He only played two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, but his impact has persevered well past his playing days.

Drafted by the Packers in the 10th round of the 1982 NFL Draft, kicker Eddie Garcia's career was cut short by a hamstring injury, prompting a transition into a career in marketing and sales that eventually brought him back to the Packers organization as a board member.
On Tuesday, June 10, the Packers announced that Garcia had passed away on June 5. He was 65.
The cause of death was not disclosed in Garcia's obituary, published originally by The Green Bay Gazette, but it did say his death was unexpected.
"His sudden departure leaves a lasting void for his family, but they are comforted in knowing he is at peace in heaven with his loved ones who departed before him," the obituary states.

As the senior director of Oshkosh Corporation's Oshkosh Defense division, Garcia facilitated the Packers Military Appreciation Game sponsorship as a way to honor service members and veterans.
"It was often joked that Eddie could sell ice to a penguin in relation to his sales talents, but at the end of the day he was most proud to build relationships with our country's active duty military, forming many lasting friendships along the way," the obituary states.
Outside of work, Garcia "loved to travel the world, and then relax in Florida during the cold winters with his wife of 40 years and partner in adventure, Jill," the obituary said.

Packers' $4 million WR with 15-TD signals he is the odd man out after cryptic Stephen Curry post
The Green Bay Packers have some roster decisions to make—surprisingly, it's not the defense that needs help, but rather the wide receiver room, which may be overcrowded. It appears rookie Matthew Golden has impressed enough to potentially push a fellow receiver out of Green Bay. 'The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie's overall athleticism has already shown up," Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer wrote. "It'll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden's development." Romeo Doubs has long been rumored as the odd man out, frequently appearing in trade speculation. Most recently, he's been linked as a possible replacement for Mike Williams on the Chargers, following Williams' unexpected retirement. 'The Green Bay Packers would undoubtedly love to keep Romeo Doubs and haven't indicated any intention to trade him, but it's time they did. Now, the perfect destination has emerged. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is surprisingly retiring from the NFL. It's a decision few saw coming, and it leaves the Chargers with a potential problem at wide receiver,' Lombardi Ave's Freddie Boston wrote. Adding more fuel to the rumors, Doubs recently posted something cryptic on Instagram, which many fans interpreted as a sign that he may know what's coming. Steelers Nation's Anthony G. Halkias II believes it could indicate frustration with his current role in Green Bay. 'The post quickly caught the attention of football fans, many of whom saw it as a sign that something might be going on behind the scenes in Green Bay. While nothing has been confirmed, the image sparked speculation that Doubs may be frustrated with his role or future with the team,' Halkias wrote. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Cryptic social media posts often signal that a player has been informed about an impending change. In Doubs' case, it seems likely he has been updated on his future with the Packers—and he might not be thrilled about it.

No bumblebees here: Steelers' new alternate uniforms honor 1933 Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Steelers are going retro. On their throwbacks. On occasion. Monday morning, the team revealed its new − or old, depending on your perspective − throwback uniform, which is a nod to the Steelers' inaugural team in 1933, when they were known as the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Steelers last sported a version of this look in 1994, when the NFL celebrated its 75th season and teams throughout the league delved into a throwback experience that became common in later years. Pittsburgh will break out the new/old uniform on October 26, a "Sunday Night Football" date at Acrisure Stadium with the Green Bay Packers. If the Steelers are fortunate, new quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also recapture his own throwback form as he attempts to defeat his original team and become only the fifth quarterback in league history to notch a win against all 32 of its teams. Aaron Rodgers and Steelers to wear 1933-style throwback uniform vs. Packers in Week 8
The Pittsburgh Steelers will debut new throwback uniforms when they host the Green Bay Packers in primetime in October this season. The Steelers unveiled the throwback uniform, inspired by the team's 1933 uniforms, on Monday. The look features yellow helmets, yellow uniforms with black striping, beige pants and yellow socks. The helmets include the Steelers logo on the side, and the uniforms have a City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder. The Packers face off with Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers on Oct. 26 at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh for Week 8's "Sunday Night Football" showdown. Per the Steelers, the throwbacks "define grit, resilience and the soul of the Steel City football." From Steelers president Art Rooney II: "We're excited to unveil our new throwback uniforms which not only pay tribute to the origins of the Steelers franchise but also to the deep connection we have to our hometown of Pittsburgh. It's especially fitting that we'll debut these uniforms on Sunday night, October 26 when we play the Green Bay Packers – another franchise in the league with a long and rich history." On one hand, the throwback uniforms will add some old-time spice to the first ever matchup between Rodgers and the Packers. On the other hand, the throwbacks will rob viewers of a near-perfect traditional uniform matchup between the Steelers and Packers. The Packers are expected to reveal a new throwback helmet and/or uniform for the 2025 regular season early on in training camp.
