AMD's new RX 9060 XT looks set to challenge Nvidia's RTX 5060

AMD's new RX 9060 XT looks set to challenge Nvidia's RTX 5060

The Verge21-05-2025
AMD is officially announcing its Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU at Computex today. Like the number implies, this graphics card will challenge Nvidia's recently released RTX 5060, with AMD offering models with 8GB or 16GB of VRAM.
AMD is following Nvidia's controversial choice to ship a modern GPU with just 8GB of VRAM in the year 2025. The 8GB of VRAM debate has been raging for months now, particularly because of the latest games that can be very demanding on the memory side. AMD is following in Nvidia's footsteps, though, so it'll be interesting to see what reviewers make of both cards in this important part of the market.
The RX 9060 XT will ship with 32 RDNA 4 compute units, a boost clock of 3.13GHz, and support for DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b. The total board power is between 150 watts and 182 watts, depending on the model. AMD is only announcing the existence of the RTX 9060 XT today, and it hasn't supplied pricing or even a release date.
We're still waiting to hear how the RTX 5060 stacks up, because oddly, Nvidia launched its latest 50-series GPU yesterday without any reviews available. The GPU maker had reportedly prevented reviewers from obtaining the necessary driver to test the RTX 5060 ahead of the release date, presumably because it's worried about the paltry 8GB of VRAM spec.
While the 8GB of VRAM choice for both Nvidia and AMD is controversial, Nvidia has managed to spark a further wave of outrage from PC gaming YouTubers over comments it has made to Gamers Nexus. In a 22-minute video, Gamers Nexus discusses the pressure from Nvidia to include Multi Frame Generation (MFG) in benchmarks against competitor cards that don't have a similar feature. Gamers Nexus (GN) alleges that Nvidia has even implied that it would revoke access to interview Nvidia engineers unless the channel discussed MFG more.

Why Dynatrace (DT) Stock Is Trading Up Today

What Happened? Shares of application performance monitoring software provider Dynatrace (NYSE:DT) jumped 3.2% in the pre-market session after Guggenheim shifted its rating on the software intelligence company to Buy from Neutral. Guggenheim also set a new price target of $66 for the stock. The firm's analysts noted increased confidence in Dynatrace's business momentum, citing channel checks that pointed to higher usage of its Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools. This involves software that helps companies ensure their critical applications are performing well. The checks also indicated that customers were consolidating their observability tools, which are used to monitor complex IT systems, onto Dynatrace's platform. These trends were reportedly driving larger and earlier-than-expected contract renewals. The upgrade also came as Dynatrace announced major enhancements to its AI-powered observability platform, designed to help businesses better automate and analyze data from their IT, security, and business operations. After the initial pop the shares cooled down to $53.34, up 1.5% from previous close. Is now the time to buy Dynatrace? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. What Is The Market Telling Us Dynatrace's shares are not very volatile and have only had 8 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business. The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 12 months ago when the stock gained 14.9% on the news that the company reported strong second-quarter earnings. Dynatrace narrowly topped analysts' revenue and operating profit expectations during the quarter. The next quarter and full year's guidance for revenue and operating profit were both roughly in line with expectations, showing that the company is on track. Overall, this was a solid quarter for Dynatrace. Dynatrace is down 1.9% since the beginning of the year, and at $53.34 per share, it is trading 14.5% below its 52-week high of $62.42 from February 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Dynatrace's shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,252. Unless you've been living under a rock, it should be obvious by now that generative AI is going to have a huge impact on how large corporations do business. While Nvidia and AMD are trading close to all-time highs, we prefer a lesser-known (but still profitable) semiconductor stock benefiting from the rise of AI. This Former AI Underdog Might Be the Next Nvidia

