Woman who let little girl drive car ordered to do unpaid work
Sophie-Leigh Gemmell, 32, admitted culpable and reckless conduct after letting the child – aged under ten – drive the vehicle through Crimond, Aberdeenshire, in bad weather.
The video of the incident, which happened on July 10 last year, was seen on Snapchat.

At Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday, Gemmell was given a 134-hour community payback order – reduced from 200 due to her plea.
Sheriff Alan Sinclair said her actions were 'reckless in the extreme'.
But he said a custodial sentence would have been 'disproportionate'. The court heard she had no previous criminal record.
He told the mother that she and the girl were 'very fortunate' not to have suffered more serious consequences and added that allowing a child to operate machinery could have caused injury to both the occupants of the car and the wider public.
The sheriff said filming the incident 'defies any reasonable explanation'.
Gemmell's defence agent said the 32-year-old had difficult family circumstances and was the victim of domestic abuse.
He said her behaviour was an attempt at 'levity' during a 'dire' time for the family.
The defence agent said Gemmell admitted her 'behaviour was completely foolish' and a result of 'poor decision-making'.
He said she wished to apologise to the court and showed 'genuine remorse' for her actions and an 'acceptance' that 'the behaviour was wrong and a willingness to accept that'.
He added that a social work report found she was 'of no risk of further offending' and 'does not need supervision'.
The defence said Gemmell 'appreciates and understands this is a serious matter' that 'could have had serious consequences' and that she recognised she deserves to be punished for her actions.
Gemmell must complete her unpaid work within 12 months.

An Edinburgh Fringe performer has claimed he was called a 'lady boy' by youths who allegedly attacked him on the Royal Mile. Eddie Jen, who uses he/she pronouns, is performing his show 'Seeking a PenPal For the End of the World' to the festival this year. Before it starts he was out handing out flyers but says he was accosted by a gang of thugs on Tuesday, July 29, reports Edinburgh Live. Eddie claims the male youths "beat him on the head", ripped off his bow and poured their drinks on him. Speaking out since the incident, Eddie said "it all happened so quickly". He added: "I was just so excited and happy to be in Edinburgh and to start with, I got great reactions. The youngsters aren't even a minority and they aren't speaking for everyone. "It all happened so quickly, they just came up to me and started saying 'are you a lady boy?' and 'are you a boy or a girl?' "I remained polite but as I went back to my corner to continue flyering, they hit my head, ripped off my bow and poured their drinks over me. It all happened within two minutes. "I was honestly in shock but I am so glad I was able to film it all and get people talking about this." The performer from San Francisco said she isn't letting the incident dampen her time in Edinburgh. Eddie has met a lot of kind people in the capital - including one man who assisted after the incident. She added: "There was one kind Scottish gentleman who came up to me to see if I was okay. "I really am an optimist and I am able to get the full Fringe experience right now. I mean so far, I have been harassed and done shows with no attendance so it seems I am getting everything bad out the way in the first week. "Last year I came to the Fringe to see if I was up to par and I absolutely loved it - the city is magical, there really is something about it. "I went out flyering again yesterday, I put on the same outfit and I kept going. I am just so excited to be here." Getting over 200,000 views, the clip has since gone viral and many people have offered their support to the performer. The video was captioned: "I was attacked in drag at Edinburgh Fringe 2025. It's my first solo show. "I was so excited to flyer and find an audience and then a group of young men began harassing me. They beat me on the head, ripped off my bow and poured their drinks on me." Almost 1000 comments have come in after the short clip was posted online. One person said: "Why is it always teenagers? Where are their parents? "I'm terrified of teenage boys in Edinburgh, they're just looking for trouble." A second said: "That's so bad a member of the public has to explain this is not how Scotland is and excusing their bad behaviour." "I'm so sorry this happened to you. I live in Edinburgh and unfortunately this type of stuff happens a lot. It's horrible but not all teenagers are like that", a third commented. Eddie's show started yesterday and will run at Just The Tonic at the Caves at 1.05pm until August 24. Woman who died at scene of single-car crash on A9 named
A woman who died at the scene of a crash on the A9 has been named. Emma Foster was pronounced dead at the scene after the white Kia Sportage she was travelling in crashed near Lower Tullich, Invergordon around 2am on Wednesday. The 29-year-old's family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers. Sergeant Kate Finlayson from Dingwall Road Policing said: 'Our thoughts remain with Emma's family and friends at this extremely difficult time. 'I would again appeal to anyone with information to come forward. 'We are keen to speak to those who were driving in the area at the time, especially if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries.' Police attacked eight times and respond to 43 drug incidents during TRNSMT
Police officers were attacked a total of eight times and attended 43 drug-related incidents during TRNSMT last month, according to a Freedom of Information request. A total of 19 people were charged during the Glasgow Green event, headlined by 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol, for a number of offences including police assault, assault, sexual assault, culpable and reckless behaviour, hate crime and possession of weapons. An FOI released by Police Scotland has disclosed a breakdown of the 124 incidents which occurred during the weekend of July 11 to 13. Police were assaulted eight times, with five of the attacks occurring on the opening day of the music festival. Officers also responded to 12 attacks on members of the public. Over the weekend, 43 drug-related incidents, including misuse of Class A, B and C substances, occurred. Two sexual assaults were also reported to authorities during the event. On Friday, July 11, one incident involved an individual wearing an item linked to a proscribed terrorist organisation. Police were called to two incidents of people with weapons, including someone with a bladed article. On the closing day of the festival, officers responded to two incidents of racially aggravated behaviour.
