Businesswoman mystery remains after greedy lover pretended she was alive for five years
Donald Graham killed well-off partner Janet Brown to get to her money, fooling detectives into believing she was still alive, but her body has not been found.
The mystery surrounding the murder of a wealthy businesswoman by her married boyfriend remains as police are yet to find her body two decades later.
Donald Graham murdered his property developer and TV extra partner Janet Brown, 45, to get his hands on her money and managed to fool detectives into believing she was still alive five years after taking her life.
His lies meant cops failed to probe her disappearance until it was too late, the Mirror reports.
Graham was eventually jailed for life for Janet's murder, in what's thought to be Northumbria Police's only conviction without a body.
The killer has maintained his innocence and refused to admit how he killed Janet, of Hexham, Northumberland, or the whereabouts of her body.
It is now two decades since Janet vanished without a trace.
Campaigner Marie McCourt, 81, whose daughter's death in Merseyside led to her fighting for the introduction of "Helen's Law", told Chronicle Live: 'My heart goes out to Janet who, 20 years after being murdered, has still not been laid to rest. To take a life is heinous enough. But to then hide the body of a murder victim is such a cruel, callous, deliberate act that causes untold pain and distress to families.
'It was for this very reason that I fought so hard for Helen's Law, which was introduced in 2021. I'd urge Janet's killer to do the right thing. Tell police what you did with her so that she can be found, brought home and given the funeral she and her loved ones deserve.'
Janet came from a wealthy family and had her own property development business, but she also did work on television as an extra and mystery shopper.
The jetsetter spent most of her free time solo travelling and had been living with her elderly parents Olive and Eric Brown, but was in a relationship with married Graham for a number of years before she went missing.
She vanished in June 2005, but her disappearance was not discovered until 2010, when a bank worker spotted signatures on documents relating to Janet's bank accounts did not match-up.
A fraud investigation was launched, which was passed on to Northumbria Police's murder squad when no trace of Janet could be found.
Fetectives discovered that shortly before the last time anyone heard from her, on June 15, 2005, a large amount of money had been transferred to Graham.
Janet was last heard from on June 15 when she spoke to a friend who had agreed to look after her dog before she went to France with Graham.
Detectives believe Janet she was murdered sometime between June 15 and June 18.

With Janet gone Graham continued to use her bank accounts, maintaining a pretence that she was still alive, and even wrote letters to her elderly parents pretending to be Janet, saying she had found a new job abroad.
When her parents died, in 2007 and 2008, Janet did not attend the funerals, even though Graham was at both.
Graham, then 60, was eventually arrested in April 2010
Despite extensive searches using Specially trained cadaver dogs, Janet's body has never been found.
Graham denied murder but was convicted after a trial at Newcastle Crown Court, in 2014.
The jury heard how he defrauded her of £500,000 to fund his flashy lifestyle.
It was said in court that Janet's body may have been dumped in a deep pit or mine shaft by Graham, who had been a JCB digger driver in the past.
He was jailed for life with a minimum of 32 years, meaning he will be in his 90s before he can apply for parole.
In 2021, new legislation was introduced meaning killers who hold back information about their victims could face longer behind bars.
The Prisoners Disclosure of Information About Victims Act, known more commonly as 'Helen's Law' places a legal duty on the Parole Board to consider the anguish caused by murderers who refuse to disclose the location of a victim's body when considering them for release.
.Det Chief Insp Paul Woods, who worked on the investigation into Janet's murder, has previously said: "These cases are extremely rare.
"It could have been the perfect murder, that no one would know had taken place."

Northumbria Police expresses 'embarrassment' after destroying Miners' Strike files, says MP
An MP says Northumbria Police 'expressed their professional embarrassment' when he met with the force after it emerged they had destroyed records relating to the Miners' Strike and the 'Battle of Orgreave'. Labour's Ian Lavery, MP for Blyth & Ashington, posted on social media on Monday (30 June) to say he had met with representatives of the force. The meeting follows the revelation last week that Northumbria Police had disposed of two boxes containing data relating to its involvement in the year-long strike of 1984 and violence that erupted outside a coking plant in South Yorkshire. Northumbria Police has confirmed it is investigating the circumstances surrounding its destruction. Writing on X, Mr Lavery said" "On Friday afternoon I met with senior representatives of Northumbria Police having written to them following the discovery that files relating to the policing of Orgreave and the Miners' Strike had been destroyed last year. "We spoke frankly about the mistrust that this will have caused many in mining communities up and down the country, including those here in South East Northumberland and about the need for the investigation into the matter to be transparent. "The Police acknowledged this and expressed their professional embarrassment that these documents had been destroyed and assured me that an investigation had already begun to understand the decision making behind the actions. "I look forward to further correspondence from them and in the meantime will continue to press the government for the inquiry into the policing of the full dispute that has been needed for so long." A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "We can confirm there is an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disposal of the material."

