NY Ex-Rep. Jamaal Bowman launches Super PAC to defeat pro-Israel pols ‘from Yonkers to Gaza'

Yahoo02-03-2025
Israel-bashing former New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman is creating a Super PAC aimed at ousting pro-Israel candidates.
'From Yonkers to Gaza and everywhere in between, we will fight for justice and reclaim our humanity,' says the new 'Built to Win' Super Pac pushed by Bowman, who was ousted in a Democratic primary last year in large part because of his anti-Israel stance.
Bowman was even more explicit about his new PAC's anti-Israel mission during a recent interview.
'Any candidate that supports [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu and genocide more than their constituents, any candidate that's tied up with corrupt crypto money, any candidate tied up with the real-estate lobby as opposed to renters, we're going to go after those candidates very aggressively,' Bowman told City & State.
Former Westchester County Executive George Latimer, a pro-Israel moderate, trounced Bowman by more than 10 percentage points in the past Democratic primary for the 16th House District that takes in much of Westchester County and portions of The Bronx.
Rabbi Jonathan Morgenstern, Jewish leader in Westchester, told The Post that Bowman again is showing his 'true colors.
'Bowman is a true, authentic antisemite,' said Morgenstern, head of Young Israel of Scarsdale, a modern orthodox synagogue.
'The [super PAC] shows his true colors. He's tripling down on attacking the Jewish people and the only Jewish state. It's disturbing and sad.'
Liora Rez, a founder the watchdog group StopAntisemitism, said, 'Even if someone wanted to get more antisemitic, anti-Israel candidates elected, it's hard to imagine they'd give their money to a failure like Jamaal Bowman.
'He already wasted the money that was donated to his own losing campaign,' Rez said.
'Americans overwhelmingly stand with Israel and the Jewish people who have been a contributing and vital part of this great nation since the founding.'
New York State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs said, 'Former Rep. Bowman would be better to devote his new PAC to helping underserved people in our communities as well as promoting the economic interests of working class Americans instead of continuing his antisemitic, pro-terrorist advocacy in a pitiful attempt to retain even a drop of political relevance.'
Rory Lancman, a Jewish civil-rights lawyer and former Queens councilman, added, 'Last year, voters across the country said loud and clear that America stands with Israel and against anti-Semitism and terrorism, and they said it especially loudly to Jamaal Bowman.'
He noted that Bowman announced the formation of his political action committee days after the Palestinian terror group Hamas held a propaganda-filled parade as they handed over the bodies of tiny slain Israeli hostages Kfir and Ariel Bibas, who were just 9 months and 4 years old when they were violently abducted, along with the remains of their mother Shiri.
That's 'all you need to know about Bowman's, and his PAC's, values — and, frankly, its prospects,' Lancman said.
Latimer's coalition of backes included voters turned off by Bowman's criticism of Israel in its war against Hamas in Gaza after the terrorist group's Oct. 7, 2023, attack on the Jewish state.
His well-funded backers included the United Democracy Project, a super PAC affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that spent a staggering $14 million in the race, and a cryptocurrency group called Fair Shake that bankrolled another $2 million worth of ad spots.
Bowman accused Israel of committing 'genocide' in Gaza and belatedly apologized for denying the horrific rapes of Israeli women during the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that killed an estimated 1,200 people — including 33 Americans.
The weekend before the primary vote, Bowman vowed to 'show f–king AIPAC the power of the motherf–king South Bronx' during a manic rally alongside fellow 'Squad' Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York City.
In Bowman's concession speech, he doubled down on his stance, telling supporters: 'We will continue to fight for a free Palestine, and God help us that we live in a better world where when we say, 'Free Palestine,' it is not antisemitic.'
But even some black activists said the Super Pac won't revive Bowman's career.
'Jamaal Bowman's loss wasn't about Israel—it was about his complete failure to represent the priorities of the Black community,' said Darius Jones, senior adviser to National Black Empowerment Action Fun, in a statement. 'Voters rejected him because he championed an extreme agenda that ignored their real concerns.
'You can't oppose public safety in Black neighborhoods, deny Black families access to quality education through school choice, and neglect infrastructure and small business investment in Black communities while expecting Black support,' Jones said. 'That's why he lost—plain and simple.'

