Primetime 585 Shining Star: Brynna Wilkinson
At the young age of 12, Wilkinson has proven herself to be a promising athlete, playing at the varsity level for the school's soccer team and running track.
Having just begun her varsity career in seventh grade, Wilkinson has achieved 13 goals and 5 assists during the soccer season, helping her team become the LCAA D1 champions, Section V Class B champions, Far West Regional champions, and participate in the New York State Final Four.
Without experience running track before, she joined the indoor team this winter and broke the school's record in the 1000-meter run during the RWTL Championship meet. Wilkinson is also credited with clocking the fastest time in the nation for a seventh grader during the season with a time of 3:10:48 before going on to win a sectional title in the 4×800 relay.
She continued with track this spring, breaking another school record running the steeplechase for her first time, an impressive feat to achieve as a middle schooler. A sectional title in the same event followed Wilkson's run. That night, she also took home first place in the 800 and second place in the 1500.
Outside of her athletic achievements in high school sports, Wilkinson plays for the Western New York Flash, NYW ODP, and Gaffer City Woman's FC teams.
Most recently, she was named Play of the Match in her first game with the Gaffer City Woman's FC after she scored two goals, one of which was a header. This accomplishment makes her the youngest goal scorer in UPSL W history.

Euro 2025: Wales feels call of history to beat England and eliminate defending champ
ST. GALLEN, Switzerland (AP) — In a game of soccer or any sport, Wales always wants to beat England. At the Women's European Championship on Sunday, Wales can eliminate the defending champion English just with a draw in the final round of Group D games. Group leader France plays the third-placed Netherlands at the same time. 'As a Welsh woman, do you want to knock England out? Of course you do,' captain Angharad James said on Saturday. 'It's in our blood, it's in our DNA. 'There's no hiding behind the history of Wales versus England, whatever sport you are playing in. It's a rivalry match.' Wales, like all of England's neighbors in the United Kingdom, takes extra satisfaction in those sporting victories, with its longest tradition being in men's rugby. It makes sense to Wales coach Rhian Wilkinson, a former Canada international player whose mother is Welsh. 'As a Canadian next to the U.S. I can understand big rivalries,' Wilkinson said. 'This will only benefit the women's game.' France tops the group with six points, England and the Netherlands have three and Wales is on zero after back-to-back big losses. Wales has never beaten England in 10 previous meetings and has only the longest of shots to finish second in the standings with a first victory on Sunday. Its more likely role is blocking England's path to the quarterfinals. England can rise above France and finish top, yet also could secure second place — and a quarterfinal against Sweden — with a win, draw or even a loss. 'My women,' Wales coach Wilkinson said, 'get to show up and spoil the party and that's a wonderful job to have.' Welsh hearts and souls will be on display when its anthem is sung rousingly before kickoff in the stadium at St. Gallen, though England defender Alex Greenwood said her own team and fans should not be underestimated. 'If you want to speak about passion I think the English are very, very passionate people,' Greenwood said. 'The atmosphere is going to be great and something we should all look forward to.' ___

Euro 2025: Wales team bus involved in road traffic crash en route to practice
ST. GALLEN, Switzerland (AP) — The Wales team bus was involved in a road traffic crash on Tuesday and its training session was canceled at the stadium where it plays France at the Women's European Championship. The Welsh Football Association said in a statement all the people involved — players and staff on the bus and in the other vehicle — were unharmed in the incident en route to the stadium in St. Gallen. 'Football is secondary and I think, yes, we are shaken because we are away from the team right now knowing that they've had to experience that,' Wilkinson said in comments reported by the BBC. FAW said its priority "has been to remove the players from the scene and return to the Cymru training base to complete their preparations for tomorrow's match.' Wales plays France in the second Group D game for both at Euro 2025. Wales lost to the Netherlands 3-0 on Saturday and France beat defending champion England 2-1.
