An attack on a school in southeastern Austria reportedly by a former student has left several people dead , police said Tuesday, in a rare case of deadly gun violence in a European school.

Heavily armed police, a helicopter and paramedics descended upon the school in Graz, where 10 people including the alleged lone shooter were killed and 'several severely injured', regional police said on X.
'The identities of those affected are currently being established,' police said, adding the situation as 'secure' and support was being provided to witnesses and those affected.
Graz Mayor Elke Kahr told Austrian press agency APA that 10 people including several students and one adult were killed.
The alleged shooter acted alone, police said, and his motive is unknown.
Austrian media reported the suspect is believed to be a 22-year-old former student who also took his own life.
Located in the northwest of Graz, the site where the shooting occurred is not far from the main central train station. Local media reported that injured students were being treated at the nearby Helmut List Hall, an events venue situated close to the school.

Although the woman refused to make a formal accusation, prosecutors decided to press charges against the player. She told police at the time that she had met Hakimi in January 2023 on the night in question she said she had travelled to his house in a taxi paid for by Hakimi. She told police Hakimi had started kissing her and making non-consensual sexual advances, before raping her, a police source told AFP at the time. South Korea's Yoon Refuses Interrogation By Lying Down In Underwear
South Korea's impeached former president Yoon Suk Yeol lay on his prison cell floor in his underwear to resist attempts to interrogate him, prosecutors said Friday. Prosecutors obtained a fresh arrest warrant on Thursday to forcibly bring the former leader in for questioning over allegations of election tampering. However, they were "unable to do so due to his strong refusal", prosecutor Oh Jeong-hee told reporters. "The suspect refused arrest while lying on the floor without wearing his prison-issued clothing," she said. "Due to concerns over safety incidents, physical force was withheld, and the execution of the warrant was temporarily suspended." Yoon was wearing "a sleeveless top and prison-issued briefs," prosecutors said, calling it the "most appropriate way" to describe his attire given the "serious nature of the situation". Prosecutors informed Yoon they would have to carry out physical force if necessary in the next attempt. Yoon was arrested after he tried to impose martial law on December 3, sending troops to parliament to prevent lawmakers from voting down his declaration and plunging the country into political turmoil. He faces a litany of charges, from insurrection to election tampering, but has refused multiple times to appear at his summons.
