
Nestlé has discontinued a popular KitKat flavour and shoppers are fuming
The company has confirmed it has axed multi-packs of its Dark Chocolate Mint two finger bars.
The beloved bars were previously on sale at Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Tesco but are now showing as out of stock on the retailer's websites.
Morrisons is the only major supermarket still selling the nine-pack - and has slashed the price from £2.20 to £1.50.
A Nestlé spokesperson said: "We are very sorry to disappoint fans of the KitKat two finger Dark Mint Chocolate which has been discontinued.
"We develop exciting new innovations to delight consumers' tastebuds all the time.
"This year, KitKat fans can enjoy KitKat two finger Nescafé Mocha, a delicious new flavour bringing together two of Nestlé's top brands – KitKat and Nescafé."
The confirmation from Nestlé comes after a slew of shoppers posted on X saying they couldn't find the Dark Mint flavour.
One said: "Where are the nine packs of KitKat Dark Mint?
"Morrisons traditionally slow to replenish stock but (they're) not in Asda or Sainsbury either."
A concerned son added: "Have the Dark Mint KitKats been discontinued or are they still on the shelves?
"Asking for my mum who is sulking about not being able to find them."
Which chocolate bars have been discontinued in the UK?
Meanwhile, a third shopper said: "Why have you stopped doing the Dark Mint KitKat can't get the anywhere."
It is not the first time Nestlé has revealed it's axed a product this year.
The chocolatier, which sells products in 185 countries, confirmed earlier this month it had axed Almond Clusters cereal.
Meanwhile, last December it told customers it would no longer sell Carnation Vegan Condensed Milk Alternative.

It's common practice for retailers and manufacturers to discontinue products based on demand and to freshen up their ranges.
Just last week, Nestlé announced three new chocolate bars, including two never-before-seen KitKat flavours.
Shoppers will be able to get their hands on the KitKat Chunky Funky - crispy cocoa wafer smothered in creamy milk and white chocolate.
While the KitKat Chunky Duo Salted Caramel, just like a normal KitKat Chunky but with salted caramel in its milk chocolate, has already started hitting shelves.
There's also a new Blue Riband vanilla flavour launching.
In March, Nestlé also launched a limited edition Biscuit and Brownie Yorkie bar, combining brownie-flavour milk chocolate with biscuit pieces.

Buy bigger bars - most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you've got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

UK accused of hypocrisy at landmark UN foreign aid conference
The UK has been accused of 'hypocrisy' over its lack of high-level participation at a key global development finance summit, on top of cuts to Britain's aid budget – while talking up its role in helping lower-income nations. The accusations have been made at the fourth Financing for Development Conference (FfD4), a once-a-decade summit happening all week in Seville, Southern Spain, where delegates are aiming to tackle the perennial problem of how to help developing countries access the money they need. Thirty-two African countries currently spend more on debt repayments than on healthcare, and 25 African countries spend more on debt payments than on education, an issue that activists say needs urgent action. Some 50 world leaders are due at FfD4, including Emmanuel Macron of France, Mark Carney of Canada, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. The UK, however, has only sent a government minister in the form of Baroness Chapman, the international development minister. 'A level of ambition from the UK government would have been demonstrated clearly by sending higher level participation such as the prime minister or Foreign Secretary,' Lydia Darby, a senior policy advisor at Save the Children, told The Independent. Ahead of fDf4, writing in The Independent, Baroness Chapman called for a 'new era for global aid and development', that would see developing countries helped in building their own tax systems, and greater investment in developing countries from the private sector, among other measures. Hannah Bond, Co-CEO at ActionAid UK, said that it is 'hypocritical' for the UK to talk about 'fair finance' while cutting overseas aid. 'If the UK truly cares about fair finance, it must honour its overseas aid commitments, tackle unfair debts, and pay its fair share in addressing the climate crisis,' Bond said. 'Without this, talk of fair finance is nothing more than empty PR.' Baroness Chapman's appearance comes off the back of the UK cutting its foreign aid budget from 0.5 per cent to 0.3 per cent of Gross National Income (GNI) - which is expected to reduce foreign aid by £6.2 billion by 2025. Alex Farley, from advocacy group Bond, said that it is 'impossible' to see how the UK can deliver on existing funding commitments, respond to humanitarian crisis, and tackle climate change, following he 0.5 to 0.3 per cent cut. 'Let alone undo the damage these cuts have done to our reputation and credibility with countries,' he added. 'It would be nice to hear the government expressing regret for its cuts to the aid budget, rather than blithely claiming that they are somehow doing developing countries a favour,' Michael Jacobs, from the think tank ODI, told The Independent. Mr Jacobs added that the claim that private sector money can substitute public funds is 'silly at best, disingenuous at worst'. This is because 'the private sector wants returns, while much aid - for health, schools, sanitation, climate adaptation - doesn't make a profit, so is not investable', he said. Catherine Pettengell, executive director of NGO network Climate Action Network UK concurred that the UK had 'failed to sufficiently support developing countries' calls for fairer debt, tax, international cooperation, and climate finance ' in build-up to the conference. 'It's a crushing blow that only compounds the recent UK aid cuts,' she added. Attendees of FfD4 say, however, that it is not all doom and gloom in Seville. The final agreement of the talks - the Compromiso de Sevilla - was in fact agreed to just ahead of this week's conference. According to Save the Children's Ms Darby, there is notably positive language on matters including international tax cooperation and an agreement to initiate an intergovernmental process on debt. 'The document is an important step with plenty to build on in the months and years to come,' Darby said - though she acknowledged it has inevitably fallen short of 'the transformative ambition that civil society and vulnerable communities worldwide had called for'. While the UK, along with the EU, has been accused of watering down key priorities for low-and-middle-come countries, these countries have at least contributed much more positively than the US, which withdrew from talks ahead of the conference over the refusal from the rest of the world to delete the goal of 'sustainable development' from the text.

