millions of followers. Kai Trump has become an influencer, posting vlogs about her life and interacting with other creators. Prayers are pouring in for her as she deals with this scary situation. It's incredibly frightening to have what appears to be a stalker situation. "Horrible," one fan wrote. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment on the matter. Advertisement 'We are cooperating with the federal prosecutors' investigation,' NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement released to the AP and other outlets on Sunday. ESPN was the first to report on the investigation. 'There have been no charges against Malik,' Steve Haney, Beasley's attorney, told the AP. 'It's just an investigation at this point. We hope people reserve judgement until he's charged — or if he's charged. It's not uncommon for there to be a federal investigation.' The probe into Beasley comes 14 months after the NBA banned Toronto's Jontay Porter, who was linked to a prop bet investigation and eventually pleaded guilty to committing wire fraud. The Porter investigation started once the league learned from 'licensed sports betting operators and an organization that monitors legal betting markets' about unusual gambling patterns surrounding Porter's performance in a game on March 20, 2024, against Sacramento. The league determined that Porter gave a bettor information about his own health status prior that game and said that another individual — known to be an NBA bettor — placed an $80,000 bet that Porter would not hit the numbers set for him in parlays through an online sports book. That bet would have won $1.1 million. Advertisement Beasley signed last year with the Pistons, taking a one-year contract for $6 million in the hopes of cashing in this summer as a free agent. A second person, speaking to AP on condition of anonymity because no deal was announced, said Detroit was 'very interested' in re-signing Beasley to a multi-year contract this summer. Man killed in Northwest Miami-Dade hit-and-run, sheriff's office says; suspected driver ditched vehicle and ran away
A man is dead after an early morning hit-and-run in northwestern Miami-Dade County early Sunday morning, the sheriff's office said. Shortly before 4 a.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of 11500 NW 7th Ave. regarding a traffic accident where a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. According to MDSO, the suspected driver left the vehicle on scene and ran away. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the man dead. The suspected driver has not been located and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
