Sai added that some other officials and personnel were also injured in the attack and has directed for their proper treatment.
The Chief Minister asserted that security forces are engaged in a major battle against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh, and they are achieving continuous success.
"Frustrated by the actions of security forces, Naxalites are resorting to such cowardly acts, but they will have to face the consequences," he said.
Sai expressed deep condolences to the family of the martyred ASP and assured that the state government stands with them in this hour of grief, reaffirming that the day is not far when Naxalites will be eradicated from Chhattisgarh.

Man injured as IED planted by Naxalites explodes in Chhattisgarh
Bijapur, Aug 5 (PTI) A 24-year-old man sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites went off in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Tuesday, police said. This is the second such incident in the district in the last 48 hours. The blast occurred around 8 am when the victim, Pramod Kakem, had gone to a rivulet for a bath near Gunjeparti village under the Usoor police station limits, an official said. He inadvertently came in contact with the IED, which exploded, causing injuries to his palms, he said. The official said Kakem, a resident of the Ilmidi police station area, had gone to his relative's place in Gunjeparti. The injured villager was provided preliminary treatment and shifted to a community health centre in Usoor, he added. In a similar blast on Monday, a 50-year-old man was injured in a forest near Pujarikanker village under the Usoor police station limits while he was grazing cattle, police said. The Maoists often plant IEDs on dirt tracks to target security personnel who use such routes during anti-Naxalite operations inside forests. Civilians have fallen prey to such traps laid by ultras in the past in the Bastar region, police said. Police have appealed to the public to exercise extra caution when visiting forest areas and to immediately report any suspicious objects or activities to the nearest police station or security camp. On July 13, three persons, including a minor girl, were injured in a similar incident in the Madded area of Bijapur. Around 27 people have lost their lives in Maoist violence in the Bastar region, comprising seven districts, including Bijapur, so far this year. Rajya Sabha approves six-month extension of President's rule in Manipur
New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today passed the statutory resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur for six more months. Amid heavy sloganeering by the Opposition in the Upper House, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai moved the resolution. The resolution was adopted via voice vote, with the House adjourned till August 6. President's Rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13, shortly after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned amid escalating violence and political instability that had gripped the state for nearly two years. The House adopted the resolution for the continuation in force of the Proclamation dated February 13, 2025, regarding Manipur, issued under Article 356 of the Constitution by the President, for a further period of six months with effect from August 13, 2025. Earlier, on July 30, the Lok Sabha had approved the resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur. The decision under Article 356 of the Constitution means that the President will now exercise direct control over the state's administration through the Governor. The proclamation, published in the Gazette of India by the Union Home Ministry, states that the powers of the Manipur Legislative Assembly have been transferred to Parliament, effectively suspending the authority of the state government. Under this order, the Governor's powers are exercised by the President; the state legislature's powers are assumed by Parliament; and certain constitutional provisions relating to legislative procedures and governance are suspended to ensure smooth central administration. President's Rule is typically imposed when a state government is considered incapable of functioning according to constitutional norms. The move follows ongoing political instability and law and order concerns in Manipur.
