Kanaka Durga temple offers silk robes to shrines in Hyderabad for Bonalu festivities

As part of the Telangana Bonalu festivities, Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, Indrakeeladri, Vijayawada, ceremoniously offered pattu vastralu (silk robes) to prominent temples in Hyderabad on Friday.
The robes were presented at several temples across the twin cities, including Sri Mahankali Temples at Uppuguda and Gowlipura, Sri Simhavahini Mahankali Temple at Lal Darwaza, Sri Jagadamba Temple at Sultan Shahi, Sri Bela Mutyalamma, Sri Bangaru Maisamma, and Sri Akkanna Madanna Temples at Haribowli, and Sri Mahankaleshwara Temple at Meeralam Mandi.
Executive Officer of Kanaka Durga temple V. Seenanayak said the gesture symbolised prayers for prosperity, harmony, and the continued development of both Telugu States — Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The delegation was warmly received by G. Raghavender, president of the Hyderabad Unified Temples Committee, who accompanied them during the visits. Kanaka Durga temple chief priests L. Durga Prasad and R. Srinivas Shastri, along with Vedic scholars, were also present.

On the first Friday of the auspicious Sravana month, Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri was adorned with elaborate floral decorations, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere for visiting devotees. Special Kumkumarchanas were conducted in the inner sanctum and the prakaram (outer corridor) of the temple. Throughout the Sravana month, these rituals are being held daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in hourly batches. Devotees can participate in pairs by paying a nominal fee of ₹1,000 per session. The temple management has announced that this opportunity will be available every day until the end of the month. According to traditional belief, offering Kumkumarchana to Goddess Durga during Sravana is considered especially auspicious and is believed to remove obstacles while bringing prosperity and wealth. Devotees were blessed with a smooth and divine darshan on this first Sravana Friday. Temple authorities ensured orderly queues and maintained a peaceful flow of devotees throughout the day. The Executive Officer issued real-time instructions to temple staff and leveraged technology to manage the heavy footfall efficiently, according to a press release.

Bhilwara/Jaipur: Water levels in the Bisalpur Dam , a major source of drinking water for Jaipur, Ajmer and Tonk, crossed 315.5 meters for the first time this year, prompting the administration to open the dam's sluice gate no 10 at 4.55 pm Thursday to release 6,000 cusecs of excess water. This is only the first time since Bisalpur dam was built over two decades also that the flood gates have been opened in July. Bisalpur getting filled to capacity is expected to fulfil drinking water needs of Tonk, Ajmer and Jaipur districts for at least 18 months. This is the second consecutive year when the dam has fill up fully. Last year, sluice gates of the Bisalpur dam were thrown open in Sept. The gates were opened mid Vedic rituals with Tonk district collector Kalpana Agarwal, SP Rajesh Meena, and MLA Rajendra Gurjar in attendance. The dam administration sounded a siren at 12 noon before opening the gates. "Our teams are monitoring the situation, if needed more gates will be opened," Manish Bansal, executive engineer, Bisalpur dam told TOI. He also said good monsoon rains in Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Rajsamand and Bhilwara districts led the Triveni River, which feeds Bisalpur, to fill up for the first time in July. Meanwhile, Triveni River continued to flow at a gauge of 2.9 meters on Thursday evening. Since its completion in 2003, Bisalpur was first filled in 2004. Over the past 21 years, water has been released 15 times to the right and left canals for farmers in Tonk, irrigating 80,000 hectares of land. This has made Tonk the second-largest mustard producer in Rajasthan.