Trump moves to lift visa restrictions for Argentina in boost to right-wing ally

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — The United States and Argentina on Monday announced that they are working on a plan to allow Argentine tourists to again travel to the U.S. without a visa. It will likely take two to three years before visa-free travel becomes a reality for Argentine passport holders, but the signing of a preliminary agreement Monday marked a show of support by the Trump administration for President Javier Milei, its staunchest ally in South America and a darling of conservatives around the world. The move coincided with a visit by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to Buenos Aires for closed-door meetings with President Milei and his officials. Noem signed the statement of intent alongside Security Minister Patricia Bullrich in Milei's office. The Department of Homeland Security praised Milei in a statement for reshaping Argentina's foreign policy in line with the U.S. 'Under President Javier Milei's leadership, Argentina is becoming an even stronger friend to the United States — more committed than ever to border security for both of our nations,' the statement quoted Noem as saying, adding that this first step toward Argentina's entry into the Visa Wavier Program 'highlights our strong partnership with Argentina and our mutual desire to promote lawful travel while deterring threats.' The department cited Argentina as having the lowest visa overstay rate in the U.S. of any Latin American country. Trump's loyal ally in South America The removal of rigorous U.S. visa restrictions — particularly at a time when President Donald Trump is tightening restrictions for foreign nationals — would mark a symbolic victory for Milei, a self-described 'anarcho-capitalist' who rose to power as a far-right outsider mimicking Trump's war-on-woke rhetoric and skillful use of social media. When he became the first world leader to visit Trump after the U.S. election, Milei pranced around Mar-a-Lago like an excited school boy. At the Conservative Political Action Committee convention in Washington last February, he gifted billionaire Elon Musk a bureaucracy-slashing chainsaw to support his DOGE campaign to eliminate government waste. When not riding the far-right, pro-Trump speaking circuit, Milei is focused on straightening out South America's second-largest economy after years of economic turmoil under left-wing populist rule. Through tough budget cuts and mass layoffs, Milei has succeeded in driving down Argentina's notorious double-digit inflation. The last time Argentines didn't require a visa to enter the U.S. was in the 1990s when another free-market devotee, President Carlos Menem, was in power. Menem's neo-liberal reforms and pegging of the peso 1-to-1 to the U.S. dollar destroyed Argentina's industry, exacerbating poverty in what a century ago was one of the world's wealthiest countries. In the economic crisis that followed, the U.S. reimposed visa restrictions in 2002 as young Argentines looking to flee misery lined up at European embassies and stated to migrate illegally to the U.S. The Argentine presidency described the signing on Monday as a 'clear demonstration of the excellent relationship' between Milei and Trump. 'This bilateral link is not limited to the commercial or economic sphere, but constitutes a strategic and comprehensive relationship based on a shared vision,' it added. Tough limits on travel to Trump's America Over 40 mostly European and wealthy Asian countries belong to the exclusive club that allows their citizens to travel to the U.S. without a visa for up to three months. However, border officers have the power to turn anyone away. About 20 million tourists use the program each year. Currently, Chile is the only Latin American country in the program. Overseas travel to the U.S. plunged in the early days of Trump's return to the White House as tourists, especially from Latin America, feared being caught in the administration's border crackdown. Some canceled travel plans to protest his foreign policy and anti-immigrant rhetoric. But those numbers started to rebound in April, with more than 3 million international arrivals — 8% more than a year ago — from countries other than Mexico or Canada, according to the International Trade Administration, an agency under the U.S. Department of Commerce. In addition to clamping down on the border, Trump has put up additional obstacles for students, tourists and others looking to travel to the U.S. His recently passed 'big, beautiful' bill of domestic priorities calls for the enactment of a new 'visa integrity fee' of $250 to be charged in addition to the cost of the visa itself. Travel industry executives have expressed concern that it could drive away tourists who contribute more than $2 trillion annually and 9 million jobs to the U.S. economy, according to the International Trade Administration. About a quarter of all travelers to the U.S. come from Latin America and the Caribbean, the agency says. Arrivals from Argentina have jumped 25% this year — a bigger increase than from any other country.

