TV legend Bert Newton's grandsons follow in his footsteps
TV legend Bert Newton's daughter, Lauren, revealed her sons, Monty, 9, and Alby, 4, have just wrapped filming on a TV commercial — adding to the beginnings of a career in front of the cameras.
Melbourne talent agency Centrestage Agency posted a picture of the budding actors on Instagram.
'Congratulations to brothers Monty and Alby who spent the day together on set filming an exciting commercial,' the caption reads.
Proud mum Lauren reshared the picture on her own Instagram account, which was flooded with congratulations from her followers.
'Well done boys! You look great!' said one comment.
'So much talent in the family,' posted another.
A legend of Australian film, television and stage, Bert Newton died on October 30, 2021, aged 83, after suffering serious medical issues following a leg amputation.
Over his 70-year career Newton won four Gold Logies and was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame.
Throughout his stellar entertainment career, wife Patti was by his side.
The couple tied the knot in 1974 after meeting through work and had two children, Matthew and Lauren.
Lauren now has six children with her husband, Olympic champion Matt Welsh — Sam, Eva, Lola, Monty, Perla and Alby.
For Monty's ninth birthday, Lauren shared a sweet picture of Patti with her grandchildren after an appearance on The Morning Show.
'He is so special and incredibly talented' Lauren wrote of Monty at the time.
'I love that he is so calm and happy even when his little brother is trying to eat his hair on live TV.
'Poppy always predicted big things for Monty and he was absolutely right.'
The new commercial adds to Monty's list of TV appearances, which already includes a starring role in a Difflam commercial for Chemist Warehouse.
Lauren has spoken of the influence her father on her life, and shared an emotional tribute at his funeral in 2021.
'When I was a little girl, I always felt I was so lucky. I had two dads, one on TV, and one at home,' Lauren said.
'He was the same funny, warm, wonderful person everyone watched on TV but, at home, he was even better.'

Influencer breaks spine after stiletto challenge goes wrong
An influencer has broken her spine after attempting the viral 'stiletto challenge' inspired by Nicki Minaj. Mariana Barutkina, 32, attempted the challenge on a kitchen counter top, balancing on top of a jar of baby food stacked on a saucepan while wearing stilettos. The challenge is inspired by Nicki Minaj's famous pose in the music video of her song High School. In the video, the rapper is crouching in stilettos next to a swimming pool with one leg crossed over the top of the other, miraculously balancing. Ms Barutkina, from Yekaterinburg in Russia, had given birth just eight weeks before she attempted the challenge. Video footage of the accident went viral, showing her try the stunt before falling backwards off a kitchen counter-top and toppling to the ground. The accident caused a compression flexion fracture in her spine, The Sun reported. 'I decided to start a blog, my first content shoot — and here I am leaving the doctor's with a diagnosis,' Ms Barutkina wrote on Instagram. 'Irony? Karma? Or just life, which always tests our strength at the most unexpected moment.' The accident sparked outrage on social media, with many taking aim at her intelligence. 'I'm sorry, of course, but what do people have in their heads who repeat this trash? Which is immediately visible that it is dangerous to health! I wish you a speedy recovery!' one Instagram user commented. 'Well, you're all like teenagers climbing street signs, kindergarten,' another wrote. 'And she looked like an adult,' another user wrote. Other fans wished her a quick and easy recovery. 'Wishing you a speedy recovery,' one user wrote. Ms Barutkina took aim at social media users who questioned her fitness as a mother in a recent post addressing the attention her video gathered. 'Whoever worries about my child should also be calm, he has two nannies and while I was filming one of them was with him,' she wrote. Some fans are calling for the trend to end, saying no one can beat Ms Barutkina. 'Get well soon, you can close the trend no one will beat you,' one Instagram user commented.

Jelena Dokic's partner Yane Veselinov shares cryptic social media post after tennis star's gushing Logies speech calling Todd Woodbridge 'my person' set tongues wagging
Jelena Dokic's boyfriend Yane Veselinov has shared a cryptic new social media post days after his famous partner's emotional Logies acceptance speech. Dokic won the Silver Logie for Best Factual or Documentary Program for Unbreakable: The Jelena Dokic Story during Australian TV's night of nights at The Star in Sydney. The retired tennis star hit the red carpet solo at the Logies despite recently going public with Veselinov, a Melbourne-based hospitality relations manager. On Tuesday, Veselinov returned to social media for the first time since the glitzy awards night and shared a picture of a stunning Melbourne sunrise with the caption 'Good morning Melbs'. Veselinov describes himself on Instagram as a "food and wine enthusiast, pleasure seeker and life enjoyer". In her Logies speech, Dokic made an emotional tribute to her close friend and fellow tennis great Todd Woodbridge, but made no mention of her partner. "Todd Woodbridge, I don't know where you are, there," she said, scanning the crowd. "Todd. You're my person. "I say that, and this makes me cry so much because I sat down with you on the table 11 years ago when I retired, and you said to me that I can be a commentator and speaker and bring my story to life.' Woodbridge, 54, appeared to wipe away a tear following Dokic's sweet tribute. Dokic described herself as "a person who couldn't string two sentences together, look people in the eye, had no social skills left", and credited Woodbridge with giving her the belief to rebuild. "You were the only one who believed in me, especially professionally," she said. "Thank you for that. I always say to everyone, 'Be someone's Todd', and I hope that everyone finds a Todd like I did." Dokic confirmed her relationship with Veselinov last month after published bombshell footage of the pair getting cosy at Melbourne Airport. "You are my calm, safe, peaceful and happy place. So glad I found you," Dokic wrote alongside a romantic snap with her new partner. Dokic split from her previous partner Tin Bukic in late 2022 after an almost two-decade-long relationship. She recently opened up on the Mental As Anyone podcast about how the demise of her relationship jeopardised her plans to start a family. 'I was in a relationship for almost 19 years from the age of 20, and right when we split up, we were about to start trying for a family,' Jelena said.
