This campaign seeks to achieve comprehensive coverage across all Gram Panchayats (GPs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), ensuring that every eligible citizen gets the intended benefits of these transformative schemes.

Some buyers said consumer awareness is equally important. Buyers should check for certification stamps on weighing machines and report any irregularities to the legal metrology department. Local consumer forums should organise awareness campaigns about proper weighing practices and consumer rights. The govt must strengthen the monitoring and provide adequate staff and resources to the department, they said. Manjunath S, assistant controller of the legal metrology department in Hubballi, said two inspectors oversee the region — one for Hubballi city and another for Hubballi. These market inspectors regularly conduct unannounced inspections and impose penalties on vendors selling vegetables, fruits and groceries. From January to July 2025, authorities registered 118 cases and collected fines totalling Rs 3,85,000. According to regulations, electronic weighing scales require annual calibration, whilst beam weighing scales need calibration every two years. The market inspectors, besides performing surprise checks in the marketplace, are also responsible for affixing seals on the weighing scales, he added.

Min to officials: Complete e-KYC of ration card beneficiaries in a month
Mysuru: Food and civil supplies minister KH Muniyappa on Friday directed the department officials to complete e-KYC of all ration card beneficiaries within a month. He spoke after reviewing the progress meeting with Mysuru divisional level officers of the food, civil supplies, legal metrology, and consumer affairs department held at the office of the deputy commissioner in the city. He issued directions to officers to give another month for the completion of e-KYC to the beneficiaries of ration card holders. Officials may stop the supply of foodgrains to beneficiaries who do not complete the e-KYC process even after one month of the deadline. He asked the officials to constitute vigilance committees at the district level to ensure the proper distribution of foodgrains to beneficiaries. The minister also gave directions to ensure all safe measures for the foodgrains stored in warehouses after buying from farmers under the minimum support price scheme. Speaking on the occasion, secretary for food and civil supplies Manojkumar Jain said that the department initiated measures to give additional charges to food inspectors until vacant posts are filled by the govt in various taluks. Revenue inspectors may also be given additional charge as food inspectors. Dodla Dairy acquires Jharkhand's Osam Dairy for Rs 271 crore
AI image HYDERABAD: Dodla Dairy, a listed Hyderabad-based dairy player, has acquired 100% stake in Jharkhand-based Osam Dairy for a cash consideration of Rs 271 crore. The transaction, which is based on an enterprise value of Rs 247 crore and net cash of Rs 23.8 crore, is expected to be completed in one or two months from the date of signing the share purchase agreement (SPA), Dodla Dairy said. Dodla Dairy managing director Dodla Sunil Reddy said the strategic move marks a milestone in the company's journey to become a pan-India dairy player. 'As a market, eastern India is a very exciting market for the dairy industry with faster growth as compared to the national average. This market supports a large population, and milk consumption has immense headroom for growth driven by high urbanisation potential and strong GDP growth,' he said. The deal will enable the Hyderabad-based dairy player to expand its footprint in the eastern market, achieve significant operational synergies and fuel its long-term growth plan, Dodla Dairy's CEO BVK Reddy said in a business update conference call, as per a BSE filing.