Morrisons makes major change to 60 stores as part of restructure
Meat counters at Morrisons are being regenerated to feature largely pre-packed meat, as the group battles to revive its fortunes. Under the new model, butchers at Morrisons will cut meat at the start of the day into a number of different pre-packed sizes, enabling shoppers to select the cuts they want. It is the same range as before, but displayed on a flat bed so customers can help themselves, Morrisons told This is Money. Morrisons claimed the move will help free up butchers' time as they will no longer have to work on creating carefully curated meat displays each day. While most meat at Morrrisons' counters will be pre-packed, butchers will still be available assist shoppers and to cut meat to a specific size or thickness if required. Morrisons has set a target of rolling out the new meat counter format to 100 stores by the end of 2025, with around 60 having already been altered. A Morrisons spokesman told This is Money: 'We are moving at pace with the modernisation of Market Street as part of our Morrisons Magic programme, and following successful trials, we've begun to roll out flatbeds in our butchery departments. 'These showcase the same range, with the freshness and quality that Market Street is renowned for but with a more modern and contemporary look. 'They offer both the convenience of self service for customers that prefer it and the traditional individual service from an in-store butcher. 'Customer reaction has been very positive and we're aiming to have the new look in 100 stores this year.' The supermarket chain said did a trial of the revived meat counter operation at its store in Retford last year that was 'really well received'. What is happening at Morrisons? Morrisons is in the midst of a sweeping cost-cutting drive as chief executive Rami Baitiéh battles to revive the grocer's bottom line. In March, more than 360 Morrisons staff were told they were at risk of losing their jobs amid changes being made to its operations. It announced plans to close 17 convenience stores, 52 cafes, 18 market kitchens, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies. Morrisons, which employs 95,000 workers, said its planned closures were in areas where the costs of operation were significantly out of line with usage. On Wednesday, Morrisons became the latest major business to warn that it will be forced to accelerate its cost-cutting plans amid Labour's recent national insurance contribution hike for employers. In the year to 27 October 2024, Morrisons saved £312million in costs. As a result of Rachel Reeve's policy, the grocer's employer national insurance costs will rise by around £75million this year. The chain reported an underlying EBITDA of £344million in the half to 27 April, up 7.2 per cent year-on-year, bolstered by a 4.2 per cent rise in sales to £3.9billion during its second quarter. In January, rival Tesco unveiled plans to axe 400 jobs, affecting mangers at its mobile phone shops and in-store bakery staff. In the same month, Sainsbury's announced plans to cut 3,000 jobs and close all in-store cafes.

