Pensioner on mobility scooter critically injured in crash
Emergency services attended and the pensioner was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where staff described his condition as critical.
Sergeant Ross Allison, of Police Scotland's road policing unit, said: 'Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist to contact us.
'I would also ask any drivers with dashcam who were in the Gartlea Road area at the time to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything which may be relevant.'

Emergency personnel raced a man to hospital after he was found injured in a flat in Aberdeen. A man is in critical condition and fighting for his life after being found injured in a flat in Aberdeen. Emergency crews rushed to Skene Street in the Granite City at around 3pm on Sunday, August 3, after receiving reports that a man had been found injured. The man was raced to hospital in the city where his condition has been described as critical. Police enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 3.10pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025, police received a report a man had been found injured in Skene Street, Aberdeen. ' Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital where medical staff describe his condition as critical. 'Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.' Earlier today, in a separate incident, we reported that police are continuing to hunt the machete thugs caught brawling in an Aberdeen park in an incident which saw a man rushed to hospital and an XL Bully dog die. The force's search for the attackers is ongoing after they launched an attempted murder probe into the incident on Sunday, July 27 at around 8:30pm at Eric Hendrie Park on Deveron Road. The attack was captured on video. It shows two men fighting in the park in front of a silver car, before a masked knifeman comes into view wielding a huge blade above his head and chopping down at one of them. The masked man is rushed by another man with the XL Bully on a leash. The dog is hacked at with the machete after it attack ed the man to the ground. Several men appear and begin fighting each other as the masked man gets to his feet and runs away from the dog. The car suddenly begins to move and appears to run over one of the men as it makes its way towards the thug with the knife. A second clip shows at least 12 men running around the park. The black and white XL Bully gives chase and barks as it follows the vehicle. A man holding a blade approaches the car and appears to get inside just as it exits the park. Elderly woman hospitalised during Edinburgh far-right protest
The 64-year–old pensioner was part of a group from Stand Up To Racism, who gathered in response to the far-right Great British National Strike in the Meadows on Friday. In a clip shared by the anti-racism group, an individual can be seen throwing a placard. It is understood that the woman may have then been struck by the sign. An image shows police officers standing around her as she bleeds profusely from the head. Police Scotland confirmed she was then taken to hospital for treatment and that enquiries are ongoing. "This anti-refugee sentiment has sadly been whipped up by Starmer's 'Island of strangers' speech and the scapegoating rhetoric of far-right Reform UK. After a 250-strong rally that involved speakers from a wide spectrum of the left, anti-racists blocked the fascists from assembling, and eventually the 'master race' was forced to disappear up a side street."