Hamas-cheering Irish band Kneecap to play pair of sold out rooftop shows in NYC

Israel-hating Irish rap group Kneecap, which is facing terrorism charges for brandishing a Hezbollah flag and praising Hamas at a show in London last year, will play a pair of sold-out shows in New York this October. The controversial Belfast-based group is known for spewing hateful pro-terrorist propaganda from the stage, including openly supporting the 'Palestinian struggle' a day after the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas massacre in Israel and performing in front of a backdrop that read 'F–k Israel Free Palestine.' 3 Kneecap is known for spewing vile anti-Israel rhetoric from the stage. Scott A Garfitt/Invision/AP Advertisement Kneecap member Mo Chara, whose real name is Liam O'Hanna, was charged under the Terrorism Act in Britain last month for waving the flag of the banned group while allegedly saying 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah.' At a court hearing in London in June, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the court, hoisting signs that read 'Defend Kneecap' and 'Drop the Charges.' 3 Kneecap rapper Mo Chara — real name Liam O'Hanna — is facing terrorism charges in London for brandishing the flag of Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah. @AJCGlobal/X Advertisement The band has defended their actions, saying, 'We deny this 'offense' and will vehemently defend ourselves,' describing the charge against the rapper as an attempt to silence them. 3 The group has accused Israel of committing 'genocide' from the stage and slammed the US for supporting the Jewish state. Getty Images Prosecutor Michael Bisgrove said the rapper is 'well within his rights' to support the Palestinians, but not to defy a law that criminalizes displaying signs or banners that give a reasonable suspicion of supporting a known terror group, according to the BBC. Chara has also accused Israel of committing 'genocide' in Gaza and hit out at the US for its support of the Jewish state. Advertisement 'They're bombing them from the skies. If you're not calling it a genocide, what the f–k are you calling it?' he said to raucous cheers on stage while a screen behind the band read, 'The US government arms and funds Israel despite their war crimes.' The group will be performing at The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Oct. 1 and 10.

'Children look very hungry': Trump rejects Netanyahu's claim of no starvation in Gaza

WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump said he disagrees with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's claim that no starvation is taking place among the people of Gaza. "Based on television, I would say not particularly, because those children look very hungry," Trump said July 28 when asked by a reporter whether he agrees with Netanyahu's assessment. "But we're giving a lot of money and a lot of food, and other nations are now stepping up." Trump made the remarks ahead of a bilateral meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Turnberry, Scotland, where the second-term U.S. president arrived July 25 for a four-day trip. More: One meal a day. $20 for an egg. Choosing which kid gets fed. Starvation stalks Gaza As images of emaciated children in Gaza have alarmed the world, Netanyahu denied Israel is conducting a starvation campaign, calling such accusations a "bold-faced lie" and even rejecting that starvation is occurring. 'There is no policy of starvation in Gaza and there is no starvation in Gaza," Netanyahu said July 27. More: Israel pauses some military action in Gaza as starvation spreads: What to know The Gaza health ministry said July 28 that at least 14 people had died in the past 24 hours of starvation and malnutrition, bringing the war's death toll from hunger to 147, including 89 children, most of them in just the last few weeks. To help get additional food into Gaza, Israel on July 27 announced a halt in military operations for 10 hours a day in parts of Gaza and new aid corridors as Jordan and the United Arab Emirates airdropped supplies into the enclave. Trump, speaking alongside Starmer at his golf resort, said the United States had provided $60 million for humanitarian aid, and other nations would have to step up. Trump said he discussed the Gaza conflict with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on July 27, and she told him European countries would ramp up their assistance. Starmer called the mounting starvation in Gaza a "humanitarian crisis" and an "absolute catastrophe," adding that "the people in Britain are revolted by what they're seeing on their screens." More: More than 100 aid, rights groups call for action as hunger spreads in Gaza Israel cut off all supplies to Gaza from the start of March and reopened the territory with new restrictions in May. Israel says it abides by international law but must prevent aid from being diverted by militants, and it blames Hamas for the suffering of Gaza's people. "You have a lot of starving people," Trump said, later criticizing the Hamas militant group for not agreeing to release more Israeli hostages, living and dead. Trump said he told Netanyahu that Israel's approach would likely have to change. "I told Bibi that you have to maybe do it a different way."
