TV legend Bert Newton's grandsons follow in his footsteps
TV legend Bert Newton's daughter, Lauren, revealed her sons, Monty, 9, and Alby, 4, have just wrapped filming on a TV commercial — adding to the beginnings of a career in front of the cameras.
Melbourne talent agency Centrestage Agency posted a picture of the budding actors on Instagram.
'Congratulations to brothers Monty and Alby who spent the day together on set filming an exciting commercial,' the caption reads.
Proud mum Lauren reshared the picture on her own Instagram account, which was flooded with congratulations from her followers.
'Well done boys! You look great!' said one comment.
'So much talent in the family,' posted another.
A legend of Australian film, television and stage, Bert Newton died on October 30, 2021, aged 83, after suffering serious medical issues following a leg amputation.
Over his 70-year career Newton won four Gold Logies and was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame.
Throughout his stellar entertainment career, wife Patti was by his side.
The couple tied the knot in 1974 after meeting through work and had two children, Matthew and Lauren.
Lauren now has six children with her husband, Olympic champion Matt Welsh — Sam, Eva, Lola, Monty, Perla and Alby.
For Monty's ninth birthday, Lauren shared a sweet picture of Patti with her grandchildren after an appearance on The Morning Show.
'He is so special and incredibly talented' Lauren wrote of Monty at the time.
'I love that he is so calm and happy even when his little brother is trying to eat his hair on live TV.
'Poppy always predicted big things for Monty and he was absolutely right.'
The new commercial adds to Monty's list of TV appearances, which already includes a starring role in a Difflam commercial for Chemist Warehouse.
Lauren has spoken of the influence her father on her life, and shared an emotional tribute at his funeral in 2021.
'When I was a little girl, I always felt I was so lucky. I had two dads, one on TV, and one at home,' Lauren said.
'He was the same funny, warm, wonderful person everyone watched on TV but, at home, he was even better.'