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the new arms race, with investors constantly looking for the next Nvidia (NVDA). Nvidia's meteoric rise, fueled by its dominance in AI-powered GPUs, has made it the poster child for the AI boom. Valued at $351.8 billion, Palantir Technologies (PLTR) is one such contender quietly making big moves by transforming how enterprises and governments deploy AI at scale. However, it has received a mixed response in the market. Some praise its rapid growth and close ties with the government, while others question its complex business model and its durability. Nonetheless, Palantir stock is up an impressive 100% year-to-date, outperforming the broader market. Despite Palantir's impressive growth over the last few quarters, most analysts remain bearish on the stock. Let us see if the stock is still a buy regardless of the skepticism. Its platforms Gotham and Foundry combine and analyze large amounts of complex data to reveal insights. CEO Alex Karp described the company's Q1 results as an 'earnings adventure,' proving that it is no longer the misunderstood outsider in the AI and software space. Surging demand for its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP), a suite of tools that enables enterprises to deploy AI agents safely and effectively at scale, drove a 39% increase in revenue to $884 million in the first quarter. The company also reported a profit of $0.08 per share. Palantir's U.S. commercial business exceeded $1 billion in annual run rate for the first time, with 71% year-over-year (YoY) growth and 19% sequential growth. For years, critics claimed Palantir could not expand beyond government contracts or enter the commercial mainstream. However, the company has proven everyone wrong. In the first quarter alone, U.S. commercial total contract value (TCV) bookings reached $810 million, up 183% YoY. While commercial success is growing, Palantir has not lost sight of its long-standing dominance in the defense and public sectors. Q1 government revenue grew 45% YoY to $487 million, including U.S. government revenue of $373 million, up 45% YoY, and International government revenue of $114 million, also up 45% YoY. These gains were fueled by ongoing initiatives and significant new contracts. Notably, Palantir has expanded its work in healthcare and defense in the U.K., as well as formed a new partnership with NATO. The company also successfully delivered TITAN vehicles to the U.S. Army on time and within budget. Despite speculation that the U.S. government may reduce defense spending, Palantir is seeing a surge in demand for its Maven Smart System, an AI command platform, and other core programs. NATO member state have also now implemented the Maven systems. Karp emphasized, 'We are seeing rapid expansion and very significant demand for Maven both in America and outside of America.' Palantir's net dollar retention rate increased to 124% in the quarter, indicating that existing customers are significantly increasing their usage over time, an important metric for recurring revenue. Adjusted free cash flow reached $370 million in the quarter, with a target of $1.6 billion to $1.8 billion for the year. Palantir also held $5.4 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term U.S. Treasury securities. Palantir is not just growing. It is highly profitable, generating actual cash and reinvesting in AI development. The company will release its second-quarter earnings on Aug. 4. Analysts expect Palantir's revenue to be $939.3 million, slightly higher than the company's estimates and representing a 38% year-over-year increase. GAAP EPS could rise by 33%, reaching $0.08 per share. Analysts predict that the company's earnings will climb by 41.9% in 2025 and another 26.8% in 2026. This growth is reflected in its premium valuation of 256 times forward 2025 estimated earnings. However, risk-averse investors may wish to wait for a better entry point to invest with a margin of safety. What Is Wall Street Saying About Palantir Stock? Much of analysts' bearish outlook for Palantir stock stems from its overvaluation and overreliance on government contracts. Despite the company's rapid expansion in the commercial segment, William Blair analyst Louie DiPalma remains cautious. DiPalma believes Palantir's projected government-related annual recurring revenue (ARR) will exceed $150 million in the near term but cautions that a heavy reliance on government contracts and a competitive landscape create uncertainty. Overall, on Wall Street, PLTR stock is a 'Hold.' Of the 20 analysts covering the stock, three recommend a 'Strong Buy,' 13 suggest holding, one says it is a 'Moderate Sell,' and three have given it a 'Strong Sell' rating. The stock is way over its average target price of $107.23. However, the high price estimate of $160 suggests a rally of over 7.3% from current levels. The Bottom Line on PLTR Stock Palantir has everything it needs to thrive in the coming years, including strong government contracts, accelerating commercial momentum, disciplined cost management, and a game-changing AIP platform. Patient investors who can ignore the short-term noise may discover a long-term compounder in the making. Windows 11 gets new AI-powered features in latest update — here's 4 tools to try out now