Telling a colleague to 'shut up' in front of peers at work could break employment laws, tribunal rules as company director wins £15,000 payout
Telling a colleague to shut up at work is 'unacceptable' and could allow them to claim thousands of pounds compensation, a tribunal has ruled. Company director David Ashe will now get £15k after complaining about the behaviour of boss Roger Topping who tried to silence him during a Teams meeting. A judge decided using the phrase might 'undermine' whoever it is directed at - despite claims it is 'common parlance'. Supporting his claim of constructive unfair dismissal, Employment Judge Lucy Wiseman said: 'The Tribunal was satisfied that Mr Topping did not have reasonable and proper cause to tell a fellow Director to "shut up" during a staff meeting and in front of other, more junior, staff. 'We say that because such conduct would undermine [Mr Ashe] in front of those staff.' The tribunal, held in Glasgow, heard Mr Ashe worked as a director of operations at Claims Equilibrium Club, an insurance claims assistance service for insurance brokers and their clients, from April 2022. Mr Topping, managing director, had head hunted him as a partner and successor to run the business, the hearing was told. He had employed Mr Ashe on the basis he would 'sell 50 per cent of the equity in the business to [Mr Ashe] within 5 years for a set sum', the tribunal was told. However, cracks in the relationship between the two developed over Mr Ashe's first year as a director. One of the problems was he felt he wasn't being given enough work, while Mr Topping thought he wasn't finding enough work. In June 2024, the two had a meeting in which Mr Topping said 'he could not see the current relationship improving and therefore there was no prospect of the originally planned partnership of 50/50 working'. He offered to sell Mr Ashe the entire company but Mr Ashe did not want to do this. The day after the meeting, Mr Ashe emailed Mr Topping telling him he disagreed he was the cause of the unresolved issues between the two of them. The tribunal heard: '[Mr Ashe] also made reference to the fortnightly staff meetings, held on Teams, where Mr Topping had shouted at him to "shut up" which was unacceptable.' He added he 'felt that it had [not been] appropriate for Mr Topping to shout at him during team meetings'. Mr Ashe raised a grievance with Mr Topping, who consulted an HR specialist. In a meeting with this specialist the same month, the tribunal was told: 'Mr Topping did not deny telling [Mr Ashe] to "shut up" during a staff meeting on Teams, but this had arisen because [Mr Ashe] was continually interrupting others and not allowing them to speak.' The HR specialist partially upheld Mr Ashe's grievance, finding Mr Topping had displayed 'general hostility' in telling him to shut up. Mr Ashe went on sick leave after this, and resigned in September 2024. He said Mr Topping had 'taken no proactive steps to resolve matters with him' despite parts of his grievance being upheld, and he had been left with 'no option but to resign in response to the breach of contract'. Mr Topping told the tribunal that it was Mr Ashe who had broken the contract by not being a good employee. 'He considered the allegations of bullying were unproven and false,' the hearing was told. 'He acknowledged that perhaps he had said "shut up" but there had been no malice in this and it was simply common parlance.' EJ Wiseman disagreed, however. Ruling in Mr Ashe's favour, she said of the managing director's behaviour: '[We] considered whether the employer's conduct as a whole was such that its effect, judged reasonably and sensibly, was such that the employee cannot be expected to put up with it. 'The Tribunal was satisfied that Mr Topping's conduct was such that, judged reasonably and sensibly, [Mr Ashe] could not be expected to put up with it. 'The Tribunal reached that conclusion because of the cumulative effect withdrawal of the share purchase opportunity; the breakdown in the Mr Topping undermining the claimant in front of other staff by telling him to "shut up" during a staff meeting.' This incident was considered, alongside Mr Topping's other actions, to be a 'breach of the implied term of trust and confidence' and therefore a 'fundamental breach of contract entitling the claimant to resign'. The tribunal found both men were responsible for the breakdown in their relationship, and therefore awarded Mr Ashe half of the award it would have otherwise given him. Claims Equilibrium Club was ordered to pay him £14,568 in compensation.
