First Scottish women's wellbeing summit

Bringing together a committed and highly engaged mix of leading female professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and corporate business leaders, it's additionally been announced that the Scottish Women's Wellbeing Summit will partner Fife Women's Aid, the Glenrothes based charity which operates vital telephone support lines for women, children & young people, offers befriending services, counselling, family support, and helps women access refuge accommodation, housing, and other support services, as well as facilitating court support & advocacy.
Providing an opportunity for the female delegates to network, collaborate, and inspire, they will be able to take part in pilates and yoga wellness sessions, browsing exhibitor stalls from many of Scotland's leading wellness and leadership industries, including Love Your Lymph, who will run workshops on lymphatic drainage.
Keynote speakers, including female Fighter Pilot, Dr Jo Salter, Menopause Expert, Dr Heather Currie, writer, Kate Muir, and Scottish Mountaineer and Fitness Expert, Lee Donald, will take to the stage, both individually, and in a special Q&A Panel Session, hosted by Caroline.

With a charity auction to benefit Fife Women's Aid planned for the day, organiser and facilitator of the summit, Lesley Canis, is appealing for interested companies and individuals who may be willing to donate prizes for this auction, to get in touch. The event brings together inspirational female speakers while also providing an opportunity for women to experience a range of activities to promote wellbeing. Funds raised through the event will make a huge difference to the women, children and young people we support. We ensure that all donations are used to directly benefit those we support on their journey of recovery from domestic abuse.'
As well as inspiring delegates to succeed in the world of business, the summit will provide an opportunity for those attending to mentally and physically renew, with a series of immersive experiences, kicking off with Kundalini Yoga on the beach at 7am, followed by a Sunrise Sea Dip, Sauna with Wild Scottish Saunas, and breakfast. A Firework Ceremony will bring the day's proceedings to a close, with overnight delegates able to take advantage of additional networking in the form of a Leadership Dinner and Champagne Reception with live entertainment. Ms Peggie admitted she had a fear of the mosque being built in Kirkcaldy due to her having concerns about Sharia Law being introduced in the UK. She said did not dislike all Muslims and that her beliefs did not mean she would ever treat patients differently. The nurse, who worked for 30 years with NHS Fife, also said a number of racist jokes in a WhatsApp chat regarding flooding in Pakistan that killed nearly 2,000 people in 2022 was humour, intended to try and shock people. The nurse said she had used derogatory terms to describe people from Pakistan and China because these were common terms when she was growing up. She said people of those ethnicities that she knew were not offended when the terms had been used. MSP Mr Sarwar said: 'Those comments, if they are as attributed, are completely and utterly unacceptable. 'But we have also got to be really careful that we don't distract from the big issues that matter. 'Just because we might find these comments attributed horrific doesn't mean health boards and the Scottish Government should not comply with the Equality Act and protect single sex spaces based on biological sex. 'We can do that while also building a society that is free of prejudice of any kind, including racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, antisemitism and Islamophobia.' Anas Sarwar: Don't conflate Sandie Peggie 'racist' comments with point of tribunal
We previously told how Peggie, a nurse, allegedly told colleagues that she 'wanted to post bacon through the letterbox of a mosque' during the ongoing tribunal against NHS Fife. The Scottish Labour leader, who has publicly supported Peggie, told the Daily Record on Thursday that the comments were 'horrific'. Asked by The National if he regretted publicly supporting Peggie now the remarks had come to light, Sarwar insisted that he supported the 'primacy of the Equality Act'. She was placed on special leave after Dr Upton made an allegation of bullying and harassment, and cited concerns about 'patient care'. Peggie then lodged a claim against NHS Fife and Dr Upton, citing the Equality Act 2010, including sexual harassment; harassment related to a protected belief; indirect discrimination; and victimisation. And now FWS, which took the case regarding the definition of a woman as 'biological sex' to the UK's highest court, have announced they have been granted permission to intervene in the ongoing tribunal. Correspondence with the tribunal services was posted by the group on their website, and confirmed there had been no objections to their intervention. It reads: 'Your email and letter of 25th and 28th of July 2025 were considered by the Tribunal, and the parties were offered an opportunity to comment. 'The claimant has no objection to your application under rule 36, and the respondents did not on the understanding that the intervention was purely to be in that written form.' It added that FWS was given permission to intervene via a written letter. 'The Tribunal is not in a position to comment on the matters you raise until all submissions have been made by the parties, with those in written form and laterally orally on 1 and 2 September.' FWS also published their submission where they raised 'concerns' about three exchanges that had taken place during the tribunal so far. The first where Jane Russell KC, for NHS Fife, said that the Supreme Court judgment is an 'abstract case regarding representation on public boards in Scotland does not concern toilets etc'. Another where the KC said Dr Upton 'is not a man, she is a transwoman', and added that she did not agree with the summary of FWS, and the third which was in a similar vein. They added: 'In the second and third exchanges, Ms Cunningham was factually correct in her statement that Dr Upton is a man under the Equality Act in accordance with the For Women Scotland ruling by the Supreme Court. 'This should not be a point in dispute by the court, nor regarded as contentious or a hypothesis to be tested.'
