Delhi Police busts ISI sleeper cell network in covert operation; 2 arrested, chargesheet filed
Of the two ISI agents, one has been identified as Ansarul Mian Ansari, a Nepali national. According to an ANI report, several classified documents related to the armed forces were recovered from his possession.
Ansari was caught at a hotel in Delhi while attempting to travel to Pakistan. He had come to Delhi at the request of the ISI, which had instructed him to create a CD containing confidential documents and send it to Pakistan. Following his interrogation, another individual was arrested in Ranchi, ANI reported, citing its sources.
Ansari revealed that he used to drive a cab in Qatar, where he met an ISI handler. He was then taken to Pakistan, where senior ISI officials trained him for several days before sending him to Delhi via Nepal.
This development comes just days after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two fugitives at Mumbai airport, allegedly linked to an ISIS sleeper cell network. The duo, wanted in connection with a 2023 case involving the fabrication and testing of IEDs in Pune, were intercepted by the Bureau of Immigration at Terminal 2 of Mumbai International Airport upon their return from Jakarta.
The accused, identified as Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh, also known as Diaperwala, and Talha Khan, had been evading authorities for over two years. Both had non-bailable warrants issued against them by a special NIA court in Mumbai.
According to PTI, the central probing agency had also announced a cash reward of ₹ 3 lakh each for information about them.
Their case involved a criminal conspiracy carried out by the duo in collaboration with eight other members of the ISIS sleeper cell in Pune, who have already been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. According to the official statement, Shaikh and Khan had plotted to carry out terrorist activities with the intent to disrupt India's peace and communal harmony, as part of a larger effort to wage war against the Government of India and advance the ISIS agenda.

Drug peddler running large-scale racket in Indore arrested
Indore: Dwarkapuri police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler who was absconding in seven criminal cases and was allegedly running a large-scale drug racket in the city. Additional DCP Dishesh Agarwal said that a special team led by station in-charge Inspector Sushil Patel arrested the accused Shubham alias Nepali (30), a resident of Shraddhasaburi Colony, from Super Corridor area. Shubham has 18 cases registered against him, including charges of attempt to murder, extortion, loot, and Arms Act violations. During interrogation, Shubham revealed that he was previously lodged in jail where he came in contact with Rajasthan-based drug trafficker Ayub Lala about two years ago and began sourcing brown sugar from the state for distribution in Indore. Ayub introduced him to selling brown sugar and MD drugs. After being released from jail, Shubham resumed contact with Ayub and started bringing brown sugar from Rajasthan to Indore, where he sold it with the help of associates Rahul, Lokesh and Yash. He allegedly purchased brown sugar at Rs 2,000-3,000 per gram and brought in 40–50 grams at a time, which was then divided into 15 small tokens of one gram each and sold to his associates for Rs 400 per token. These associates later sold the tokens in Indore for Rs 500-600 each. Shubham had been evading arrest by frequently changing locations between Rau, Tulsi Nagar, and Ujjain. Acting on a tip-off that he was moving around Super Corridor area, the police team launched a swift operation and arrested him. The accused was absconding with members of Durlabh Kashyap gang from Ujjain and was allegedly using WhatsApp calls to coordinate with a network of youths tasked with selling MD drugs across the city. Kashyap, who gained notoriety for flaunting weapons on social media, was murdered in 2020. Police have taken Nepali on remand. They estimate that Nepali was moving drugs worth nearly Rs two crore every month. Investigators said around 12 youths were working under him to supply small packets of drugs in Dwarkapuri, Rau, Chandan Nagar, and Annapurna localities.

Inclusion of TRF in report under 1267 Committee a boost for India's counter-terror campaign: officials
India's global campaign against cross-border terrorism received a boost with the inclusion of The Resistance Front (TRF) in the recent report of a counter-terror committee of the United Nations Security Council, officials in New Delhi said on Wednesday (30 July 2025). India has described the TRF as a front of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and accused it of carrying out the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians and injured dozens more on April 22. The Monitoring Team of the 1267 Sanctions Committee, which chronicles global terror groups for international punitive actions, published its report on July 24. India had sent a technical team to the UN to convey its position on cross-border terrorism, after Operation Sindoor was conducted between May 7 to 10. The technical team had reached out to the members of the UNSC and briefed officials of the 1267 Sanctions Committee's Monitoring Team. Earlier, India's campaign found support from the United States, with the U.S. State Department including TRF as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) on July 17. In its report, the Team noted that the TRF had taken responsibility for the attack in Pahalgam, saying, 'On 22 April, five terrorists attacked a tourist spot in Pahalgam, in Jammu and Kashmir. Twenty-six civilians were killed. The attack was claimed that same day by The Resistance Front (TRF), who in parallel published a photograph of the attack site. The claim of responsibility was repeated the following day. On 26 April, however, TRF retracted their claim. There was no further communication from TRF, and no other group claimed responsibility.' Following the publication of the Team's report, officials here noted that the mention of Pakistan-based TRF in a UN document has brought global spotlight to a group that India considers to be the latest addition to the list of Pakistan-based terror outfits like the LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed and others. Under Operation Sindoor, Indian armed forces struck locations inside Pakistan that were known to host terror-training facilities. The team further noted that there was high regional tension that could be exploited by terror groups. 'One Member State said the attack could not have happened without Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT, QDe.118) support, and that there was a relationship between LeT and TRF. Another Member State said that the attack was carried out by TRF, who was synonymous with LeT. One Member State rejected these views and said LeT was defunct,' the MT's report said, referring to divergent exchange between Indian and Pakistani officials on the TRF following the attack in Pahalgam, in which a Nepali citizen was among those killed. India's international campaign on the role of the TRF in the Pahalgam attack has been part of its overall campaign that also included sending multi-party teams to various countries in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. The TRF also featured in the speech by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who spoke on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on July 29 and mentioned the U.S. action against the TRF. '...I would particularly like to mention two or three other developments. One, the American designation of TRF. On the 17th of July, the Department of State designated the TRF as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation, and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. Now, this sir, comes in the wake of extradition of Tahawwur Rana, who was involved in the 26/11 attack,' said Mr. Jaishankar speaking in the Lok Sabha.