Warning for women being lured to Dubai 'Porta-Potty' parties with £3k gifts
The events, allegedly orchestrated by wealthy men, target young models and social media influencers. Women visiting Dubai has been warned against being lured to "Porta-Potty" parties with surprise gifts of up to £3,000. The events, allegedly orchestrated by wealthy men, target young models and social media influencers with promises of large sums of money, designer gifts, and luxury hotel stays. However, the reality behind the opulence is far more sinister, involving reports of extreme sexual humiliation and physical abuse. Shockingly, the women involved in these parties could even find themselves prosecuted. Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, has warned that women involved in these parties - even against their will - could face charges of adultery or indecency, especially if married men are present. As reported in the Mirror, she said: "Sex outside marriage has been legalised in Dubai, but organisers have exploited this. Women think they're attending a private party - instead, they're thrown into horrific, dangerous situations with real legal risk." Awareness was raised about the matter after an influencer shared on TikTok that a stranger she met at the gym had showered her with expensive gifts - raising questions about the true cost of such apparent generosity. Jade, who goes by @outplayedbyjade online, is originally from France but travelled to Dubai as she documented her trip online. In the video, she explained how she had been leaving the gym when workers approached her with a gift from someone she had met on the treadmill. She said: "I didn't think much of it." A worker handed her a bouquet of flowers and chocolate from the man she had struck up a conversation with. Flattered, she texted the number he had left with the gift to thank him, after which she then received a call from a shop assistant at the luxury jewellery designer store Van Cleef & Arpels. She went on: "I'm a very curious girl, so I make my way over to the shop. This assistant pulls out a beautiful bracelet and a matching necklace." All together, the gifts were worth around £3,000. While Jade was over the moon with her gifts, fans were quick to warn the influencer that the man was a "professional" and to "be careful" amid reports of men recruiting women for " Porta-Parties" in Dubai. An alleged victim is Maria Kovalchuk, a 20-year-old Ukrainian adult model, who was reportedly left for dead after attending one of these events. The young woman vanished after telling her mother she'd been invited to stay overnight with two men claiming to be modelling agents. She never made her flight to Thailand. Ten days later, on March 19, she was found dumped at the roadside i n Dubai, suffering from a shattered spine, broken limbs, and severe internal injuries. Maria has undergone multiple surgeries, and her family, now at her bedside, are desperate for answers. It's thought she is still recovering from her injuries. Dubai Police confirmed that Maria is receiving medical care, but claimed she 'entered a restricted construction site alone and fell from a height'. A statement many find hard to accept, given the disturbing rumours swirling around her disappearance. Russian lawyer Katya Gordon, who has followed the case closely, bluntly alleged: "Model Maria Kovalchuk was found dying on the side of the road in the UAE after a party. The scandal with the Porta Potty parties has been raging for over a year." Gordon and others allege that Maria may have been forced to take part in a sex act involving human faeces - a central theme of these " Porta-Potty" events, where humiliation and abuse are part of the package. These parties reportedly involve women being paid vast sums of money to perform grotesque acts involving bodily fluids, degradation and pain. Viral videos have helped expose this shadowy world, but the abuse is largely hidden by Dubai's shiny reputation and strict censorship laws. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! With the rise of "Porta-Potty" stories, experts have warned of red flags to watch out for when travelling to Dubai: Avoid entering private hotel rooms, villas, or yachts with strangers, especially late at night. Understand the legal risks: Dubai has strict laws, and foreign women can still be charged with public indecency, adultery or prostitution, even if coerced. Never agree to travel alone to private parties or accept all-expenses-paid trips without vetting the in regularly with friends or family, and always share your location. Beware of unverified agents offering large sums of money for vague modelling work. Maria's mother told Ukrainian media: "She has no documents, no phone, nothing. She's had three operations. She can't speak. We were told she went to a party, but the promoter claims he never saw her. We're terrified of what really happened."

Beauty and the Geek star charged with murder after boyfriend's body found decapitated
Tamika Sueann-Rose Chesser has been charged with the murder of boyfriend Julian Story after his burnt and decapitated body was reported to have been found at a home they shared. A former reality TV personality has been charged with a grisly murder after her boyfriend was found decapitated in a home they shared following a minor blaze. Beauty and the Geek star Tamika Sueann-Rose Chesser, aged 34, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder following an investigation by the authorities into the death of her partner, 39-year-old Julian Story, who was found decapitated in their South Australian abode on June 19. The detectives are still piecing together the puzzle of Julian's whereabouts, primarily searching for his missing head, with his charred and headless remains having been located in the bathroom of their Port Lincoln residence, reports the Mirror. Tamika's arrest occurred a mere 48 hours post-discovery, as officers stumbled upon her sitting motionless in a garden, appearing catatonic, as stated in legal documentation. Alongside the murder charge, Tamika is also accused of meddling with human remains in order to obstruct justice, along with assaulting a police constable, per The Telegraph's briefing. Officials have prompted the general public to provide assistance in locating Julian's severed head, which they attest was detached subsequent to his supposed slaying in the late hours of June 17, reports the Daily Star. Detective Superintendent Darran Fielke explained at a media briefing, not delving deeply into details: "While I won't provide any further detail about that at this time, I can tragically say that we have not recovered the head of Julian Story." The senior detective also urged the populace to understand the grief engulfing Julian's family during this ordeal: "I can only imagine, and I want you to imagine, the grief this news is causing Julian's family." The main objective for the force, he affirmed, is to retrieve Julian's head. He said: "Recovering Julian's head to return it to his family so they can have a peaceful outcome, have a funeral and lay him to rest is a really important aspect for us." It has emerged that Tamika, who was arrested after being found in a state of unresponsiveness, showed no clear motive for her actions. The woman, caught on CCTV with her dogs subsequent to the alleged murder, is at the centre of police appeals as they seek clues to the location of Julian's missing head. Detective Superintendent Fielke issued a plea stating: "I'm appealing to local residents to review CCTV or dash cam footage which they may have, which may assist the investigation." A prior court order preventing the identification of Tamika and the details of the case has been lifted by Magistrate Ben Sale in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday. Facing court through a video link, Tamika was denied bail and remains under a mental health detention order. Tamika is due to appear in court again this December.
