Flying saucer enthusiasts and curious Ufologists will be craning their necks toward the heavens after checking out our exclusive clip for "Watch the Skies," a refreshing Swedish sci-fi movie being released on May 9, 2025, from XYZ Films ("Ash").
Titled "UFO Freak," the uncanny 2-minute sneak peek reveals strange phenomena erupting around a group of teens hanging out at a late-night gathering in an abandoned building, causing them to scatter.
This charming, nostalgic film is also being billed as the world's first "AI-dubbed" international flick using a procedure developed by Flawless to match up the lip movements of the characters from Swedish to English, and the results are pretty impressive. The process required the original foreign actors to record their dialogue in English prior to applying the pioneering TrueSynch technology.
Directed by Swedish filmmaker Victor Danell, "Watch the Skies" involves a spunky teenager named Denise whose father has vanished and was possibly abducted by extraterrestrials seen in the nearby forests.
She hooks up with a local investigative association called UFO Sweden and its misfit band of colorful characters who help her discover the truth of this UFO mystery.
"Watch the Skies" arrives in U.S. theaters on May 9 with an ensemble cast that includes Inez Dahl Torhaug (Denise), with Eva Melander, Jesper Barkselius, Sara Shirpey, Håkan Ehn, Isabelle Kyed, Niklas Kvarnbo Jönsson, and Mathias Lithner.

This rom-com flick stars Sofia Carson as Anna De La Vega, an American freshly arrived at Oxford University. But quickly into her year abroad, she meets Jamie (Corey Mylchreest), and they begin a fun fling. But Anna plans on returning to New York and Jamie doesn't plan on going with her. As that fateful day of departure approaches, things start to get messy for this budding romance. Senior Writer Alix Blackburn thinks this movie "looks like pure comfort wrapped in charm" and could be one of the must-watch movies of the summer. So don't miss "My Oxford Summer" this week. Watch on Netflix starting Aug. 1 'Perfect Match' season 3 If Netflix does one thing well, it's pumping out a bunch of reality shows with attractive singles. One of those shows is "Perfect Match," which puts the top singles from the Netflix Reality Universe into a single dating show, with "Love Is Blind" host Nick Lachey in charge. These seasoned Netflix reality vets now must try to see if they're a perfect match — or if they can set others up on the perfect date. But in season 3, they'll also be competing with former contestants from non-Netflix shows like "The Bachelor and "Love Island." I was worried that the season would have too little time to cover too many storylines, but I can confidently say that this ultimately wasn't the issue. This week brings a final special episode, "Death: The High Cost of Living," which centers around Morpheus' sister Death, though I'll be shocked if Dream doesn't make a final appearance. Watch on Netflix starting July 31 'Dusty Slay: Wet Heat' I only recently became familiar with Dusty Slay, the Nashville comedian who has become one of the biggest up-and-coming names in comedy. Slay's comedy revolves around the mundane aspects of everyday life, and "Dusty Slay: Wet Heat" looks set to be no different. Don't come expecting jokes about politics — come expecting jokes about checking out of hotels and hot, humid Southern summers. Watch it now on Netflix 'Trainwreck: Storm Area 51' Area 51 is where (allegedly) the U.S. government keeps aliens hidden from the rest of the world. It's a top-secret site. So trying to invade it would have to be one of the dumbest ideas anyone could possibly think of ... right? Well, someone did think of it, and they made a joke Facebook event about storming the heavily-guarded military base to free the aliens. Which, of course, the U.S. government didn't love, threatening to shoot anyone who attempted such a stupendously stupid idea. Want to see what a bad idea this was for yourself? "WWE Unreal" takes you behind the scenes on all the literal effort, blood, sweat and tears that go into some of the biggest storylines since the wrestling outfit moved to Netflix. Watch it now on Netflix 'Leanne' "Leanne" stars Leanne Morgan as Leanne, a newly single woman after her husband shockingly leaves her after 33 years of marriage. This forces her to start anew and to do that, she's going to need help. Enter Carol (Kristen Johnston), Leanne's ride-or-die sister who's going to make sure Leanne gets back on the horse (or a hot date) rather than wallowing at home. For 12-15 hours of flight, that's about 24-30 metric tons." Though the figures are just estimates, they detail the continuation of a wasteful lifestyle. A few months ago, the Biebers flew their private jet from Palm Springs to Los Angeles instead of embarking on what would've been a two-hour drive. Like the OP alluded to, planes release much more pollution than other modes of transportation. According to Our World in Data, planes have a disproportionate effect on the atmosphere with their carbon dioxide pollution. Private jets, though only a small fraction of the world's airplanes, are even worse. PBS reported that a study found that most private jets release more pollution into the air in two hours than an average person does in a year. What's more, these flights are usually unnecessary. More often than not, they're lifestyle-related, researchers told PBS — just like the Biebers' recent vacation. "Yea it's a 'brand' trip supposedly," the OP wrote, speculating that there was more to the story. Paul Mario Day, Original Iron Maiden Vocalist, Dies at 69
Paul Mario Day, the English vocalist best known for his role as the original singer of metal icons Iron Maiden, has passed away at the age of 69. Day's tenure with the early Iron Maiden lineup was short-lived, having been recruited by bassist Steve Harris to join the band in late 1975. The band's initial lineup lasted only for ten months, with Day exiting the group following claims he lacked both energy and charisma. 'We were all nobodys all trying to make the best music we could and fighting for an audience.' Though a live member with no recorded output to his name, Day was replaced by Dennis Wilcock who himself a short-lived member of the group, lasting only until 1978 without appearing on any recorded material. Wilcock was later replaced by Paul Di'Anno, who performed on the band's first two albums before being succeeded by longtime vocalist Bruce Dicksinson. Iron Maiden's self-titled 1980 debut album also contained the track 'Strange World,' which Day later claimed he had co-written without being properly credited. 'Back then we were all pulling for the same side and it still hurts to think the first-ever song I ever composed was on a big-selling album and nobody knows it was me,' he said. In 2019, however, Day asserted the issue of co-authorship was 'finished with,' adding that 'everything's fine as far as that's concerned.' Following his brief stint with Iron Maiden, Day also fronted the groups More and Wildfire, before joining a reformed version of English glam rockers Sweet as their lead vocalist alongside guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker. 'In 1985 Mick Tucker and myself put together the first new line-up of Sweet after the hiatus of the original band,' Scott wrote in a tribute post shared to Facebook. 'We needed a singer and when Paul arrived for the audition we looked no further. 'Our first dates were in Australia, total sell-outs which boded well for the future. Europe followed suit and 3 sold out nights at the Marquee in London produced a live album, video and DVD. Live at the Marquee did well in various charts around the world and Paul's vocal performance has stood the test of time.' 'Paul was a huge part of the NWOBHM [New Wave of British Heavy Metal] from his time in an early version of Iron Maiden and of course his fantastic performance on the Warhead album,' a social media statement from More said of Day's legacy. 'He was a well loved figure in British rock music and played many memorable shows not least the legendary 1981 Monsters of Rock show at Castle Donington with AC/DC, Whitesnake/David Coverdale as well as tours with Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and many other legendary artists.'