Microsoft is doubling down on its AI efforts on Copilot+ PCs with its latest Windows 11 update, bringing a host of new AI features — and they're ready to try right now. The new Windows 11 update is rolling out now, and it includes a new AI agent in Windows Settings that allows users to find and change settings by describing what they need, a Relight feature in the Photos app to adjust lighting with just a click, more tools in Click To Do and a perfect screenshot feature in the Snipping Tool. There's also Copilot Vision that's now available in the U.S., featuring the Highlights tool that lets Microsoft's AI provide contextual help on specific tasks, showing you how to carry out activities within an app or browser. This will be available in the Copilot app by clicking the glasses icon. Not all Copilot+ PCs are getting these updates straightaway: Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs get these AI features first, with support on Intel and AMD devices coming down the line. Other features are set to arrive soon, including Microsoft's Copilot Vision AI being able to see your whole desktop. But for now, update your Windows 11 PC and find out what the latest Windows 11 update brings to Copilot+ PCs. Thanks to a new AI agent, you can now change settings in Windows 11 on the fly by asking what you want adjusted instead of scrolling through the Settings app. Using Windows' first agent for Copilot+ PCs, you can describe what you want to change in settings in the search box in the Settings app. This works on a range of customizable settings, including displays, connectivity and accessbility. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. For example, you can ask "change my resolution to 1920x1080" for your display, or "connect Bluetooth device" to find and connect headphones or a speaker to your PC — now all in Settings. The agent will offer recommendations and even actions to change the settings of your choice with a simple click, and there's also the option to undo any setting that's changed using the agent. To try this out yourself, follow these directions: And that's it. If the agent isn't able to understand or change the described settings, a Windows search option will pop up instead with the relevant info. Right now, this is only available on Snapdragon X Series-powered Copilot+ PCs, but Intel and AMD PCs will get this feature soon. Microsoft is also adding a new Relight feature that works in the Photos app, which aims to add professional lighting controls to snaps. It makes adjusting lighting in any photo easier, which will be helpful to anyone looking to spruce up their pictures. Relight lets you place up to 3 virtual light sources in photos, which can be placed anywhere. You can adjust the light's intensity, color and position using sliders, too, or select presets such as "Studio Portrait" and "Cinematic Glow." You can do all this by doing the following: Similar to the agent in Settings, this is only available in PCs with Snapdragon X Series CPUs for now, with Intel and AMD-equipped Copilot+ PCs getting it later. Windows 11's Click to Do on Copilot+ PCs is already available, but there are now new actions to help you get through everyday tasks aside from analyzing text and offering contextual actions. Here's a look at the features you can try out now, which can all be done by pressing Windows key + mouse click, Windows key + Q or using the Snipping Tool and selecting text. These new features on Click to Do are currently available for Windows 11 users in English, except for those in Europe. Windows 11's Snipping Tool is also getting an upgrade, this time adding two features. This includes perfect screenshot and color picker. Both options are now available as part of the latest update, with buttons added to the Snipping Tool toolbar. Perfect screenshot will automatically crop and resize what's captured on screen based on the content shown (for example, focusing on an app rather than the entire screen), while color picker can capture the color code of what's inspected. You can do each by bringing up the Snipping Tool or capturing a screenshot using the Print Screen shortcut (Windows Key + Print Screen or Windows key + Fn + Print Screen). Remember, many of these features are only available on Snapdragon X Series Copilot+ PCs right now (which are among the best laptops), with other Intel and AMD PCs getting the features soon, according to Microsoft. Once you've got the latest Windows 11 update, check them out! And be sure to try out these 15 top Windows 11 tips everyone needs to know.
