Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: 'The level doesn't matter as long as I get on the pitch and play football.
'I have had clubs ringing me up, higher leagues, but it has to be the right fit and I need to be in control of what I want to do and not go somewhere because it is higher or there is more money involved.
'I know what will suit me and this is something I believe can be fantastic. There is a project in place, getting them back out of non-league and up the leagues. It is just a great place to be.'
As well as playing for Liverpool and Newcastle, Carroll has had spells with West Ham, Reading and West Brom and spent the last two seasons in France, first with Amiens and then Bordeaux.
He continued: 'I have more excitement now than I ever have. I just love playing football and showing everyone I am playing for the love of football, rather than the money or level. It is something I want to do and I am lucky that I can continue to do that.'

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also reports that Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League, which seriously narrows down his options in the transfer market. Serie A champions Napoli have long been keen on Garnacho, making a move for him in January and doing so again this summer, but the player would rather not go to Italy. Chelsea have been linked with a move for Garnacho all summer and if he is to get his wish to stay in England then Stamford Bridge now appears to be by far the most realistic destination. The Telegraph reported last month that the clubs were exploring a swap deal which would take Garnacho to west London and Christopher Nkunku move to Old Trafford. The French forward has had an underwhelming spell with the Blues since signing from RB Leipzig – not helped by serious injury in his first season – and Chelsea are willing to sell him. Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been credited with an interest in Nkunku, and there remains a possibility that a deal could be done with the Red Devils. Having previously wanted around £60m for Garnacho, the Mirror reported last month that Manchester United have dropped the asking price as they look to get a deal done. An offer of closer to £40m may be enough to secure his signature, although clearly if a swap deal can be done then that would drop still further. While Garnacho featured regularly under manager Ruben Amorim last season, the campaign ended on a sour note as he complained about his role off the bench in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. 'There were a lot of things missing – when you don't score goals, you always need more at the end,' Garnacho told the Argentine media after the 1-0 loss. 'I played every round until we reached the final, I helped the team, and to play twenty minutes today… I don't know.' Asked about his team selection for the clash with Spurs, Amorim named Garnacho as someone who made a mistake by missing a great chance against Athletic Bilbao earlier in the competition. The cast and circumstances are different, but the brewing tension between Ruben Amorim and Alejandro Garnacho is already drawing parallels with another ugly stand-off that engulfed the club not long ago. Jadon Sancho's very public falling out with Erik ten Hag in August 2023 signalled the end of his time at the club – even if United are still scrambling to remove him from their books. The former Borussia Dortmund winger was accused of failing to meet the required standards in training – something Garnacho is certainly not guilty of with Amorim praising the Argentine for his determination and eagerness to adapt to his methods earlier this year. But openly challenging his manager's decisions is a rotten look. We will never know what might have happened had Garnacho started against Tottenham but the winger has been as guilty as anyone of missing big chances this season. Arguing he has played every round of the knockout stages leading to the final is a valid one – but just one goal in the Europa League this season suggests Amorim's decision had its own merits. Garnacho can and should be doing more, something he and his brother may have overlooked as the red mist descended last night. The bigger picture is Garnacho has openly defied his manager at a moment where the club is reeling, staggering towards the end of a disastrous season that has broken records in mediocrity. United cannot afford to let the tension draw out like it did between Sancho and ten Hag. And with the club desperate to raise additional funds in the summer transfer window, one of their tougher decisions may have just got a little easier. Ben Stokes' X-rated reaction after suffering painful injury in England vs India
Ben Stokes suffered every batter's nightmare when he was struck by a fast ball from Mohammed Siraj during the fourth day of the third Test match against India at Lord's England captain Ben Stokes left viewers in no doubt about where the ball had hit him after taking a nasty blow against India. Stokes was batting with Joe Root for the home side in the third Test match against India at Lord's on Sunday when a ball from Mohammed Siraj hurt him. The match has been played with a feisty edge, with Zak Crawley getting some abuse from the Indian team at the end of day three on Saturday following some obvious time wasting. That edge continued on day four, with Siraj giving Ben Duckett a send-off after dismissing him in the first session. But there was a lighter tone after Siraj nipped the ball back into Stokes, hitting him in the nether regions. 'Ohhhh, in the d***, in the d***, in the d***' Stokes said as he crumpled to the floor. The England skipper then lay down on the pitch for some time, waiting for the pain of being hit in the box to subside. Siraj walked down to enquire politely if he was alright, while Root was seen with a big grin on his face. The moment was greatly enjoyed by those commentating too. 'Attempted pull shot,' Stokes' former team-mate Stuart Broad said on commentary for Sky Sports before laughing at his reaction. 'I shouldn't laugh, that's painful.' As the camera from the stumps showed Stokes prone on the ground, he added: 'That's interesting footage from there.' With the over from Siraj at a close, ex-England captain Nasser Hussain then joked: 'No balls left in the over.' And as the replay was shown on the big screen at Lord's, the crowd collectively groaned. Commentating on BBC 's Test Match Special, Simon Mann said: 'Was that bullseye? Everyone laughs apart from you. Excruciating pain. Ah he's OK – he's at the non-strikers' end." The painful moment came from the final ball of Siraj's over, giving Stokes time to recover, with Root facing the next ball from the other end. It happened with England on 115/4 at the end of the 29th over of the day. Having started on 2-0, it was definitely India's morning, with four wickets going down in the first session. Duckett hit a pull shot straight to mid-on to depart for 12 before Ollie Pope's second-innings struggles continued as he was pinned lbw by Siraj for four. Crawley was caught in the gully playing an expansive drive off Nitish Kumar Reddy for 22 before Harry Brook was bowled trying to sweep Akash Deep on the stroke of lunch. Stokes and Root then came together to try and settle things down, knowing they need to bat time in order to post a decent score, with the series on the line at 1-1.

Preston vs Liverpool LIVE: Reds feature for first time since Diogo Jota's death as both clubs pay tribute
LIVERPOOL will take to the pitch this afternoon for the first time since Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva tragically died in a car crash in Spain 10 days ago. The brothers will be commemorated with touching tributes from the two clubs. Before kick-off, there will be a rendition of Liverpool's anthem You'll Never Walk Alone and Preston will lay a wreath alongside the away supporters. A minute's silence will be observed in memory of Diogo and Andre, while digital tributes will be displayed on the screen and across pitchside LEDs - and both sets of players will wear black armbands during the match. Preston are also offering a free 16-page matchday programme dedicated to the late brothers to all supporters with a matchday ticket. Heartbroken Liverpool players returned for pre-season training on Tuesday after the majority of stars attended Jota's funeral in Portugal last weekend.
