Noah Lyles' long-awaited race with Tyreek Hill canceled over mysterious ‘personal reasons'

New York Post16-06-2025
Noah Lyles has shared new details on why his race with Tyreek Hill never happened.
At the Sport Beach event in Cannes, France, Monday, the Olympic gold medalist revealed that the showdown with the NFL speedster was supposed to have happened this weekend in Times Square, but it fell through due to 'complications' and 'personal reasons.'
'We were very deep into creating the event. In fact, it was supposed to happen this weekend,' Lyles said. 'Unfortunately there were some things, complications, personal reasons that it just didn't come to pass, but we were full on.
'We were gonna have a big event, we were going to shut down New York Times Square and everything, we were gonna have all the billboards for the event, it was going to be a lot of fun.'
Lyles, an American sprinter who competes in the 60-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter dash, won gold at the 2024 Olympics in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 9.784.
He's widely considered the fastest man in the world, but that hasn't stopped Hill from claiming he could beat Lyles in a race.

There has been plenty of trash talk between the two over the past year about a potential race — and Lyles was adamant that it was going to happen, even if people doubted it would.
'A lot of people didn't believe it to be true. They thought it was just, 'Oh, this is just them talking online,'' Lyles said. 'We had to bring it to fruition.'
Lyles said both the general public and potential corporate sponsors 'didn't believe it was real,' but that he took charge in an effort to make it happen.
'It's like, 'Don't worry, I'll take care of this. I know what to do. And it's not going to look to the point where it's staged. It's going to look right on the money, trust me,'' Lyles said.
Even though the logistics for the event never fell into place, Hill is still challenging Lyles to a race.

The Dolphins wide receiver ran a 10.15 100-meter dash at the Last Chance Sprint Series on Friday, holding up a sign afterwards that read, 'Noah could never.'
Lyles, of course, has proven that he can, with his 9.784 time at the 2024 Games in Paris.
The exact complications and personal reasons for why the race never occurred are unclear.
Hill was reportedly involved in a domestic disturbance with his ex-wife, Keeta, in April.
Hill has a track record of off-field issues, which includes a domestic assault conviction in 2015 and a child abuse investigation in 2019.

🎥 Sunday to remember Sepúlveda's stunning goal

Angel Sepulveda or, better said, the "Angel of the Goal", as he is aptly called at Cruz Azul, is experiencing one of his best moments as a footballer. To prove this, it's enough to remember the amazing goal he scored in the match against León. "A goal to take your hat off to, it was a beautiful chest control and the use of the bicycle kick, especially considering how precise the shot turned out to be, leaves me very happy with the version of the forward we have", said Nicolás Larcamón. The attacker remains the leading scorer with three dates in the Apertura 2025, with four goals. In addition to consolidating himself as the top scorer of this year's Concacf Champions Cup. Jaxson Dart looks more at home in best Giants training camp day yet

Jaxson Dart looked the part. The rookie first-round quarterback had his best day on an NFL field so far Sunday as he was accurate and aggressive down the field — a noticeable change from holding the ball too long when he wasn't getting off short, quick passes. 'I can definitely feel a difference in the first day [last Wednesday] to even today,' Dart said. 'Just that the game's starting to slow down a little bit the more that I get comfortable with the plays and the system.' Dart is adjusting to running first-time plays and mixing in with different receivers — all of whom require different timing. 'I felt confident in the different installs that we had [Sunday], and I felt at the same time the coaches gave me a lot of freedom,' Dart said. 'So I was able to make some checks that I wanted to, and I feel like that just allowed me to play just faster and be able to make quicker decisions.' Dart led a 12-play move-the-field drive that included a third-down completion and a couple of designed quarterback runs. Perhaps most significantly, he used a hard count — after clapping his hands to get the ball at Ole Miss — to draw the defense offside. 3 Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart (6) looks to throw during Training Camp at the Quest Diagnostics center, Sunday, July 27, 2025, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST 'I don't want to play like a robot,' Dart said. 'I think that's just my play style. When I'm on the field, I'm going to be aggressive in any situation. A quote that we go by in the quarterback room is, 'Being aggressive but not reckless.' So, when you have opportunities to put the dagger in, that's what you have to do. And, at the same time, you can't be reckless.' Dart's philosophy during training camp is to get the mistakes out on the practice field and don't make the same error twice. It sounds like an extension of head coach Brian Daboll's philosophy. 3 Jaxson Dart (6) looks on during Training Camp at the Quest Diagnostics center, Sunday, July 27, 2025. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST 'Just trying to take advantage of the opportunities that I get. Trying to study late as much as I can,' Dart said. 'I'm learning every second.' John Michael Schmitz's trio of errant snaps in Friday's practice were a red flag. His best chance to atone comes Monday, when linemen put on pads for the first time. 3 Michael Schmitz Jr. (61) on the field during training camp. Daboll lauded Brian Burns for his chase-the-ball hustle on the play that led to a collision with Wan'Dale Robinson in Friday's practice. Burns only participated in limited drills Sunday while dealing with soreness. 'He's had a number of those this camp,' Daboll said. 'His effort has been outstanding.'
